Good to know Devon, here I was thinking my comp was just being even slower than usual. Seems to be installing just fine after the long long wait.

Alright, third time is the charm! Now I'm getting an error that was mentioned in another thread. So, we'll see if it works after this.

I had the same problem - then I rebooted my PC and got an error saying something about too many 16-bit processes running, with the demo file in the header of the message.

Upon rebooting, though, the installer did run instead of freezing up. Unfortunately for me, though, the verification said the downloaded file was corrupt. So now I'm going to try the gamershell mirror.

Rebooting before running the installer may help some of the other people in this thread, though.

Same problem, Download times out after about 20 minutes. I'm just going to let it go for a day or two. All those downloads from one source at once probably isn't helping.

I used firefox...after it was done the download file was still had a ".exe.part" extension. I removed the ".part" and ran the installer and it ran fine.

Can't you guys right click the file in download manager and choose "open containing folder"?

It will open the folder where it downloaded the exe.

Then just double click the exe.

I managed to get around the problem by simply waiting it out. I was clicking my installer .exe and my computer was freezing up and loading for what seemed like forever, so I eventually went away for about 10-15 minutes and the installer had started. Not sure what it was doing but if you wait long enough it might work...

I am having this problem as well - I am using Firefox and Windows 7 64 bit.

I have tried four downloads and each has stopped about 6 mb into it. I'll try reseting my computer. Hope it works. :(

Same problem. I got 53% into it the second time around, little over 1g. And it fails. Using firefox, Win 7 x64. I dont understand why the download isnt put into a torrent format as well. I feel like it would reduce the load on bioware's servers too, aka high download speeds for all!

Fix that seemed to work for me: Downloading from FilePlanet.

Looks like the dev is right in his comment. Its based on how long the download has been going, not the actual progress. If you can find a place, (work or what not) with the speeds that can download it within 20 minutes your golden.

I just successfully downloaded the entire file and its runable.

good luck

Will try FilePlanet,

Pretty sad BioWare, your loyal fans need to go to an outside source to get your file.

No, it's called mirrors.  That's what sites like Fileplanet are for.

Also, if you all are able to do torrents (note, torrents aren't illegal... downloading pirated stuff via torrent is), the demo is available in a torrent version from Gamershell.com that's where I Got my demo.

Hey guys, new here, dunno if this is related to this error, but when i downloaded the demo completly i got the message that the source file (i guess it's the .exe which is meant to open the .part file) couldn't be opened.
The result is that i now have an .exe file which my PC ( 3GHZ, Medion, with Windows 7 32.bit) can't delete saying that the windows explorer is currently using it and a part. file.

While i can simply remove the "part" part in the demo and make it functional i'm left with that damn exe file.

I acidently then deleted the part file and fear i've made it worse. Though i recovered it from the trashbin.

I've downloaded the demo again and this time it worked, but after deleted the finished download, i tried downloading the demo again. This time the same error happend and i'm now left with with two part files and two exe files meant to unpack the demo.

I'm completly at lost, having only recently got a windows 7 capable PC, so seeing as this problem seems simliar to your various one, maybe one can help me how to delete those two exe files.
