@MorrigansFriend - Your PC is at our minimum spec requirements unfortunately it will run slower on your machine. I have included the minimum and recommended specs to run Dragon Age II:

PC Minimum
:
OS: Windows XP with SP3, Windows Vista with SP2, or Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB cards
Disc Drive: DVD ROM drive required
Hard Drive: 7 GB
Sound: Direct X 9.0c Compatible Sound Card Windows Experience Index: 4.5

PC Recommended:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Processor or equivalent
CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 Triple core 2.8 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 2GB (4 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
Video: NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater
DirectX 11 Video: ATI 5850 or greater
DirectX 11 Video: NVIDIA 460 or greater

My configuration exceeds the recommended and I am getting graphics corruption. Basically black triangles, on the floor. FPS is way low.

My specs:

i5 750 2.4 Ghz
Nvidia GTX 460
4 GB RAM
Windows 7.

Ok to fix it, I chose Directx 9 rendere path instead of DirectX 10/11.

I hope I am not suck with Dx9 now.

:crying:

Ok so basically i have some horrible lag too (it makes the game unplayable really) , that affects all my comp while the demo is running. I was playing at maximum graphical setting the demo is allowing, but my screen size is "only" 1440 *900.

I think this game need a lot more optimization...

See my specs :

Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Processor

Clock Speed: 3384 MHz

Physical Memory 3,25 Go

Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450

VRAM: 1,00 Go

Sound Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

Driver version: 6.0.1.5919

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 integral edition

DirectX version: Direct X 11 June2010 or later

I'm able to run a lot of new games at full graphic with no lag (like Mafia 2). This demo shouldn't lag on me...

I'll try with other graphical settings to see what is slowing down my comp like this.

Ok so i ran the game on Directx 9 (medium setting) on this time and it's ok now. Seems the game runs poorly with DX 10 (for demo) on the high setting. I can't even imagine how bad it could be with extra high DX 11 setting on the real game lol

Like i said i can run some DX 11 games on my comp without any problems, as you could guess with my specs. So there's still work for devs to make DX 11 run smoothly here, at least with my  config ...

Err... DX10/11 suport doesn't even exist in the demo, so you are stuck with it ;)
If you set it any higher than medium, it will default back to it.

Odd, Chris stated today the demo doesn't have it.
It seems to break the game pretty badly on most systems it seems if you try to enable it.

Check the settings again. They should have defaulted back to medium.

A lot of players seem to have some bad performances with DX 10/11 even when their specs exceed the recommended ones.

My guess is DX 10 /11 is not really working on this game like it should be. I think that's one of the last things they added to the game... That could explain why. I hope the real game will be ok !

It went gold but not everything is supported 100% in the demo, DX11 for example.

You can set the demo to run at DX11, but the chances are, the performance will less than desirable, even with optimum spec PCs(I've tried it), so...

Edit: see sticky thread at the top of this forum:

The PC demo has known performance and stability issues with DirectX 11. These have been fixed in the final game.

We recommend that all users disable DirectX 11 while playing the demo, including those with high-end machines.

I downloaded the Dragon Age 2 demo this evening with somewhat mixed performance results.

There seemed to be a few performance issues, most notably with Direct X 11 but I'll start with the Direct X 9 version first.

Before I go any further my specs are the following:

Intel i7 2600k 3.4GHz CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB GPU (driver version 266.66)
600GB 10,000rmp SATA 3 6GB per second HDD
Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

The game ran brilliantly with medium graphic detail and 1900x1200 resolution. However I got "loading" messages during cut scenes and frequent short breaks (usually a second or so) between the transition of game play, cut sense and the dialog section menus. These got somewhat annoying as the screen just froze before continuing.
High graphic detail with Direct X 9 and max AA also ran very well.

After turning on Direct X 11 and setting the graphic detail onto high things took a turn for the worst.

The game was unplayable, black triangles on screen (mostly on the ground textures) and a dramatic drop in FPS.
After a reset though the game did run a little smoother but there was still a huge drop in FPS, my guess is less than 30. The transition problem was also still present.

I'd just like to confirm if this demo was picked from the RTM version of the game or is it from an earlier build?
If it is an earlier build have these performance issues been fixed for the RTM version?
This may explain the performance issues myself and other members of the forum have been reporting

There is a sticky in this forum saying the DX11 implementation is buggy in the demo and not fully supported, but is working in the retail version.
