Ran DA2 demo and with directx 11 enabled, high video setting, AF 16x, AA is off, vertical sync enabled, ran like butter with no shadow issues, crashing or anything. With vertical sync off, I experienced horrible tearing.

My Specs:

Asus P6X58D Premium
12GB DDR3 1600
i7 920 2.67GHz
Zotac GTX 480 AMP! Edition
1TB WD Caviar black series drive
SB Fatality Titanium PCI-E card
Samsung SyncMAster 275t Plus (everything at 1920x1200; 16:10 ratio)
Corsair HX 1000W PSU

Win7 64-bit Ultimate with all win updates including SP1

Nothing has been over-clocked in my rig and its very well cooled. The DA2 demo got my GPU to maybe 60'C played from the beginning to the very end.

Graphics are much improved overall.

ONLY issue I have is the camera angle / view is not the way it was with DAO. I find this EXTREMELY annoying and not enjoyable. If that was fixed, looks like not a bad game so far.....

I too have a system that far exceeds even the recommended settings, and as everyone else am having horrible lag issues. Keep in mind everyone, that this is a demo. It is the game in an unfinished state. The publishers/game manufacturers have every right to make changes/omit anything they feel.

Personally I think a demo should be a representation of what the final game is going to be like. Disabling features is their right, but it makes me feel like they are hiding something. As a potential customer I want to see what the finished product is going to be like (at least as close a representation as possible.), not a stripped down version. I will be trying different settings to make the game somewhat playable (because it's not in it's current state), but my foregone conclusion to buy anything Bioware has been slighted to say the least.

I faced the lag twice at high setting even with i7 940 & GTX580 (DX9 & DX10).
Demo was completely non playable.
And finally I found the reason for this lag.
At the second time I noticed the thin blue line at the top of screen and tried to move it by mouse.
Actually the demo was running in WINDOW mode instead of full screen!!!
And I checked my settings - full screen was choosen!
When window was maximized to the full screen lag was desappeared.

(Sorry for my bad English, it's not my native language).

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
2193 MHz 2.00 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT 512 MB
266.58
Realtek HD Audio output
5.10.0.5436
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
DirectX 9.0c (Jun2010) or later

I know my isn't the "top spec", but however it's in the minimum isn't it?
But the Demo is however unplayeble, what i wanna know it's just a Demo problem?
Or with that spec it's "impossible" play even the real game?

Thx and sorry for my english.

I think there is a newer DirectX9 you should try, i think there is a November or December-release if i remember correctly. Try updating that and good luck.:)

Lol I get the demo to run great on a multi threading P4 and a ati radeon x1650 pro. I also only have 1.5 gigs of ram (Lies! I see 2 gigs worth in my computer but I guess that slot is dead).

Well, it states that it is from 30/11-2010, weird. Oh well, maybe you should seek for the entire DX9-file from that release in some other place. I mean not through the updater that Microsoft provides but the entire executable-file and run it to be sure, should be about 150-300mb or so i think.

It´s versionnumber is 9.29.1973

yes it is, DX10.0 compatible, not 10.1 compatible. Still i would suggest upgrading, even the cheap modern cards are better than that one, at least from a DirectX point-of-view. The Nvidia 460´s are cheap now since the 560´s has arrived on market.  But all this don´t matter if you are running XP that only supports DX9 anyways.

oh well, just a suggestion. :)

It's pretty easy to compare really but I guess it's easy to say when your used to it.

Anyway, your CPU runs a bit short of what is recommended and I would say that is your major flaw.
But your RAM is also a bit low for recommended but your Graphic card is Ok.

I would probably say you won't able to run it on very high, but I'm sure you'll be able to play it on a lower setting without much(if any) problems.

That is still the version that updates via the web, you need the full exe-file downloaded. It may be abit hard to find but i´ve done it in the past.
