That's the final, polished   version of Mike Laidlaw.  The interviewer is  a year old demo, and I believe, a Vulcan.

Alot of people are commenting on this.  It's a figure of speech, is  all.  But if you need ingame proof,   in the demo, Varric tells Cassandra that he doesn't know where Hawke is right now.  That'd be quite the odd comment from him, if hawke was, in fact, dead.

I don't know, but maybe it's because it's nighttime? There should definitely be a few people visible, but not huge crowds at least.

I got to the part where he said they didn't want to make it "cartoony" and I couldn't stop laughing. I think they missed the mark, in that respect.

I have to say after watching the 30 minute video it only peeked my interest even more. It was shown as Mage Fhawke and that will mostly likely be my first play-through. I love what they did with mages. I find it more entertaining and not so boring. I can actually fight with my staff shooting magic instead of feeling just like the healer always.



I am a little dissapointed that Hawke and companions outfits are fixed. This dampened my mood. I liked how I could equip anything on my character and companions. My favorite play through was with Morgan wearing a full breast plate as an Arcane warrior. They did say that you could upgrade and this changes the look of the companions but I'm still a little disappointed. I do have a pet peeve that involves rpg's where "years/months" go by and they are still in the same clothes. Maybe that is just me. That was one of the reasons why I loved DAO.

I disagree with Rabid, I feel the companions having unique outfits makes them unique... for obvious reasons. I do agree with the whole comment about how they will be wearing the same outfit for years/months though.

Your not... Hawke is still fully customizable...from armor n appearance to weapons n accessories...

Watched it yesterday night because I was curious, and it was a good thing I did. I wonder about the empty city too, though, must have some reasons? I can't wait to play this game!

Ah! Thank you for clarifying. I must’ve misunderstood what
was said during the video. I thought everyone was fixed in an outfit. I would
still like to have full customization of my companions even the cosmetics of their
armor. Maybe they could have armor specific to that companion, like I guess Varric
could have different opened blouses and jackets? LOL:O 

Oh well, I’m used to the static looks of party members. At
least Hawke will be fully customized. I am also not too upset since it was said they will change with time. This makes me happy.

I would not be surprised if the demo versions they're showing have NPCs removed from the city in order to boost the framerate. However, if that's the way it is in the retail version, I don't care how much it slows down my game, I'll use the first mod that comes out to add more NPCs. If what we're seeing is any indication of how the rest of the city is done, they've done a great job of building the environment -- it finally feels like a real capital city (Denerim did not feel this way to me). But, having built the environment, you've got to have people living in it otherwise it'll just feel that much more surreal and eerie. So, here's hoping we're just worried about a nighttime or demo issue.



As for Hawke's armor, I'm not going to look for a quote right now, but yes, you can change his armor, just not the companions.

I agree, I'd love to see something more of Anders and Seb, and Merrill too. Hearing them speak more (or in Merril's case, at all), and what they're like in battle. And the outfits do indeed make them unique, which is why I like the fact that they have their own specalisations too.

A couple people have commented about Laidlaw mentioning the end of Hawkes life. I got the impression he meant that at the end of every chapter of Hawkes life, there is likely to be a boss battle. Am I wrong?

nope that's exactly 100% what I understand. Boss battles sometimes when Hawke advances in age.

I think I am going to be tough on Fen. He uses Hawke as a distraction then assumes she'll help her. My Hawke won't be that generous, heh.
