When I run demo it gives me the Error initializing PhysX and check/update the driver, but I have the newest driver (PhysX_9.10.0513_SystemSoftware). My graphics card Radeon HD 3650 AGP.
Help me please
This is strange, cause demo uses PhysX SDK 2.8.4. which does not require any PhysX drivers.
Try this - search for file named PhysXDevice.dll (somewhere within PhysX drivers installation) and copy in to "Dragon Age 2 Demo\\bin_ship"

It's for all CPUs. The nVIDIA GPU version isn't wanted, and may cause problems. The original PhysX is still licensed by nVIDIA to game developers; it runs on the CPU. The game won't run without it, no matter your video card brand.Sandy42 wrote...
Okay I'm confused. Is this something that you need for all video cards or just from Nvidia?Because I'm running an ATI card?
P. S. AGP is now six years in the past. No one has sold a readymade, branded PC using it for five years now, and there just aren't any five year old branded PCs I would trust with DA2, sorry. (My own XP 3000 PC is six years old, and wouldn't run a game this new.)

Yes, AGP may be outdated, but I've run plenty of modern games (including Origins and Mass Effect 2) without any issue with it.Gorath Alpha wrote...

I'm still having trouble with this Physx issue, running an AGP 1GB ATI 4600 series video card. Any suggestions?

However, I'm going to download it via Steam and see if that works.
In any case, I'm now HIGHLY alarmed that I'll run into similar issues when I pick up my full version on March 8. Hopefully the tech crews over at BioWare are using this demo as some feedback and trying to figure out what the crap went wrong on some of these issues.

Getting the exact same error message. I
wonder if the problem is the fact that we're both running AGP cards and

But when I delete the drivers, the error is same as when I run the demo whith newest drivers, but when I run DA:O the error is
I try to reinstall drivers, demo in random order and which you say but not working.Gorath Alpha wrote...
Same as always: try to find out
whether it is the driver, the Direct3D APIs, PhysX, or the Demo, by
reinstalling one at a time and retesting as you go. I've named them in
order of the ease of performing the reinstalls.
The problem is somewhat different....I think.
P.S. Sorry for my english

So here's the skinny:
My system:
Windows XP 32-bit SP3
MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2700+ processor
2.5 GB (2 1GB sticks and one 512 stick) PC3200 DDR SDRAM
ATI Radeon HD 4650 video card, AGP
While I realize that this system is old and outdated, it's continues to run admirably. This system is fully capable of running Mass Effect 2 without hardly any issue, so it should be sufficient to continue running.
So when I installed the demo, I get the Physx error as posted by Rifster right above me - Error intializing Physx.
1) Attempted to reinstall the demo, assuming an install error. No effect.
2) Installed the demo to its default location (On C drive), no effect.
3) Attempted to move around copies of .dlls and other files as suggested by this thread, no effect.
4) Updated display driver (Catalyst package), no effect.
5) Uninstalled and reinstalled display driver, no effect.
6) Installed latest Physx package, ---> http://www.nvidia.co...513-driver.html, no effect.
7) Uninstalled Physx and reinstalled, no effect.
8) Downloaded demo through Steam and installed, no effect.
9) Tested against Origins and Mass Effect 2 (both which utilize Physx) - no problem with Origins, Mass Effect 2 was now unable to initiliaze physics engine.
10) Uninstalled PhysX and attempted to run Mass Effect 2 (through Steam). Steam installed PhysX necessary for the game and loaded fine. Attempted to then open Dragon Age 2 demo, still no effect.
Aside from a total format, I'm running out of ideas. Obviously this demo utilizes PhysX as does Origins and Mass Effect 2. However, whatever package is being used for Mass Effect 2 apparently does not work for this demo.
So that's the current situation. I spent several hours with this problem last night and intend to spend several more on it tonight. So I'd appreciate either some fresh ideas from people around here or some attention from official tech people with BioWare/EA. Thanks.

Judging by old threads around the boards, this isn't the first time users have had issues with PhysX in BioWare games. However, strangely, it's the first time it's been an issue for my setup.

It worries me too. It seems odd to me that I can run ME2 smoothly and cant run a demo of DA2 :/
I remember I had some problems with DAO and I think it was PhysX too, but cant remember correctly.
What is most annoying and dissapointing is that with some games (DAO included) I cant run the originals. This is the biggest puzzle of them all.

I'm running a very similar system with an identical video card. Pleae keep posting because I for one appreate the time and energy you have put into the project.

For Sandy42-- DA (and I presume DA2) runs PhysX on the CPU. This is regardless of what brand of card you have.
That said, I'd be interested to see the results of SteveGarbage's safe mode attempts.
