And WHERE did you get that bad information? There have been two PhysX versions, ever since the original developer of PhysX, Ageia, designed their first dedicated PhysX add-on card. Before that, the only PhysX there was had run on any X86 CPU in any Windows OS. The version in Dragon Age is the original, CPU-based PhysX. You can still download the same CPU-running PhysX from nVIDIA, for free, but there's usually no need to do so, since it comes in the game.Thandal NLyman wrote...

Soapy, can you please check if sse\\sse2 is enabled in your BIOS? Your processor supports it, but it could be disabled. Please inform us if it's enabled or not, and try to enable it and run the game again if it's disabled.soapy341 wrote...

And Dogfighter updates 1.0.2.5 "nVidia PhysX SDK 2.8.4.4" dont know original and 1.0.2.6 "Legacy nVidia PhysX support (2.8.3 SDK) for non-SSE2 systems".
So next question is that engine. If it really requires sse2 then it does and devs know it.If they didnt update it too much it could be patched.

Does anyone have an ATI card and an nVidia card together in the same rig AND running PhysX successfully?
(I don't. Strictly nVida cards for the past 6-8 years.)

Is sse2 enabled in your BIOS? Check it at the PC start up, please.Knarf Backwards wrote...
My processor is a Intel® Core 2 Duo CPU P7450
Also running Windows 7 64-bit
How to do it, just in case:
Press Delete at start up, you will see your BIOS. Choose "Advanced Chipset Features" submenu (press Enter on it) and find an option called "SSE\\SSE2 Instructions". It should be set to "enabled". If it's set to disabled, press on "disabled" to switch it to "enabled", leave the submenu, choose Save Settings & Exit, press Y. Your PC will restart.
Please inform us how it goes. We had a suspicion here and it's a sse2 problem, but you're the second person with a processor that supports it. However it can be disabled, so I ask you to check if that could somehow happen to be the case for you.
P.S. If Delete doesn't work, try other keys and key combinations to enter BIOS (for some reasons they're different for different BIOSes): http://michaelsteven...anufacturer.htm (scroll down a bit).

To update BIOS you need to know your motherboard model and go to its site to look for newest drivers. If you don't know the model, you can use this helpful program to find out:

Greetings,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience still caused to. I investigated the issue and could confirm in Dxdiag records that the video card is not updated. This can be caused by out of date drivers for your video adapter. You should update to the latest graphics driver available for your video adapter.
Concerned Video Manufacturer Site:
ATI Technologies Inc. - http://www.atitech.c...ort/driver.html
If you have any difficulty with this, please update this question and let me know which part you're having difficulty with so that I can walk you through it.
NOTE: Even a brand new computer could be in need of a driver update. Check with your computer or card manufacturer.
- You will also need to lower a Hardware Sound Acceleration setting on your computer to "basic". To do this, follow these steps:
· Click the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop.
· Click on "Run".
· Erase any text already in the run prompt.
· Type in: dxdiag
· Click the OK button.
· Select the sound tab at the top of the tool.
· Set the Hardware Sound Acceleration Slider to "Basic".
· Click "Exit" in the bottom right hand corner.
Try to play the game on window XP compatibility mode.

Hope this help!!!
Thank you,

Not necessarily. My computer (for some reason) doesn't like the Catalyst 11.2 or 11.1 drivers, so I'm running the most stable version I could find, 10.6. That's likely why he said to update the drivers.
However, the other advice, including compatibiity mode and sound hardware stuff were things I haven't tried. I'd do it myself but my computer is an hour and a half away at my brothers since I traded him. For someone out there running an Athlon XP with an AGP video card, if you have the 11.2 drivers running and can test this, let me know.
Just the video drivers are what this person noticed in my diagnostic readout.

Steve (adding Garbage seems weird, so I won't), is it possible to ask specific questions when you're dealing with official support?
They probably didn't think of it while answering, I have no idea how official support works, never had to work with it for a single game before, but it could be tricky to ask them a question specifically. Or maybe they thought about it, it's just a version.kazeva wrote...

But I suggest to everyone who is affected by this problem to go to *** http://support.ea.com/ *** log in with your EA account and then submit a question about the PhysX error with your specific specs. If we flood them with enough trouble reports hopefully someone will take notice - or - maybe at least they'll be able to find a solution to one person that will help everyone else.
If they keep giving us the "update drivers" spiel and it's still not working and we keep hounding the point they'll (hopefully) have to dig deeper into the issue.
