Loading in the middle of a cutscene?

I'm still playing through the demo, but so far I have had several issues with the game stopping to load right smack in the middle of a cutscene. It will stop and the word 'loading' will appear at the bottom of the screen. It's done this multiple times, and often times more than once in the same cutscene.

I don't recall this happening in any of the videos I watched. Is this a demo thing, or something in my computer not doing things properly?

My specs:

Intel i5 2500
4GB DDR3 1600 RAM
MSI GeForce GTX460 Hawk (1GB)
Seasonic X 650w PSU

Okay so I got a bit further (found Wesley) and the problem was persisting, and now apparently I have to do it all over again because the demo stopped working when I alt+tabbed out of it for a moment.

Do we have to complete the demo in order to get our item for the main release, or just play it? I'm about to try again because I WAS having a great time with it.

Yeah, I completed the demo and got the item in my Registered Promotions. It just doesn't mention it happenening in-game.

Also had the issue with 3-5 second loading times between cutscenes. I assume it's a PC demo issue, since the Xbox users don't seem to have that problem.

I'll assume further that it's a Win 7 (64-bit?) specific issue, since others that have had the problem were on Win7. I might be wrong of course, seeing you folks in this thread didn't specify your OS. If you are on Win7 though, you could try running the demo as administrator, I read it helped some people.

Win XP SP3 here, haven't encountered any tech problems.

Yeah, you might be right, I'm using Win 7 (64 bit) and I'm having loads in the middle of cutscenes, too. I'll keep fiddling around with graphics settings, see if anything alleviates the problem.

Also got the loading screen and I'm on Vista 64 bit. Could be a 64 bit OS problem but I'd hope not and that it's just a demo thing.

Specs in case they help:

Vista 64 bit as mentioned
Q6600 3Ghz
4GB RAM
4870 1GB

It's not. I'm on Vista 32 bit and I'm getting it all the time. It really destroys the whole cinematic experience.

I should point out that I have no issues runing the actual game. It only happens during cutscenes.

Happens to me pretty much every time a new character speaks up, which can be irritating, to say the least.

WinXP SP3 32 bit.

I have this issue as well. Windows 7 x64. No problems during gameplay, but where there's a cutscene, I get frequent pauses during the dialog. Very immersion killing.

Okay sorry about the long response. I refused to alt+tab out of the demo again for fear of it crashing. I just completed it (awesome) and the problem did continue for me. I'm running WIndows 7 64-bit. I should not that I just built this computer a week ago, as well.

Anyway, the demo was terrific, but did they cut some stuff out for it? I distinctly remember the Live Q & A a few weeks ago, and the scenes where they met Isabella were actually being played through. In the demo we viewed it as a cutscene. That, and my characters jumped from level 2 to around level 6. Not sure if that's because of a time jump or skipped material for the demo.

I'm pretty certain it was an intentional skip for the demo's sake. Your mom did not just vanish in thin air, and the first meeting with Varric is probably a little less abrupt.

Anyway, it would be nice to hear from a dev if this is a demo-only issue or not...? About the loading I mean.

Ditto hoping it's a demo thing. I first noticed it in the initial conversation between Varric and Cassandra. It gets jarring to have a scene or conversation interrupted by a cheery little "loading..." just because the camera angle happens to shift or whatever.

Oh yes. WinXP 32bit, SP3.

Playing in windowed mode seems to have kicked the frequency of these down a notch. Phew. But it's playing in windowed mode, it's inherently wrong!

I'm having the same issue on Windows 7 x64. I really hope that this problem isn't in the final game. It really brings you out of the cinematic experience. The combat and everything else works flawlessly on my computer, so I'm pretty sure it's not on my end.

same issue here, on win7 64bit. kinda ruins the cutscenes...

edit:outside of  this little problem, which doesn't seem to be linked with specs... I can't believe how well my low-end computer is running this game :D

It's linked to V-Sync. As many people need V-Sync - me included - I really hope Bioware is aware and fixing...
