The odd thing is that I've played the demo twice now, and it happened a lot less the first time. Either way however, it really needs to be fixed in the final game. I'm not picky about graphics and such, but I'm not cool with having my cut-scenes ruined by loading time.

It's linked to V-Sync. As many people need V-Sync - me included - I really hope Bioware is aware and fixing...

Oh, really? I'll try it again with V-sync off. I don't think I particularly need it.

Can't remember all my system specs (sad I'm getting old) but they're below some of the stuff listed above. Running windows 7 64 on an ATI card.

Disabling v-sync helps some but it doesn't eliminate the issue entirely. I'm starting to suspect that this is by design.

I got the same thing - both when cutscenes trigger, and during them - really noticeable with the ones at the ends of the fights, like killing the ogre in the exaggerated version of events. Win 7 64 bit, here.

Vis disabling V-sync... what does V-sync do for you, in layman's terms, anyway?

Oh... and I noticed a couple of oddities in the storytelling bit between the escape sequence and Isabella's bit.

1. The volume for that part was MUCH louder than for the interactive parts, or the Varric and Cassandra cutscenes - I'm guessing that's to do with it being pre-recorded, or something.

2. They had Carver in my cutscene, despite the fact that I should have had Bethany (SheHawke, rogue, in case it makes a difference)

3. Aveline had different armour in the cutscene from her outfit before and after - I suspect that that's the armour she might have when you get to that point in the final game.

Anyway, these minor niggles asside, great demo; gonna have a hard time sitting through my working day tomorrow, with this waiting for my next playthrough (It's 10pm here; I need to start winding down towards sleep, lest I end up impersonating a zombie tomorrow morning. Otherwise, believe me, I wouldn't have stopped at one playthrough tonight.

What do you mean that it's 'by design'? Surely they wouldn't have changed this from how it worked in Origins (which i had no issues with whatsoever).

It would really be appriciated if we could get some official word on this and if the same issue is in the final game. I haven't really been worried about anything when it comes to Dragon Age 2 so far, but not being able to enjoy the cutscenes, which are (arguably) the best part of a Bioware game does make me a bit anxious.

I too have this annoying problem. Windows 7 64-bit, Geforce 470. I find this very immersion breaking. Not sure if I'll be buying this...

*Continues to wait and see if Bioware has a response for this or not*

As it stands, this is the only thing stopping me from my pre-order. I love the improved cinematic experience over the first (and it shows a lot!) but there's no point in having that if you continue to receive immersion-breaking loads mid-scene.

Mike Laidlaw had this to say in the feedback thread:

Mike Laidlaw wrote...
We had some problems with loading before conversations in some PC configurations that are likely what you've been experiencing. My wife's PC had similar issues, and I can happily confirm that hers no longer has this issue between the time we were working on the demo and the final builds of the game. Likely an issue that's already resolved in the shipping build.

I got the same issue. During cutscenes and some scene switches (like finishing the ogre). My system should handle it nicely.

Win7 64bit, 8 GB RAM, i7-860 2.8 ghz, ATI 5870.

Running as admin and turning off vsync made it a little better but I am expecting it to run smoothly through-out the whole game. I hope we will see a patch or something for the final version.

Same problem here on Vista 64-bit. No problems with frame rate or anything. Battles run super smooth. But cinematics and conversations keep having short loading pauses.

Please tell me this is just an issue with the demo.

Did you experience the problem before you turned off V-sync?

Turning Vsync off via the ingame menu fixed this problem for me. I imagine it can be forced on using the nVidia/ATI control panel after doing that.

Same here.

It did seem to get better in the Isabella part of the demo though.

Win7, 64bit, i7-870, radeon 5750.

Never had any problems running any games on this rig so far....

I'll probably have to fiddle around with the settings if it continues but since the demo has several graphic settings disabled, I'm hoping this is a demo problem.

I will be very unhappy if this problem is in the retail version, very annoying! (And kind of gamebreaking if you notice it in every dialogue).
