So when I go to start up the demo I get an error saying that it is unable to detect a supported video card.

I'm currently running with an ATI Radeon HD 4600 video card... not sure why it wouldn't be supported since the documentation supplied recommends an ATI Radeon HD 2600 pro 256 or better.

I've tried getting the latest drivers and that didn't help.  Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Are you using modified drivers? If you are try clean sweeping them with Driver Sweeper and installing the official ones.

I'm using drivers downloaded from the ATI website so I would think they are official ones.

You may have a corrupted / damaged file in your Graphics Driver, or your version of Direct3D, or in the Demo.  Start with a reinstallation of the Driver, then install the Direct3D system included in the Demo download, which apparently isn't done automatically with the Demo itself.  Retest at the completion of each step.  If necessary, reinstall the Demo.

(As of February 23, 2011, when I am adding this edit, the DA2 Demo has been out for about 18 hours or so, and this particular error message has been appearing there also.  In at least one case, by checking the ratio of height to width, for the video screen, and when found wrong, setting it correctly to suit the display has relieved the symptom.)

I've added the above note to a couple of the referenced archives in the DAO Tech Forum.

You may also want to try installing the DirectX redistributable to repair any broken files. I'm not talking about the "dxwebsetup.exe." Be warned, it's a hefty file (500-600MB).

Take note of the edit to my original answer also:

It works: my screen resolution is set at 1920 x 1080. When configuring the demo I set it at the maximum resolution without thinking (1600 x 1200) that there would be a problem. I just set it at a smaller resolution and unchecked "full screen"...the game runs fine.
