I've tried this twice now and it's crashed both times. What's the deal?

EDIT:

Icinix wrote...

Oddly enough - If you've got a DX10 card -
Selecting the DX11 renderer in the Configure screen allows you to
choose a higher detail level that makes use of DX10. Might be worth a
shot to see if that works too.

I'll have another stuff around and see if I can 'make' it crash.

This worked for me, give it a try if you're having the same issue.

There was some issue with DirectX...

Even if Windows claims to be up to date..it's missing some driver files or some such..hang on..I'll find the link..

Edit : Nevermind - just saw your post in the feedback thread.

Are you getting any error message or is it just dumping you to the desktop?

Exact same thing for me. Crashes after loading for a while. At first I thought it was because it couldn't connect to the Internet (firewall was asking for permission) but even with it allowed it still crashed.

I had no crashes whatsoever on the German leak demo, but I have crashed once in the English demo released today.

Or actually it froze and forced me to alt+tab out.

Happened on High settings/DX11 during a conversation after your brother/sister is killed.

Maybe try kicking everything to basic in the Configure screen of the Loader - See if you can't isolate the issue.

But since that's AFTER some combat already - seems like an odd issue to be related to graphics.. I couldn't replicate the issue though so I can't troubleshoot.

In your respective graphics control centers - make sure everything is set to application defined as well...had issues in the past with some games spazzing out if I tried to force AF or AA too high.

Yeah combat in the exaggerated portion worked just fine.

I'll try fiddling with settings I guess while I wait.

Oh and AA was already off by default. I believe all I changed was the resolution when I first loaded the demo.

Oh, also getting random "there is no disk in the drive" messages. They go away when you dismiss them but they're still annoying.

Attempting to run with DX11 renderer selected, will report back shortly.

Ok selecting the DX11 renderer fixed all my problems, strangely enough.

Except that annoying disk drive one.

Yeah I managed to cause the error...it appears to be something DX9 is rendering..weird..

When I dropped to 1680x1050 with DX9 at Medium settings with no AA...it crashed....

When running at 2560x1600 with DX11 at High and 2xAA...it floats like a butterfly..

Most bizarre thing I ever did see.

The demo doesn't actually support DX11, but selecting the DX11 renderer allows you to select DX10 'high' graphics.

Thanks,

I had the same problem at the CC screen and clicking next made it crash.

Ticking the DX11 box now fixes that problem ...

I have almost the same problem. I installed the demo with no problem. But I cannot play it. Says that d3dx11 wasnt installed. I cannot switch the renderer from 9 either. Uncheking vsynch and aa doesnt help either. I am stuck :(

Ideas?

Well, I just found what it was... and worked for me. Hope it work for you guys.

Run Dx Setup located on:

Dragon Age 2 Demo/ redist/ directx

It will install all the missing files from dx9, 10 and 11.

Good luck!
