Hey guys. So after hours i finally downloaded the dragon age 2 demo excited to play it (Downloaded using Chrome)
Then i go into downloads folder and double click the launcher and the folder freezes and my mouse shows the loading icon. Thats as far as it gets nothing happens, i tried to restart pc and try again but same problem. Currently left for about 8/9 minutes now so i dont know wether to keep waiting as i watch the loading icon next to the cursor or if theres some fix someone has discoverd.
Sorry if this question has already been asked but i couldnt see a post properly for it yet.
Thanks

I had the same problem (Vista 32 bit). However it did eventually run after repeated attempts. Eventually a "Dragon Age II Demo Installer needs your permission to continue" dialogue popped up.

Oh! After waiting for 15(!) minutes the installer finally started :) So perhaps if you guys wait a while longer too (take a shower or something) it'll start working for you as well?

Perhaps running it as Administrator might speed up the load time?

apparently the demo has a problem with UAC of Windows 7/Vista. it's not even the demo's problem since I have had this problem with other games/software as well, it's just that UAC is too slow and sometimes freezes. just turn off the UAC and install the demo then turn it back on. stupid UAC, all it ever does is pissing me off.

Wow smallNightmare, I was about to post this! YOU MUST TURN OFF UAC! Heres the steps:

1. Go to start menu and type msconfig

2 .Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" . Click on that line.

3. Press launch button.

4. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.

5. Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

I left mine for about 13mins haha D:.

I tried running as admin and it froze. Tried running it in compatibility for windows xp didnt work.

I'll try UAC but still letting it download through steam which wont take long cause the speed is good on steam

I disabled the UAC by Phrozenfury's steps but I'm still having the same issue.

Confirmed. Turning off UAC lets the installer launch.

It launched for me after clicking somewhere in the screen... Keep in mind that the installer is around 2GB, meaning it takes a little time to load into memory. UAC may slow this down because it might be scanning the binary data as it's being transferred.
