First note: the Bioware social network don't remember my Mass Effect account, I reregistered with the same e-mail...

Dear Bioware I loved all your games from KoTOR and the Mass Effect is my favorite game. I waited the  Dragon age, but I've a bit disappointment. That's a good you want make a long gameplay time with good buying value. But I think this long playtime is too shallow. I played 17 hours. At this time (so shorter at 15 hours) I finish the ME at first time, and I get unforgatable experiences. But in the DA under 17 hours I didn't know much about the world, the story, the characters and didn't really changed the world's destiny. But for some minor objective (at the main storyline!) I fought through endless maps, labirints with too much unnecessary HUGE levels... so BORING! There's so much bosslike enemis without story. I was so unhappy at the dwarf king elect missions... I made so much very looong mission but after every mission I got nothing but only an other mission...:sick:

I fought so very very much in the caves after other caves without speeching, making decisions, changing story, being excited. And the game is so too hard. I finish all of your games from KOTOR, but here I must near all battle replay 2-3-4 times at EASY level. It so boring and tiring.

I hope your next games make more ME like, with not so very huge boring maps. For longer play time is better to make that in sidequest.

An other wish: please take some time to the translations. At the hungarian verison the warden is "kamaras" means: chamberlain/gentleman of the bedchamber...

... I really can't see your point when your using Mass Effect as the comparison.. A game that had a large amount of the game go through large areas with not much change.. Infact thats what all the side quests were all about..

DA no story? I must be playing another game then. I'm on my second playthrough and the only place where I felt a bit annoyed was the Deep Roads because it's HUGE. Without counting Deep Roads, that I think it's great anyway, everywhere else is simply amazing.

DA in under 17 hours and no story? I agree with Belevorn, you must be playing a different game. I'm something like 50 hours into my game and still only about halfway through. Then again, I talk to EVERYONE. There's a LOT of story if you stop and take the time to talk to people and not just blast through the game as quick as possible.

Why are you reviewing this game inclusive of spoilers here in the General forum? Why did you not register the game and post it in the Spoiler forum?

I think it's quite clear the OP is very young and mostly looking for some FPS-y action

His complaint isn´t the game being 17 hours BUT that he hasn´t finished it in that time.

First time i see someone complaining for shorter games xD

Nothing wrong with your tastes amigo, but you picked the wrong game. DA:O was intentionally designed to be a slower-paced, tactical game.

Fear not, Mass Effect 2 will be out before you know it.

I have to agree with OP. Story elements were very minimal in this game compared to BG 2 or ME.

it seems that way, confused the hell out of me honestly my brain just couldn't compute that someone wanted a game to be shorter  That's got to be a first.

As for lack of story how do you not see the story? Honestly I'm finding DA to be the best BioWare story to date the twist the world has on the standard fatansy makes for some of the most interesting and tense moments I've seen in a game thus far (ME included). It seems like if you're not getting the story you must be glazing over all of the information about the story you have at your disposal, it's not to hard to follow if you pay the least bit of attention or ask at least one npc to explain something.

Honestly I loved the maps and frequent boss-like fights, the deep roads where exhausting and tough but that's with good reason you're fighting quite literally into the heart of darkspawn territory on that mission, it's not going to be easy. Yes combat is tough but if you have a basic understanding of how your party's abilities and spells work easy should not be too much trouble for you.

I love this game and it is very rich with background information on the game world and the people that populate it. Of course it needs to be since Bioware invented it from scratch. And that is a GOOD thing!

I am about 20 hours in, and I can potentially see what the OP (and Mr. Beaver) are saying to some extent. When I think about the story / plot, it has only taken about a total of 20 minutes of my 20 hours of gameplay to get the 'story' part.

I'd say DA 2 will have a much richer story since it won't need to focus so much on fleshing out the game world.

Just beat the game last night. Was definitely one of the best RPG experiences I have ever had. That said, I can understand where the OP is coming from. The particular part he is taking about was the worst part of the game for me, by far (bear in mind, worst in relation to ths rest of the game. It was still well done, if not overly long). It became very tedious, and I was actually just putting some fights on easy. Not because they were too tough for me, but so I could get through it and get to more story!

Besides that particular area, I think the rest of the game was wonderfully paced, with the right amount of story/fighting.

Again, are you playing the same game? I find the story far more immersive and intriguing in this game than in Mass Effect. I spent a straight hour and a half just talking to my party members in my camp once and my total time in there probably tops three hours while my total playtime is only 33.

I do agree that the Deep Roads bit was quite tedious.

This fellow is just not looking for this type of game. Its an RPG, it is supposed to unfold slowly and I personally love the difficult combat. Hard to believe he enjoyed KOTOR and not this.

The story isn't just told in cut scenes and quest log entries, its told via your characters interactions with others, little notes/items found in the world. Books, locations, enemies, allies, etc. The story in this game is amazingly deep.. but you have to want to learn about it and experience it. If all you do is run through the game and see the story through cut scenes..well, yes it will be 'short' in comparison to play time. If you take the time to talk to people (including companions), read the books in the world, notice little things, pick up notes and read codex entries then you will hae a ton of story.

I don't just run through the game, just I say there's to much fighting needed to complete quests. As the fighting in the Fade is very irritating, boring. Fade looks like something symbolic but it's just meaningless and huge. As in the Wolves caves where there is lot of meaningless, only time consuming undeads just for fighting...

The story in this game isn't amazingly deep (after 35 hours
too!).
There is much cliche, elements from Lord of the rings etc. May there is good replay value from the decisions but the game is too long for me to play through more times, especialy because I must play much boring fighting.

I agree, the game is just too boring. The quality is excellent but the pace needs to be quickened. I'm just not engaged enough to see the game through to completion. Nothing has taken me by surprise and even choosing interesting dialog options usually results in a ho-hum response. I'd rather curl up with a good book to fall asleep.

So the complaint here is that DAO is too much game?

Sure, after 17 hours you could know all of ME's story, but that's because ME's story was really short and quite shallow. DAO's story is much, much longer, and thus has a lot more room in it to develop characters and allow for nuance.

After 17 hours, you're probably nowhere near the end of the game.

What, this guy want's a SHORTER game?!?! You were expecting to change the world in less than 17 hours of gameplay?
Once again, research a $50 game BEFORE you buy it. Maybe then you won't be disappointed because YOU were mistaken about what the game consisted of...

KotOR's story developed quite quickly.  One of my primary complaint about KotOR was that everything happened too fast.

Deep Roads and Fade were quite a pain but I've enjoyed most of the rest of the game. I still haven't passed the game but its good to know there is something new to play every day I boot up the game. True that it takes some time to travel through battles before actually getting to cutscenes but this is still a game. If you're bored of taking too many battles you could always do as someone suggested and switch the difficulty to easy to pass the tedious parts quickly. You can't expect every game to be perfect and you can't expect to please everyone when making a game. People have different tastes and this was made for extensive gameplay for lots and lots of play time combined with a variety of story in different formats like codex, companion conversations, etc.
