The staggering chance on impact is gravy.

I played both Sword and Shield Warrior and Archer Rogue.

Compared to each other, the S&S Warrior takes down things slower, but can last a lot longer alone.

The Archer Rogue is a beast when it comes to taking down bosses and multiple enemies though. Especially since there's very limited aggro gained while doing it. Rain of Arrows is godly when well placed.

I'll be playing both with two separate Hawkes once the main game comes in the mail.

I highly recommend trying out Archer Rogues. You won't regret it.

I really like Archery right now. It definitely makes the choice between Rogue Archer and Mage very difficult. The new abilities are lovely too. An arrow that explodes into shrapnel that sets enemies on fire? HELL YES.

I really like what they have done with archery. From what we've seen in the demo, I'd say it is on par with mages in AoE damage. A very nice change, seeing in many games bows are weaker than the other weapons. I'll probably roll my first Hawke as an archer after this.

Using the murdering knife when enemies get in melee range looked a bit odd though, but hey at least it's a skill point you save for other things, without the need of melee archer. :P

It's as overpowered as the mage.

I was loving that the archer dosn't do the spin kick animation for miasmic flask and confusion, just flings it at them.

And they don't roll facefirst into enemies either. Archer rogue looks like an actual combattant.

archery is so strong that Varric is a constant maintainer of aggro, none of my tanks could get the enemies off him teehee.

The Archer Tank was a viable character in DAO.  It looks like he might be in DA2, as well.

Rogues seem to have enough mobility that they can sorta "tank" an ogre--hit backstab at the right time to avoid attacks, hit evade, or just do the old-fashioned turn and run trick.  The way you jump back into combat makes playing like that a lot more fun.  I guess that's off-topic from archery, though.

It's too powerful... it's drawing me... in... But I want to be a warrior....

I mean, seriously, even arrow rain does a crap ton of damage and so dies the firestorm spell, so why is Warrior 2-Handed so weak in comparison?

so i assume we can have crossbows as an archer? regardless, the weight of the attacks and the variety of cool things a rogue seems to be able to do have pretty much convinced me that this is the class to choose. loved the addition of the knife for close range melee too.

Still need to give it a shot (see what I did there?)

It's too powerful.  You start out with the strongest autoattack in the game (not only is it the highest DPS, but it also has a mini-knockback), you have a **** ton of utility, and on top of all that you  have the most powerful AoE in the game.

Someone has to be the best. It's a hevey burden sure, but ArcherRogue is willing to bear it.

Honestly we've seen like an hours worth of play with half the content locked, it's a bit soon to be calling anything overpowered.

Rogue archer was really fun. But I found myself wishing that I didn't have to press the 'a' button for every attack. Also, the loose targeting (on Xbox) made it hard to target enemies without using the d-pad. Still, very fun class build.

2 handed warrior doesn't even do HALF the damage of archer rogue's normal attack.

Even against mages, a two-handed warrior seems to be heavily outdamaged by a bow.

I just hope a warrior gets better the higher level you are. My Warrior Hawke got to critical health about as quickly as a mage or rogue. This could also be because we couldn't change our equipment and I hope that is the case as well.

I agree, archery feels great. Thing only thing is that iot looks like it will deal SOOOO much damage so if I'm gonna play archer then I will also need to build a good tank.

We'll talk again after you've played the full game. You think the Ogre in the demo was tough? Think again!

I'm still debating whether I'll stick with my usual Sword and Shield Warrior to start or roll with an Archer Rogue first.

Archer Rogue is fun as HELL.

dunno about Hawke archer as i never played it...but Varric and Bianca are the ultimate duo

In the batlle against Hayder...all my party was on him while Varic took the adds...he pretty much obliterated them alone...i think archery might be a bit overpowered but i am loving it...Varic is a must be in any party
