Archery was very nice. I'm not sure how helpful the skills will be, though. The hail of arrows seemed very underpowered.

hail of arrows seemed amazing to me , best skill in the whole demo . When there were 2 archers using it on a group it was very very powerful.[/quote]

I can't pick anything else but an archer now.
Agreed. I was determined to deviate from my usual path, which is to always play a rogue in every game in which roguing (?) is possible. Well clearly that's not gonna happen. Sheesh, thanks Bio. B******s.

thanks to one poster mentioning the lack of quiver it now begins to bug me >_>...
Could be that in the main game they are present though... I hope so (I do get the lack of it though, as it could incite alot of clipping or floating if you want some special rogue armors...)
About that mysterious dagger, I ain't seeing one he just seems to slap the foes... would be sort of interestinf if he were to use an arrow in his hand to stab with....
Arrows would snap. Daggers would hold their own.
Considering you would aim at the neck with an arrow it wouldn't be such a problem, plus if someone gets up close and you are already holding your arrow...
But still I want to see them do something with something, and not just slap them..
Stabbing them with a dagger up close is good enough for me.
I just noticed that hawke is wielding a dagger, there seems to be a bug which let it dissapear from her hands... hope that's fixed then, thought she was just using her bare hands
EDIT: on a side note,a move what would be kind of usefull is if you could launch a spray of arrows forward, would be kind of handy is you can get a whole group of rushing darkspawn to stagger a bit, like three arrows simultanious shot (or 5 )

I dislike it-its magic not archery.
Yeah, you said that already. Elaborate.

You mean like a mage's freeze attack, only for staggering? In a forward arc?
DA2 cone of cold you mean? (Can't quite remember the xact effect of that)
Well I guess it be something like a regurlar shot, where the opponent gets stopped for one sec while they are coming at you, only then a like a five arrow spread shot forward, that halts the opponent longer...
Would be handy in combination with Area of effect attacks I suppose, I also often find myself switching between oponents to halt them a bit before my tank gets in place to take the punsishment, having an attack which shoots and halts multiple oppoennts for a sec would be quite more hanyer then switching targets...

I love how you don't have to carry around random bombs and poisons and instead have them as skills.

Totally, in theory I like the concept of alchemy and creating your own bombs etc, but in practise I could just never be bothered to do it. And that backflip move the rogue does where it gets you out of range of the enemy and stuns them is awesome. Rogue is all awesome in this one.

I think in a vacuum the rogue indeed does the best dps and I agree that the archer rogue is a LOT of fun, but I will stick with my mage for my first play through (with apologies to betheny) for my first play through. Archer may well be my second however:)

Have three archers and a tank on your team(or just two archers with two warriors or a warrior and mage) and you can focus all AOE arrow attacks on anyone encircling the tank.
Periodic and methodical destruction.

I'll probably play my second playthrough as one though, as I've already commited to mage-all-the-way.

Like I said before, I just hope that if archery is that powerful at the starting game, it stays that way throughout the whole game instead of being gimped by end-game.

Well it was powerful in DA:O with the right setup. By the time I was in Awakening I was doing 400 damage crits with nothing but autshots.
