List of Bugs in the PC Demo

A lot of "loading..." during conversations, mostly with Cassandra and Varric.
Sometimes the game minimized and I was prompted to place the disk in the drive.
In the level up screen, when trying to level up different characters (by pressing the arrows on their portraits) it would lead me straight back into the game.
Other than those small annoyances I really enjoyed the demo! Looking forward to the release even more XD.

After he got back up the only thing I could do with him was move around and use abilities that didn't need a selected target, like whirlwind.
The cursor always would remain the default cursor, I couldn't select a target or interact with anything, like looting a body or chest.
I exited to the main menu and startet a new game. The same problem from the beginnig.
It only worked again after I excited to desktop and ran the demo again.
Other minor problems:
The cooldown for potions should be visible.
The cooldown for healing is a joke, right?!
AoE spells used automatically through tactics mostly miss due to flawed targeting (Yes, I'm looking at you Bethany!) and renders them useless!

Fired it up last night and had to play it several times to be sure I wasn't imagining what I was seeing. I'm not certain if it's just because this is a demo, but on every playthrough I've done the texture detail has been uneven in different areas across the board regarding clothing, armor, and equipment, particularly in close up cutscenes (but not cinematics. Those look great.). I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that because it's A) a demo and
D) the demo release says version 1.00 in the window on window mode. Would like to think that BW is much further ahead than v1.00; anyone know?
Gameplay Issues:One of the major gameplay issues I had was when playing as a Rogue on either render setting, using Backstab could cause the camera to do a funky swivel/gyration/roration of about 180 degrees from side to side very quickly after appearing behind the target. It would settle, but only after 5-10 seconds.
Bethany's AoE targeting misses. Every. Single. Time. Please. Help her. Give her glasses or fix the tactic/combat programming.
The pathing (clicking a dead opponent to walk over and loot) would sometimes catch on nonexistent barriers/ corners (usually as a rogue), lag, or stop at the corpse and do nothing, forcing me to click again.
When I tested the tactics as opposed to controlling every aspect of combat, they performed pretty much exactly as advertised, which was very well. There were some menu issues where the mouse would get lost when creating a custom template, but I could always escape back and then re-enter the menu and it will work again.
In regards to visuals, there are some things I just can't not notice.
Randomly uneven texture detail/rendering across the board for characters in cutscenes; these are less noticable/not apparent during gameplay and cinematics. Pay attention to the bindings of mages staves, and then compare them to the quality of the clothing/armor being worn, and then compare them to the metalwork detail put into the shields, staff ornaments, and swords during conversations, as well as the clothes and armor being worn themselves. Notice how the quality varies from character to character and equipment to equipment? And then on another playthrough, check them again. They can and do look different - sometimes higher quality or maybe the way they were meant to look, as opposed to blurry.
Ran every possible permutation of both renderers - only including DX9 seeing as DX11 is know to be unsupported.- angular areas of faces have very prominent clipping issues on low setting and somewhat noticeable clipping issues on medium: the eyebrows and eyelids are examples, but nearly every surface that could have a tangent line drawn from it (noses, chins, cheeks, etc) on some faces is "clippy". Most noticable on the dwarf in the beginning and from certain angles on some character faces during cutscenes.
Sounds: Brilliant, good balance of FX and soundtrack, which is also excellent. I plan on getting this soundtrack as well when it comes out. No apparent issues.
Reasons I still love this demo to bits:
-The class balancing - a lot to love and not a whole lot to dislike for each class (except the locked material. That just would have made it plenty more epic, and would have whet our tongues further).
-The frantic combat and blood spattering on characters gives the whole demo a kind of gritty feeling. I like it.
-The spells look like they'd actually hurt you if they were aimed out of the screen.
-The menu system (not the UI) is excellent. Clean, fast, and good looking. Please keep it.
Overall, BW has done a pretty darn good job with this demo. I'm fairly excited for March 8th from all this - if we can get a list of things that have been fixed/improved/changed before then I will be a happy camper.

Again the tactics screen, currently it's unusable:
* you can't clear a new setting
* clicking something sometimes changes the setting to another value altogether
* where is the option to use potions from the tactics screens?
Quick heal is not working as supposed, either you can use it or you can't use the option, but if you can't use the option to actually heal the selected char, DON'T enable the option, if there is a cool down for heal SHOW it.
Although I think this was based on old E3 demo, like it was said before, you don't release a buggy demo.
As for DX11, maybe I got lucky but on DX11 High 1680x1050, 4xAA and 2x Aniso I didn't notice any major issues.
But sadly I have to say that I didn't notice that much difference in the graphics from DA:O to this.
In any case the combat overall is top notch, rogue is a bit too much acrobatic for my taste though.

only issues im having:
- several CSs are not full screen, weather 1920x1080 or eyefinity size, they seem to be vertically centered in my middle screen at roughly 800x1080 very weird.
-secondly, in game i have absolutely no action bar, no 1-8 hotkeys at the in my bottom panel, no way of dropping abilities onto the panel (yes my panel is displayed, not hidden)

-The tactics screens seems very buggy at the moment: after clicking on a few icons the game will no longer properly register where the mouse cursor is, and seemingly assign conditions and actions at random. The only way I've found to fix this is to go out and back into the tactics screen after assigning either a condition or an action, making it extremely laborious to properly configure Hawke's party.
Cheers !
YES!!! Hope this gets fixed before release. Tactics is extremly buggy for any character you try. Conditions and actions don't stick and change.

If you are using Firefox browser you should try the Fire download manager it really worked great to speed up the download.
I am using a laptop so I could not use the configure utility so I had to go into the files and start it from there.

IN the middle of the fight-suddenly, all I can do is kite them around using the W key until they finally run out of health and die.
So far, not inspired to pre-order by this demo, no matter how pretty the characters are modeled.

Warrior, exaggerated scene--did not get the cutscene where Hawke kills the Ogre. Skipped straight to the dragon fly-by.

Tactics Screen Selection Problems: Check.
Healing Potion Usage Problems: Check.
Party Members Occasionally Unresponsive Even When Attacked: Check.
Once, in the 2nd fight in Kirkwall I could not select anything onscreen with the main character except items in the Quick Bar. Which meant you could not attack or pick up items. Seemed to clear up after the fight was over by going to the character screen and back again.
Also noticed that going into the first fight in Kirkwall we were all injured. Possibly a carry-over from the previous Lothering battle?
Obviously, the auto-attack AoE ability targeting is an issue. But I noticed that even when all the combatants were stationary occasionally they would throw an AoE power well away from the fight.

Unresponsive party members, did anybody else get this? I've had it badly both times I've played, to the point I just didn't bother with my second play.
Basically some or all of your party members just become totally unresponsive, you can select them but no matter how much I click they just wouldn't move, they just stand there, the only way I could snap them out of this was to use an ability, use fireball for Beth and she would become responsive again, doesn't work with carver as you can't get him to use the talent he has in non combat situations, so he is just left stood there as you run off up the map.
I had this too, started right after the first darkspawn fight. It lasted for the whole of the demo, except for the start of the Kirkwall segment. After the first fight there everyone was rooted to the spot again. Didn't try using abilities with the characters to see if that did anything, so thanks for that tip.
That was my biggest gripe with the demo. Also had the silent Wesley, health potions not activating (didn't use mana potions), and the frequent loading screens.
I've only played once so far, but I had a pathing issue with my warrior Hawke. Aveline and Carver had no problem running round the side of the ridge that the darkspawn archers were on, but my Hawke was determined to run through the ridge unless I manually directed her up the other side.

I had an odd issue : Bathany's corpse spoke to me.. She was dead.. i guess not as much dead as i thought.
Other thing is that Hawke's head drowned in rocks while jumping here and there on the battlefield and i couldn't move him out.

- The demo seemingly randomly decides to log you out your account. I had to re-login to my account after completing the demo and play through again to unlock Hayder's Razor.
I have the same problem except I can't re-login. My keyboard doesn't type even though it's hooked up and powered as I have my number key lock always on. And have close the game out every time to log back in. I'd like to unlock this weapon for the main game but I've done the demo several times and still get logged out by the time the main screen shows again. I've doen both skipping cut scenes and watching through them.

Pretty much this. I had a character die because of the healing potion usage problems. =\\ I tried twice, both times it said he was using the healing potion, but there wasn't any response.

Anyone else mess with it at all?
Also, it seems that the texturing stuff I posted earlier is more a case of having a high res screen with low res-texturing close up, and the uneven/random texturing may have been fixed by defragging. I hope that if the default max textures are still somewhat low res, we might have access to tools to mod and therefore fix them? Pretty please, Bioware?

After trying to pause and target for a fireball. I changed my mind and unpaused the game to find I was unable to click anything on the game 'field'. I could click characters portraits and switch character and upon re-slecting my character it seemed to fix itself.
Initial problem with sound (voice) was fixed as it does not work in surround and you have to change something to 2 speakers.
Also, though more a something broken - female Hawkes neck as she runs, (wobble, wobble side to side) needs fixing :0
A few time I told group to use potions and they never did.
The only pausing with a 'Loading..' I have experianced in my various play throughs is at the same spot in a conversation between the dwarf and Seeker.

- Can´t scroll the view. Got it the way up by some magical key combination but not down again(something changed till DAO?)
Before mentioned:
- Crashing after character customisation. Fixed by VSYNC OFF (but dont know why its default on while its causing troubles in many games ?)
- Looting stopped and had to click again
- Loadings between conversation
- Tactics messed up, let it be because it was so hard to choose anything
- Area effets were hard to aim, had to aim targets legs for effect
- Characters just standing and waiting for orders though the field is full of enemies, thougth it would be fixed from DAO.
Thats all I can remember for now.
