pretty much what Maria Caliban told you, i'd also recommend playing a Rogue/Archer, use Evade to keep your Distance from hostiles and otherwise kill smaller Darkspawn who try to go after Beth and Aveline. Switch to Beth repeatedly to throw Fireballs, and if Avelines Health is getting low, switch to her and make her take a health potion.

How are you having trouble? I didn't use any tactics and beat it. Maybe rogues are too easy?

I found I died the most when playing a warrior. Rogue had the best result, second Mage.

Oh and protect your mage!

I found sword and shield hawke beat the ogre pretty easy compared to twohander, i beat it with both just used more healing potions with twohander. just make sure beth has heal. Have your tank keep the ogre busy and use ure other two party members focus on the lesser darkspawn first. Also if you loot everyting before the encounter you will have a couple of healing potions which was how i survived with twohander.

I've only had trouble with the ogre's, first and second, with the dual weild rogue, it's dps is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, and I think it's glitchy cuz I swear it's not hitting jack squat 90% of the time. Well I guess the first ogre isn't that "hard" I guess, just takes freaking forever. The ogres were easy with my 2H warrior, mage, and archer. Haven't tried W/S, never been a fan of it.

Just be tactical, and attack the Ogre above all else. Its not that hard. Then again I'm playing a Mage so I might have had a easier time of it. Heres my strategy with my Mage Hawke.

Just keep throwing fireballs when the darkspawn get in a group, use Winters Grasp on the Ogre whenever you have the opportunity. If Aveline, and Carver get overwhelmed by the group of darkspawn. Run in, and use mind blast, and avoid all hurl attacks. Thats it. Oh, and always kill Archers first.

According to those people who are too damn good to play this "dumbed down POS for retarded console kiddies", all you have to do is mash the buttons in a random pattern and the game will win itself.

When the ogre looks like hes gonna charge ..... move to the side.

When the ogre raises his hands, he is going to aoe smash the ground so move away.

Easy.

Oh and take out the darkspawn before you focus on the ogre.

I beat that crap with a mage Hawke and Rogue Hawke. Use a rogue to keep poofing in and out of combat range; use a mage to heal your warriors.

I dunno. I always had an easier time of it just focusing on the Ogre, then dealing with the minions. When I tried focusing on the enemies it just took too long, and my team mates were getting the **** kicked out of them by that Ogre. But I guess your way makes sense too.

I'm finding Move to Point is great for kiting the ogre. If you can get Aveline to aggro the waves of darkspawn far enough away from it, with your other members clustered, all you have to do is wait for it to charge/throw rocks, pause, and tell everybody to move to point at a right angle to the ogre's line. You get free crowd control on the darkspawn.

I played all three classes and found mage hardest. Probably because I only had minor heal and because I specced wrong. In that case I took my tank (carver or aveline) and kited the mobs while hawke shoots one after the other. And whenever heal is up, use it.

With warrior or rogue it was rather easy. Let Aveline tank the ogre, let beth heal her and kill all the small darkspawn, and keep them from bethany.

Same with me lol .. But that merely because i was not taking the difficulty seriously.Than when i realized the game during that part was actually challenging me a little..I was basicly dead.So i kited it with 30 $ hp left and no potion left .. He actually killed me...

the 2 other playthrough .. it's was a walk in the park.
