Huge fan of DA...been looking forward to this demo with a countdown clock...

6.5 hours in and I've downloaded from this site 3x, steam once, and fileplanet once....all of them failed, though apparently for different reasons.  When I download from here it usually stops before the download finishes for some reason or other--the one time it finished there was an NSIS error w/e the hell that means during installation.  When downloading from steam it seems to work...boot up the demo, click play...it scans system and fails about 1/5 way in saying that the configuration utility failed.

Before today there was no doubt I'd get this game...but if you can't even make a demo work without making me jump through insane amounts of loops....how bad is it going to be to get the damn game to work?

Never thought I'd be so upset to be a fan of bioware. Image IPB

The Servers are being hit hard. Although there are a few other mirrors which you are trying too. The Demo is a large size so depending on your connection it may take a while to fully download.

Have you tried using a download manager? That may help if download time is excessively long and being interrupted.

Have to agree with the OP here. I've tried four times and each time it failed. First after it downloaded a little over 500MB, the second time after 200MB, the third time after 1.5GB and the fourth time was the worst of them all because it actually got right to the end and instead of showing me a download complete message, I got an error message telling me that the file could not be saved. I'm definitely giving up on this demo, I've got better things to do with my time. As for the full game, I'll probably rent it, just to be safe.

Have you guys tried Steam. I had issues with the DAII site download links (low speeds, downloads kept stopping) but the Steam download has been impeccable so far.

I'm sorta in same boat... I'm now 7 hours 10 minutes into my FIRST attempted download (about 3 more hours till it's finished). I know it's not on MY end I've called my ISP and there is no issues in my area so it's on Bioware's side. What worries me more than the completely unacceptable download speed is, you've got another BIG game around the corner that WILL need as much speed as it can get. I have a feeling that is partly why you're doing the whole 1 million downloads thing to stress test your infrastructure, it's not looking real good and doesn't bode real well for your other big title that's coming soon....

...Are you kidding me people? They released a demo. A public demo. Just like the servers on Call of Duty, the first few hours/days, the servers crash constantly. I'm guessing Bioware didn't have a bunch of servers prepared for this, which is no fault on them, they released a DEMO, not a full game.

It's also worth noting that the game does not take place online at all...

Regardless, if you don't want the game don't get it.

I feel like people are trying to make excuses for themselves not to play the game.

No skin off my back.

Try using a Torrent like I did. Many peersharing sites such as Piratebay should have the torrents available.

You're one of those people that skim posts in a thread and then assume you know what folks are talking about. I'm not angry about the demo, I've actually been looking forward to it. I never said ANYTHING about the demo requiring online play (outside of having to log on to your EA account). What I DID say was I'm concerned about Bioware's OTHER big game, that most if not all of us are also waiting for that IS an online game.

Ya at the time when I started Steam didn't have their demo up. I just started downloading it now... Sad part is it's been running for 20 minutes and is just over 60% complete.... where as the one from here has been running for well going on 8 hours (give or take 20 minutes) and is barely at 48%....

Yeah, it's hard to get the demo downloaded, but once you do you should be ok.

If you are having a problem with it telling you that you dont have like Dx9_3kj.dll or whatever file, then odds are it's a case of Windows Vista and having a barebones version of Direct X... You must go to Windows com and download Direct X 9.

Hopefully the Steam download will be finished by the time I'm done posting this. Steam slowed/stalled for a minute or 2... but I've been fortunate with getting between a 900-950kb/sec. Still slugging along with the download from here it *might* break 55% by midnight (average speed is like 20-30kb/sec)....

It's a large file, and I tend to go with torrents once the files get over the gig mark. Here's where I got it: http://www.gamershel...oad_70000.shtml

On the PC? I heard the Xbox download is much faster, but I don't see how you could get it that fast on the PC.

You sir are awesome! Thank you very much for the link. :) Downloaded it, tried it, the combat definitely looks good and as for the rest, I can't really say much about it, since there's not enough of it in the demo.

Which has nothing to do with downloading a demo for Dragon Age...

If you're concerned about the game, why do you bring it up in a Dragon Age board?
