I played Mass Effect 1 through twice with a custom female Shepard. At the time I did not know that I would regret not writing down the character customization code. Now I am on my first play through of Mass Effect 2 with the same imported character. Is there a way to retrieve the code in the middle of the game?

For the 360, ME1 does not have creation codes. I also would like my sheps creation codes but I cant get it, because ME1 does not have the creation codes. And ME2 does not give you a creation code for a character that you import from ME1.
