Notice the same problem with low volume level.

I was running the PC demo, with DirectX set to 11 (to prevent crash after character selection). All audio settings were at the demo default.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

OS: Vista 32-bit

Sound: Realtek

Driver Version: 6.0.1.5567

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

video driver: nvdia ver. 260.99

Didn't get a chance to play through it last night (circumstances didn't yield the opportunity), but I adjusted the sound setting this morning as per Mr HimuraChan's suggestion and played a few minuted before the kids got up. Seemed to work for me. I'll try to get a full run through this morning.

Update: finished the demo and adjusting the sound setting worked perfectly. No other real issues that aren't demo-related (ie. some stutter and hesitation when loading some cutscenes and finishing moves, but Fernando said that's been worked out for the final build).

Yeah this was a pretty annoying problem for me and there weren't any workarounds that I could find. I could turn the music and effects volume so I could hear voice audio but when it got up to the Varric scenes it was really loud. I'm guessing this will be fixed in the first proper version of the game.

I found that the demo does not work with surround sound. It misses out the voices. I changed to 2 speakers rather then 5.1 (audio software) and it works fine.

Echo all of the above, plus a new one. During the scene with Flemeth, some dialogue was clipped off before the sentence was complete. Then the next sentence would be fine. Happened again in the Chantry near the end, but nowhere else. Since no one else here mentioned it, this might be a problem with my audio card drivers, and I'll try reinstalling them. But thought I would note it here.

Hopefully, the audio level issues will be solved in the final release, because they're certainly irritating in the demo. But, oh that combat! Nice. Overall, the demo really got me wanting the game.

I have this issue too. I was able to beat the demo with in in forced stereo mode, but after a reboot with that same setting on it's not working any more.

Having same problem as others with the voice volume. Where I experience it is in all the cutscenes. I can turn volume up very loud and hear them but they sound like they are in an echo chamber that is under water. Turning on the force stereo lets the voices in game be heard. Major problem is with the cutscenes.

After just playing the demo again off Steam, I have the problem too. Didnt realize it the first time, but now I have to try these solutions, and see if they work.

Unfortunately, you guessed wrong.  The final version is just as buggy re sound effects.
