I have been downloading the DA 2 demo since 11:00 this morning, central standard time. My download started out at about 295/300 kb a second and deteriated to 55/60 kb per sec, with variations from 34 to 70 kbs. I have been downloading 7 hours now, and I don't understand why it's taking so long. I downloaded from the DA 2 website where a box said download here. Now I see a lot of other possible download sites, but I'm afraid if I stop mine, it'll take another 7/9 hrs.
right now it's sayng 73% of 1 file done. What's the story about the time it's taking? My pc has win xp, but I have almost 175 gigabites free. Any answers here?

yes I know all about that I am still downloading it from yesterday but I bet it will be worth it

I downloaded also from DA 2 homepage but i was done in 2 hours.

Ehm what? There is nothing illegal about torrents... It is often a distribution method for copyrigthed matherial which is illegal but HTTP downloads are used for that too.
If someone downloaded the demo from a torrent that is fully legal...

As for the downloads speed, had 180-250 kbit/s all the way trough.

Try Steam. Since the content server is different, my speed has been maxed out.

I managed to get it downloaded twice from the main page(EA) and both times it must have timed out etc. when I went to install had that stupid error. I am downloading it of Steam now, and it hovers between 135kb to 250kb, a couple times at 600kb.

Well since I've been downloading from the DA 2 site for seven and a half hours and it now swings from 1 hour, 46 minutes to 2 hours, 33 min remaining, I guess I'll just wait and see if it completes. If not, I guess I'll have to try again, but I really don't know where. : (

Tried from the DA2 site, speed never got above 24kb/s. Went to Fileplanet and got the full download in under an hour (520kb/s roughly) using the free for anyone servers. Everything went smooth, logged into the EA account and it registered, beat the demo and got the razor.

Are you joking? Chris was the one who *gave us* the link to the torrent site.

I've already been informed of the difference in using torrent to steal copyrighted material, and  using it for a download. I wasn't aware there was a difference and was kindly corrected.  : )

my download went from 900kb a sec to 1.2mb a sec....i have good internet though....Direct download from the main site....I was also logged in if that made a difference.

After nine and a half hours of downloading, I finally got to the installation, and finished it. When I started to play I got the missing dx message and had to update my dx too. Then I could finally play the demo. I agree with whoever said that the downloads should have been staggered over a longer period of time, instead of the server jam-up that happened Tuesday.



I'm really glad that I ordered the game on disk, I hate to think how long that download is going to be...
