Arbor Falls~
a Persistent World by Lord of Worms.
website: http://arborfalls.dyndns-web.com
direct connect: 24.25.137.42:5121

Ok, there are a million great PW's out there to choose from so why check out mine?
Well there are a few reasons, and maybe these are reasons that don't entice you in which case no hard feelings and thanks for checking out this link at the least.

but for those that do get intrigued, I urge you to give us a shot, we could use some more life in our world and I know of many players that play here solo due to no online players in their timezones.

So what does Arbor Falls have?

~ EXCLUSIVE Custom Content-
Thats right, don't like downloading a bunch of haks? then you can stop right here...because you WILL be downloading a lot of content. Some of the Best of the Best on the vault like Maxam and his classic Dungeons and Six Six Six's excellent creature additions...but mostly it is a showcasing of my own work and then even some that has only ever been included in the Arbor Falls Haks..like the frost giant remakes, the extra tilesets like underdark caverns.

~Old style D&D play-
I may be dating myself but I am close to 40 now, and I still only ever loved 2nd edition D and D...forgotten realms...remember when you HAD to be a demi-human to be multiclassed? well as much as I wish I could say thats how it is, it isn'tPosted Image..but it does have the same 'feel' and the same classic environments that beg to be R'P'd in.

~Meaningful Quests-
Deeply satisfying quests for the solo'er, sick of the boring stuff that others make you do because they 'depend' on multiplayer immersion? well not here...I knew that NWN wasn't as popular as it once was and that I should be lucky if even one person visited my PW, so ALL of the quests are thought out and designed after many of my own P&P Campaigns..I have DM'd/Played since I was 13 and keep always in mind that anything could happen.

~Unrestricted Customization-
Right from the get go you can look anyway you want. Thats the best part right? making your character look just right? right down to the glowing eyes and pirates hat or maybe you have horns and wear a cown of thorns you wanted (courtesy of perm. vfx). Well dont worry about having to level and quest to 'look' just right. You get that free and you quest to define your character.

what this PW doesn't have:

~ Lots of forced RP.
Yeah, there are restrictions to resting...but its not bedrolls and food and water or other micro-management, go ahead, take a nap outside in Arbor Falls. You will know what I mean then. Gold and magical items and weapons? sure..its classic d&d! You know your going to find something cool when you beat down that foul denizen deep in the filth that are the Blackwater Marshes. I guess if you asked I would say its a medium-medium high magic.

~ Online Players..
   lol

~  Boring graphics...
I have completely overhauled this PW to 'hopefully' look like no NWN game you have yet played before. I extensively use placeables, tilesets, skyboxes, vfx, remodeled creatures! you name it, its been remodeled-retextured by myself or some other highly skilled artist. Please don't take my word for it, check the website. See the screenshots.

So thats about as much as I can write. I really am not good at any marketing or advertisement posts.Posted Image
But if I get one player to check it out and be happier for it, well then Arbor Falls did just what it was supposed to do.

Thank you.

A few of them are (skyboxes) , about 7 or 8 I believe including winter mountaintops, a nice bleeding dawn skybox, some cliffsides, lava fields, etc some other ones I haven't even 'used' live yet.

also that brings to mind, please , any of you, even if you don't want to 'play' in Arbor Falls feel free to take apart my haks for content you might want or need. there are NO restrictions on use of my own work.

I also post the actual PW as a downloadable MOD as well for those that may want to run it for their own gaming sessions...or even if they want to strip it down or take an area here or there...

this community has always been about sharing and contributing so I wish to continue that with my own work.

So if its not for you, I am sure there is 'something' in those haks you could use for your own visions of a PW or module.

Thank you, and woohooo! I see a brand new player today !!! and they stayed on for longer then 10 minutes so they must be enjoying themselves! so THANK YOU bioware social network for giving me a chance to bring this ole' PW out of the dark!

and @ Superfly!

Thanks but I never left! just had to take a 'break' ...

no pun intended (for clarity sake I had busted up my hands pretty good this past year so I couldnt do much 'work' so I wasnt seen much by the Custom Content world during that time.)

Welcome back, Lord of Worms, and congratulations on launching your new project! And thank you very much for your generosity regarding Arbor Falls CC. I'm actively looking for good skyboxes to integrate into Sanctum 3, so I'll defnitely check those out. :)

Hey, I didn't notice yet Arbor Falls now has its own website, too! Cool!

I haven't played on Arbor Falls for quite a long time now but I didn't play a lot on other PWs either - AF is still one of my all-time favorites and I'll definitely be back sooner or later. I recently cleaned out my hak folder and first thing I did was to put the Arbor Falls haks back in it. :)

This world is a pleasure just to walk around in! It seems to really hit a nice balance. It's not frustrating me at every turn or mistake, but it does present a real feeling of danger to my PC. The scenery and creatures are simple awesome! Lord of Worms makes incredible content, but its obvious he also knows how to put this stuff to use. Area layouts are so well done, they seem organically grown, with rutted pathways winding through tangled roots and stone, thundering waterfalls pounding down into rocky pools. You can almost feel the spray on your skin. The towns feel alive, not dead. People go about their business, and interact in convincing ways. It is so nice to wander a town, and see a temple that looks like a temple, or a blacksmithery that looks legitimate. I've played on many PWs over the years, having bought NWN the day it was available all that time ago. Some have been really fun! Arbor Falls though -- the world is engaging, complete, and FUN! Even if you've tried other PWs and shrugged, I encourage everyone to check this place out. If possible, get with a friend and check it out together. I would love to see the streets, taverns, grottoes, caves, and oceans of Arbor Falls teeming with players. There's a whole world waiting.

Thanks Lord of Worms for all you do!

wow, thanks for that kind comment JFK/Frith5 and Olivier!!! Yay! I though we had lost you! You should really get back sometime, I know your biggest dilemna was lack of players but we now have 7-8 dedicated players so someone seems to be on all the time now...plus I miss you man...lol

and I am hoping this page will gather a few more peeps to come make a name for themselves.

also, I should mention that this weekend the whole system is being moved from the default bioware database to SQL database so your dialogs up until THIS friday may be a bit slow as I transition everything over. just didnt want to discourage any new players from leaving because of this small issue which will be ironed out within another 48 hrs.

but now I must say, I would say your welcome to JFK but in all honesty if it wasnt for all of you, saying such nice things, encouraging me during my surgery, downloading and using and voting for my content...well Arbor Falls never would have been created as well as half the things I have modeled thus far.

I honestly can say that everyone I have met and worked with or just chatted with shortly...you aren't just friends of mine now...your all family to me.

so THANK YOU for all that YOU ALL do!

~Worm

"Ooooul My GOD!...are you kidding me". That is what I said to self when I got my first look at Arbor Falls, and I'm talking only of the entrance to world, where you catch the coach ride to town :)

To Worms, I have always admired your work and find it to be the gold standard of community content, I have just never seen it all put together. Bioware should have had you when they were putting this NwN's thingy together. I salute you for providing us with a visual playground, and the orc's, the ones that I saw just before my PC was killed *smiles* they were actually scary looking. Tolkien would have been proud.

I would think if this were in the PW action category it would be the number one hit. I'm not sure if it is to my liking or not as an RP world but as Kalbaern stated, even if you have your home PW you owe it to your eyeballs to check this server out. It is easy to see the hard work that goes into what you do and even easier to underestimate it too I imagine. Surely a labor intensive labor of love. What a playground, I cannot wait to see more, I haven't even left the Fall's yet and it is the most gorgeous NwN's town I have laid eye's on, folk's with NwN2 have not done better. The Temple alone dwarfs any, all on it's own.

I hope to find a small group to plunge through your Mod with. It would be so freaking awesome to adventure along with a group who are new and have a shared experience with this world.

Thanks for doing this and making the mod available to community. I may never see or appreciate a 10th of it online.

But damn...why'd my shinny new +3 maul have to shatter before I could sell it in town *face palms*

The pics of your world look awesome. And I'm a lover of your work on the vault. I have no doubt I'd think the place was beautiful. But I haven't checked for myself just because of the daunting task of downloading all those haks. *hides own uber mountain of haks under the bed so that no one sees*

Hehe, Thanks for the praise you all and def. thanks for the notice of hard work, I tell you it hasn't been easy, being the sole designer/creator for all the content for the past two years has only recently been lifted by the help of some very cool friends (who I met playing in Arbor Falls - borojb, shj3, shadyallie to name a few)

I admit I may be a little crazed when it comes to placeable and area design/layout but to see that everyone admires the work and hearing it is inspirational really makes it all worth it!

I also know that I should prob. be moving the mod to the PW section of NWNvault so more then just the CC hunters are able to see its availability.

and large amount of haks?? hehe...you havent seen anything yet!...hell I am only about 35% done with this PW...:) *wink*

Hey Builder_Anthony! You should seriously consider downloading the MOD itself and ripping it apart to see how I use alot of the tilesets (in design) , might help you with your own build since I know using my sets can be somewhat troublesome.

It's been a while since I logged back on ArborFalls. My first impression was overwhelming, I think it took me a good thirty minutes just to get out of the starting area, there was just so much to see and learn!

It goes without saying that the layouts are lush and full. The LOW tilesets have always been somewhat tricky to traverse with a character, almost like real life hiking? Yes?  But the way you have put your mod together is outstanding, actually beyond description. You have to log on and experience the depth of scenery and the immersion of the town(s) for yourself. You will not find another PW like it.

I have a project that I am currently working on or I would spend more time there myself.

I found so many things to do that I didnt go far and explore like I tend to do on most servers. I can only imagine the goodies awaiting the adventurous explorer outside the main town.

All that said, I found some things confusing and complex without enough documentation to eliminate my confusion. Not that there isnt enough documentation available, there are stats and info available for just about everything you want to know. I am not used to so much to interact with at one time. Most servers are so stripped down that you get used to just plowing through them. Not on ArborFalls. You have to take your time and explore each and every detail or you miss out on something cool.

Most of the NPC's are interactive and give you multiple options and choices. Wandering too far off the beaten path is challenging and deadly for beginners.

The only thing missing is a player base.  Once folks try this one out and stay, it will be a great place to play and RP/Venture!:)

PS Thanks for your contributions to the NWN community, you make it all worth hanging around for with your creativity and artistic inspiration!:D

I don't see how to post pictures here, but if I could, I'd post several of the Arbor Falls tavern brawl.

Truly a pleasure to beat other bar patrons with bar stools, meat cleavers, hot pokers, brooms, pans and ladels in non-stop violence for the 45min or so I stayed in there. I may have gone down more times than I care to admit, but I'm still smiling about it.

you can always send them to me zipped up via email [lord_of_worms@yahoo.com] and I will not only post them on the vault page for Arbor Falls but also my main web pages gallery and give creds for the pic shots.

I also love the tavern brawl (one of my favorite 'builds'), I built it after one too many halo deathmatch sessions and thought, NWN needs a deathmatch but not the same old boring arena everyone else has on their PW's (not that I dont have one of those as well...lol)...it was supposed to be part of a quest and merged into a town (prob. fellhurst) but sometimes I just want to jump in game right away and hack at the tavern patrons for some mind numbing brawls! so i figured it was better off as a 'I just wana smash things' option right away from the game..its even better when you have a friend in there to pound into oblivion with a chair!

Really, no, seriously...this server ROCKS!!!

I have been very fortunate to have played on a couple of servers that have been exceptional.
But THIS one!  Whew!!
It is, (as everyone else has repeated, over and over), visually stunning. But you wont believe it until you go and check it out. (I am now spoiled.)  It is so beautiful, it is AMAZING!!! Look around corners, run up paths, check out the hillsides...everywhere there are delightful visuals  (I love the lil creeks with the fountains running out of carved rock!), (oh, and the trees and paths), (and the lil bridges, and the waterfalls crashing down into the cataracts), ect.

Then you find out that the Lord of Worms actually thought about this thing, rather than just making it pretty.
There are so many quests, side quests, interactive npc's, places to explore, things to do, distractions to pursue and peruse.
There are others working on this project, an LoW is very forthcomeing with regards "input please".  There is wonderful content that has recently been added (and tried, (yes, he has folks actually check out new additions to the world.) (I KNOW!!  RIGHT?!?!))
And the people on this server.  All REALLY nice, and "please ask if you have a question" and "Hi, how are you doin?  Could you use a little help?"  Wow!!  I am blown away by how much fun we are having gaming in this gorgous lil universe.
So, Really.  no, Seriously.  Check this one out!!  And then remember, "I TOLD you so!!"  LOL :D ~Lauralai~

ahh yes, the dreaded Horse Cart...lol. I really should explain that more.

you can jump in the horse cart and it will (while your inside the safety of the carriage) drive a circle in and around Arbor Falls...the driver will shout out his stops to you as well as just random things like,
creatures that may be nearby
weather as it is
points of interest
and of course, any player PC's will be mentioned if they are nearby

so say your in it and you see him say

"we are entering the area known as Stumpett Grove"
if you exit (via the door) you will be spawned at the spot the coach was at when you left the carriage.
its really really only useful for RP reasons as it is BY far quicker to travel on foot..but I always wanted roleplay options available (whether or not I personally use them) plus the carriage is pretty safe since nothing can hurt you and 1st level players can have a rough time trying to get from outskirts(player starting point) to the town of Arbor Falls.

@Lauralai

You are by far too kind, its players like yourself and dear Kentleman and our long timers, SHJ, Shady Alley, Borojb (who is also a co-designer now) that have made this place a real home, yes its pretty but without input such as yours and ideas like SHJ's and the like..well it wouldnt even be close to a ...home. (:
but thank you for your very sincere words. We are all glad you decided to make your home here (I see you bought a home as well .*wink*)

and yes she is right, updates all the time. A new hak with more content coming soon and even more surprises from myself and borojb!!

I just wanted to take a quick minute here, if I may, to truly thank all the wonderful players that have showed up on Arbor Falls doorsteps since going live several years ago..
I read and re-read about all these griefers and angry players and chaos and then I look to my dedicated player list and wonder..
how did I get so lucky.
I have had nothing but great people show up and play, all the while saying 'thank you' to me?? when they should be thanking themselves!
so sincere thank you's goes out to the following long lived players of Arbor Falls

Shj3
Borojb
Lauralai2
Kentleman2
Shady Allie

I know there have been more of you active here, but these guys are religious and an absolute pleasure working with, not only great communication from them but also exceptional advice to make Arbor Falls better.

so thanks again for being great and for all getting along.
