I'm running Windows XP w/ DirectX 9c plus the upgrade mentioned earlier on the forum.  High graphic quality was unavailable and greyed out, so I had to play on medium.  The graphics were still pretty good, however.  My question was that just for the demo or will high graphics be unavailable on XP for the full game too?

On the plus side of XP, I didn't experience any bugs whatsoever.

same here, i used my macbook pro to play the demo with bootcamp...

and i was wondering the same thing, but i think you need to have directx 11.

I hope the mac version of the game runs just as good as the windows one though... (:

Bioware only enable medium graphics quality for the demo, i believe you should be all set for the retail game.

It appears that to play on Very High, you need DirectX 11, which is only supported on Win Vista and Win 7, and Dx 11 hardware. The High setting needs Dx 11 and hardware that's at least Dx 10 compatible.

So in short... no... you won't be able to use those settings in XP. However, depending on your hardware and graphics driver, you may be able to set up enhancements outside the game.

From what I can tell, this graphcis setting in DA2 is not the same as the texture quality setting in DA:O.  I think it's a generalized setting that incorporates various lighting effects, etc.  So again, you may be able to make some slight adjustments using the Nvidia Control Panel or the ATI Catalyst software.

Discrimination! This is an outrage! While I understand that WinXP is an old OS, it is still used as widely (if not MORE widely) than Win7. I assume that all those "use DX10 in WinXP" hacks are out of the question? Some games could be cheated into that (Crysis and Assassin's Creed benefitted from it in a significant way, for example), after all.

As I said, it looked pretty good all things considered.  I have a good graphics card, not the best, but it handles most game components.  I’ll trade that for stability any day.  As I said above, I didn’t experience any of the major bugs most people are mentioning.  I don’t know XP is the root cause for lack of bugs, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
