It's not as noticable with the 2H, mages, archers because they are so OP with their DPS compared to the dw rogue who has none - unless the dw rogue is glitched, which I'm hoping it is. Only good dps attack that will always work with the dw is backstab but it's fail now cuz it has a cooldown - which in the beginning of the game doesn't look like it's that bad if I can level it but that still leaves me with "what I am suspose to do now?" when it is on cooldown cuz basic attacks are HORRIBLE.

If they're just waving their weapons around, it means they're not in range of their target. Move closer, and you should find they'll be able to do their closing attack.
I tried that and it still isn't enough to land hits most of the time. For example with the archers, I was right on of them and I was STILL just waving the daggers about, moved up, moved down, moved left, moved right and yup, still no hits.
Can be a chore in the middle of mobs too cuz I'll be trying to find the secret hidden sweet spot I need to stand in order to hit anything and all of a sudden the dw rogue is doing a cartwheel or frontflip to go attack something ELSE and I'm just going: "NOOOOOO!!! Finish that one first! It's was almost dead ******!!!!"

When the mage starts to wave his weapon around it takes a while to complete.

I wish that instead of waving their weapons when you hit the A button they would start to run towards their target and when they got close enough they would initiate the close in attack animation.
Agreed. Also, It's easier to target enemies in DA:O imo

I agree on both points. It's actually kinda hard to wittle down ONE enemy at a time to logicaly kill them one right after another, instead I kept ending up with 10 half dead enemies because I can't keep them attacking just the one at a time, dw rogues will end up cartwheeling or flipping away when they actually do attack that is and not just wave their daggers about of course, and archers/mages will shoot at just whatever is in the general direction u got them pointed. It's MUCH easier to just spam the aoe attacks when u can since those are the easy idiot proof option.

Actually, I noticed some problems too. But it was with an activated attack... I can't remember which it was but they do this quick flipping or rolling maneuver, but come up ridiculously short of their target (which still explodes in half or something anyway.) So it didn't affect my gameplay, but I was like hmm... that looked decidedly odd. A problem for the animation team to look at perhaps? It was on my first rogue playthrough which is why I don't know exactly which ability caused the problem so my apologies for not being able to be more specific with it. If I could I'd report it in the technical forum, but it seems the OP has a different issue than I did.
Could it have been evade? That doesn't have an attack, they just flip away from the enemies. Well, in theory, I've ran into walls and rocks when trying to evade, lol.
Backstab is kinda flashy too, they poof behind the enemy to backstab and then sometimes poof back in front and sometimes they don't poof back in front. If u blink or don't know what u are pressing it might look akward.

I don't think backstab is SUPPOSED to have you poof back to the front. I think that just happens when there is an obstruction behind your target, like another target or the edge of the field. Anyway, I didn't notice any issues with my PS3 DW rogue run. Did you try turning on damage numbers (if that is possible in the demo)? 'Cause the DW fighting style doesn't use full swings, but instead relies mostly on half chops. Also, you could try evading backwards and then hitting A. For me, that usually ended up with my rogue leaping back in with an overhead stab and continuing her combo. Also, it seems like the other flippy kick thing is a mid-range attack meant to chase after moving targets. At least, I only noticed it being used when the darkspawn were running away.
Well u would think if they can poof behind they can poof back, but I guess that does make sense, it'd be nice to know for sure though.
I did think of turning on the damages so I could for SURE if I was hitting stuff for very crap poor DPS or not when she's waving her daggers around all willy nilly and seemingly doing ZERO damage to whats within spitting distance of her but sady, it seems to be disabled in the demo.
I'm not too worried about evade, I'm certian the times I ran into stuff it was user error, it's just not a magical one hit button to escape, u still gotta pay attention and that's fine. It's gonna fail sometimes with tatics for rogue party members if u want them to rely on evade but that's another issue, right now I just want MY HAWKE CHARACTER to work, can tinker with the rest later.

Are you all talking about a console version? Rogues attacks land just fine for me and characters attack who I tell them to. Rogues feel kinda weird though. The animations look like what I'd expect from a fat kid with toy daggers, just slicing everywhere without any skill or precision. And the thing where they jump forward and stab if you target an enemy from a distance is kinda awkward. That'll take getting used to as it makes it feel like the combat is on auto (i.e like I, the player, am not the one doing the fighting).
Oh, yup console, XBOX 360, I downloaded it this morning when it first became available. I don't really like them jumping around to attack stuff either to be honest, they got minds of their own and want to attack some fool "other there: instead of what's in front of them, doesn't really feel like I have control over her.

Not sure what the OP is referring to. When I'm out of range and attack my rogue does a leaping attack of some sort. I had the arm waving issue with the warrior but not the rogue. It made the rogue very cool to play, evade, move and leap in to attack.
I'm not denying that it looks cool cuz it does, it just doesn't work right most of the time, lol. I haven't seen my 2H'f have arm waving issues with her regular attacks but sometimes the activated ones are chore to use, I almost got killed once fiddling with mighty blow, thankfully I gave Bethany heal and right when I noticed oh nooooess, I'm almost dead! She was healing me up, aww, thanks sis.
