I had to duck out of that forum. Despite my rational and level-headed review of the demo (and attempts to remind people that it's essentially the E3 demo) the level of irrational screaming over there is too much to take.

Hello, DA:O forums, you're filled with smart people. ^^

yeah, its full of half thought out reactionary drivel. 600,000 replies, I doubt more than 300 are worth reading, but im not going to sift through all that crap.

Seeing all that stuff about DA2 ruining RPGs and being pretty much the end of gaming as we know it... Somehow it just makes me want to buy the game. In fact I just did.

Or maybe I was going to buy it anyway and the demo just reminded me? Who cares!

Now comes the hard part... to figure out what kind of extra DLC stuff I can get. Mostly I just want to know if there will be must-have items like the books for the old Collector's Edition. Seems like it's just gear so far though.

I want a dlc that:

doesn't give me free items for another play through

gives an improved enemy a.i.

makes the enemies tougher not weaker as i near the climactic final confritation.(see post Landsmeet Redcliff Village and Denerium.)

Make the game tougher overall.

Raises the prices throughout the game making purchases an important part of game strategy to be thought out before just buying the stack.

Included would be fan created mods that make sense and fix issues devs overlooked, as well as awesome new campains and old remakes. (see BG2)

Well said. They probably wanted you to feel like a big hero near the end, but it had the opposite effect and made the last battles completely uninteresting.

I think normal difficulty is fine as it is in DAO, apart from the ending. Remember that not everyone wants a super-challenging game.

But there should be a setting for people who really want to be challenged. Something that's harder than the current Nightmare setting.

That would solve your problem without ruining the game for the average player. Remember, not everyone knows all about character builds and strategies when they start the game.

I personally like the idea of having difficult optional quests that provide some of the best loot. That way you have to earn it.

I don't much enjoy the economy part of the game where you pick up every scrap of metal or ball of yarn on the battlefield so you can go back and sell it. Too much item micromanagement for me.

Interesting replies as I'll be renting this for the PS3 and if Bioware makes another toolset then somewhere wayyy down the line I'll buy the PC version.

Admittedly this is on-topic only if I push the English language a bit and apply the rule of universal instantiation aggressively, but: where did you go... to get that hair?  (i.e., which of the hair mods did you use?)

More on real-topic, I have to say the DA2 forum is a source of enormous entertainment.

I'm looking forward to min-maxing if possible. I know it makes me a bad person :)

Well from reading the talents they listed so far but having no info on specializations yet. It would appear that a good min/max setup would be 1 war sas/2h doesn't really matter as long as you pick up stagger talents for cross class combo's (ccc's). Rougue archer for disorients. 2 mages one primal/healer other elemental/spirit (mages the second focus could be flip flopped for either mage to have.

It is an epic circus going on between console players, pc players, trolls, super trolls, paid bashers, unpaid bashers, no-reason bashers, witcher supporters, skyrim supporters, historians, clairvoyants, woman support group, moderators running around handing off bans. Posted ImagePosted Image

Every possible logic is being used to win hearts and minds of new teenage console players, who seem all but confused and dazed.  Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Once I learned to not engage with certain types of posters and to ignore a few threads, the DA2 forums became incredibly amusing...likely more so than the actual game once it is released.

Preordered from Steam. Should be downloaded and ready before the shops open. Not that I'll have time before the weekend.
