Go to the folder you installed the Demo to, go to "redist", then "DirectX" and start DXSetup.exe. The files are all there, there just seems to be a problem with the installation.
I opened this thread because the other one is locked and it is not in fact necessary to redownload anything.

For some reason It keeps randomly crashing, I just bought a GTX580 OC version and I have a nice system So I don't know whats up, it has crashed 5/5 times now, haven't gotten passed the first area. I am trying to use the DX installer now, hopefully it works. Any other tips I can get? I tried using max settings DX11 first time of course, and the game looks so choppy and odd looking and runs horrible.

Yeah, no save is annoying, but alas few demos have a save function.

This is actually an exceedingly common issue with DirectX 9 games on Vista or Windows 7. The game will complain of a missing DirectX 9 file. You usually have to install/update DirectX 9 on Vista and Windows 7 to play most games.
You are right.
I support Windows, Games, and such here at Microsoft and it seems to be something that happens from time to time. I spoke with my old boss this morning and he mentioned seeing this with a few games. The installer would not see DirectX 9 on later systems and complain. It would then look like its install the missing components, but really its just waving its hands and doing nothing.
You can always run the full package installer from the website if running the DirectX installer in the game directory doesn't work. This should install anything that is "missing".

So I guess backwards compatable is backwards compatible, except when it isn't.
For the record: I had this problem on my i7 system running Windows 7 64-bit (so it natively supports Direct X 11). I built this new system specifically to play Dragon Age II. The irony has not escaped me.

edit: I've now tried two versions of the x9, Aug 2009 and June 2010. I get the same errors. I really don't know what else to do and not being a computer guru, I'm at a loss. All I can hope is that I don't have the same problem with the full game.
edit x2: thanks everyone for trying to help. I appreciate it. I'll just wallow in some self pity for a bit, then gush over everyone's screenshots.
