Dragon Age II Demo, quite a few issues

I recently played the Dragon Age 2 demo, and ran into quite a few issues. I didn't write them all down, so I may have forgotten a few, but these are the ones I remember.
Also, I was running in DX9 because DX11 was even worse.

During the first cut scene, it was extremely laggy (dual GTX 460 cards and an i7 930 on medium settings, DX9).
The camera angles were all wrong in the cut scene (pointed at everyone's crotch while they were talking).
The woman's face was using what would be best described as an extremely reflective blinn material.
In the game, one out of every two people had no body, and were simply floating heads.
Most enemies did not have a walk cycle, and would simply float around about 1-3 feet above the ground in an "A" pose.
One in two of the playable characters were unable to fight, If I took control of them, I couldn't get them to fight either.
In another cutscene, I simply saw a bunch of legs floating around about 5 feet off the ground and someone screaming "I won't let you have him".
The terrain had no texture on it (flat grey), but rocks and trees did (sort of).
I'm guessing there were no atmospheric effects either, since it seemed quite bland.
Hawke's beard had no texture on it, instead, each sprite was a flat grey, partially transparent material that made it look like he had a plastic chin.

I'm willing to bet I missed a few, but these are the ones I remember.

The thing is, what I did play of the demo, if I ignored all of the blaring issues, it was a good game. The combat was tons of fun, and...well, that's about it, since I couldn't get that far in the demo.

I've always been a big fan of Bioware's games, and I loved Dragon Age: Origins. However, I was pretty disappointed to see the state at which the demo was at. Originally, this game was on my must buy list on day one, and the demo would have made me want to get it even more (combat was fantastic), unfortunately, playing the demo in this state has made me more cautious. I will most likely wait a week, and make my decision then.

I do wish Bioware well, of course, and hope the final game is in a much better state.

Could I get your system specs please using these steps:

1. Choose ‘Configure’ from the Launcher

2. Under ‘File’, choose “Save a report of the system information”

3. Name your file, and make sure it saves as a .xml file

4. Send it to me in a message

I'm having the exact same problems. However the only invisible people were mage Hawke and then Hayder.

I'm downloading from Bioware directly to try reinstalling to see if that solves anything, but I've got the same problems. I'm using the Steam version atm, if that helps.

TheBlackBaron:

I'm using the Steam version as well, I should have mentioned that earlier.

I haven't seen a single other thread mentioning this, so I'm starting to get the feeling Steam may be related to it in someway. Good to know I'm not the only one whose got this problem, though.

Should also clarify: the only invisible person was Hawke (aside from his head and sword), but most animations weren't working. I only "played" about five minutes, since the combat was totally unresponsive.

I also had a couple issues (though they were minor compared to all of those).

In the opening cut scene, the audio was lagging. And the characters' portraits were black. More specifically, their faces were black. Same with the Level up screen. Their faces are just completely black except for their eyes. Bethany's shoulders were the normal color, so I don't understand why that happened. But, like I said it was only in the Portraits and Level up screen.

That's a missing anim.

I also downloaded the demo from Steam, did you happen to try to verify the integrity of the game cache? Might be missing a few textures and anim which would cause your plethora of issues.

Problems:

Dx11 render lags amazingly bad

black big triangles on the ground ( textrures not showing up).

Settings:

Dx 11 high. Tried both with and without ambient occlusion, with and without AA and AF

System tested on:

Phenom 1090t @ 4.0 ghz

GTX 580 in SLI ( sli profile doesnt work btw, only one card is being loaded)

8 gb ddr3 1600 ram

MSI NF980-G65 motherboard

Win 7 x64 ultimate edition

WoW bioware, did you beta test the demo at all before releasing it to general public? there are a lot of ppl across the net that have similar issues, and the game is comming out in just couple of weeks, hope you guys will be able to solve those issues before the release date.

I finally got the demo to work after an DirectX issue (d3dx9_43.dll is missing), but now I can't get past a certain point in the demo. I get to the Chantry and it freezes and that's it. Locks up my system. I wouldn't mind so much but I can't save the game, I have to start the whole thing over. Had enough for now and will try again later. I have tried different video settings and that didn't make any difference, crashes at the same point. I'm wondering if maybe I got a bad download and need to download again, any ideas? I tried the demo in both DX9 and DX11 settings.

While I could play it, all textures looked good, saw a bit of texture flash on some terrain but nothing like some of the issues I just read here. Does the 'save' game work for any of you or is this locked out in the demo?

I did, yes. It validated.

Also, I forgot one last issue. Blood that sprays onto characters (I'm guessing that is what it is) is black. However, blood on weapons is still red.

EDIT: Strange, I got an autoupdate from steam for the demo, and now it works perfectly, with the exception of some sound stuttering (which isn't uncommon for me).

Im getting the same issues

Triangular shaped black holes on the ground in game play, and very laggy close ups in the cutscenes, I had this problem in the demo, and thought they would of fixed it in the main game but the same problems I have in both demo and the genuine game

My system should run this perfectly on every thing very high:

i7 950 @ 3.07Ghz,
6GB DRR3,
2 x GTX480SLI,
Win7 64bit

My issue is the same as Barefoot's. Freezes at the Chantry. Any solutions? Thanks in advance.
