4.9/5 for 360/PS3. I love the combat system but to me I get into pressing A too much without looking at my health (Main Charater was a Warrior Tank in DA:O).

Pros:

Combat is more fun then the first

Combat is faster

Male Hawke's voice isn't bad (Thank god, I havn't played Female yet but not planning on playing one in game)

Cons:

Teammates seem a little dummer..."Hello I'm dieing over here! Where is that healing spell?...I didn't have this problem with Morrigan..."

Very Minor Con:

Since combat is faster I keep forgetting to look at my health, Hawke died once in Demo and might be a problem in the real game untill I get use to it.

For now it's a solid 4/5. And that's enough for me to buy it when the full version comes out.

8/10

Pros:

definitly faster combat

cutscenes definitly looked good, more dramatic

Hawke has a beard

Cons:

a loading tip said characters choose their own clothing so I can't micro manage their gear

talent trees seem to shoehorn more

they didn't change the wheel on 360, but they moved everything about, confusing why they would change it all for no reason.

I'll buy it before I make a final judgement, but it seems pretty dumbed down to me.

Graphics 1/5 - I'd say they are barely better than PC version of KOTOR 1 (I'll need to check later if i haven't insulted Kotor with that comment)

You can't possibly be serious.  I think you're looking at old games with very, VERY rose-colored glasses.

Here is KOTOR 1.
Here is DA2.

DA2 is leagues ahead of KOTOR 1 or 2.
It even makes DAO, which is much newer than either of those, look ridiculously out of date.

I dont really see that much difference between DAO and DA2 Demo.
of course it is better than KOTOR 1 or 2. but compared to DAO, not really.

EDIT: I also want to tear my eyes out everytime i read "The combat is better XD" or similar comments.

Combat in DA:O was not fun for people who wanted action (Me included), it was way too slow so I made a dual wielding warrior with speed boosts and kept uselessing tapping A (Every playthough) to make the game more fun which worked for many playthoughs.

So...The combat is better XD

Please compare someone like Aveline to the first KOTOR screenshot.  KOTOR graphics and character model would be better.

Certainly not a game meant for pc as far as I can tell. No tactics, no nothing - Just hack & slash your way through waves of enemies (which btw gets extremely boring during the short demo). Think I'm gonna have to pass.

In your opinion, not all (including me) agree.

So no you can't say that.

I am so hesitant to complain because than I will just appear to be another one of those 'golden days' RPG nerds who think Jesus had sex with Mary Magdelan and she gave birth to a video game and they named it Baldur's Gate.

2.5/5 To many Changes and its more of an Action based game than anything. Less customization weres my Arcane warrior ! Graphics were ok and liked the voice acting but dislike the new combat system and did no one else think the Darkspawn look silly?

7 out of 10, because of the combat. It was fast which was nice, but nothing made sense. Darkspawn exploding? Huge melee weapons with apparently no weight? No fatality moves? Too slow healing spell regeneration? Rogue felt like "SPAM YOUR ABILITIES" instead of planning when to use them, because they always work, like the backstab teleporting you behind your target.

Well I just siad that to annoy him a bit since I didn't like the statement but I do agree that no one can really state that, for either side.

BioWare lost the tactical gamers but won the Action Gamers...theres no winning

Dialogue wheel seemed like a good idea but now its too obvious which option to pick to please certain parties. In Dragon Age you had to actually read into it to understand what you're about to say as well as how others might react to it. Here you can just be a good guy and use option on the above on the right without reading into it.

How is this a bad thing?
Since it is a video game, you can't say exactly what you want.  Thus, the more important thing than a word for word transcription is the attitude of whatever you're saying.  Do you want to be nice?  Be a joker?  Be an ass?  DA2 gives you that.

DAO didn't, and I sometimes found myself baffled by the response of the other party because apparently I had conveyed things in a tone that was not what I expected from the text, and I'd have to re-do the conversation.  That doesn't make things more realistic, or immersive, it makes it more frustrating.  DA2's reliance on the tone of the comment rather than deciphering intent simply from wording means that the choices will at least be more sure to convey the correct intent, if not the exact words, and will not be a limitation for the actual script.

PC version. 2/5

Pro:

- cool graphics, characters are more "realistic" and have their own unique look.

Cons:

- combats are repetitive and forcedly gruesome (every hit, a guts explosion...);

- it's not an RPG, it's not the successor of the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate, it's an action RPG (characters interactions are dumb, the skill wheel is restrictive, no tactical camera, ...).

IMHO this demo is dated: every video or screenshot or preview seen till now is taken from the same development level of this demo. I really hope this is not the actual level.

games getting dumber every year. This demo just proves it. Action game with few rpg elements, mass effect or final fantasy style. Its hard a game really, more like interactive movie, it has nothing to do with great old school rpgs, like baldur gate, wizardry or drakensang.

Good I didnt preorder.

Now you can yell at me all you fanboys, its your money so if you like it buy it and have fun. I won't.

Ok character models are better but the background is almost as bad as in KOTOR.

Actually made me want to cancel my pre-order.

Might have to try the demo on PC and see if it's any better

The rating you see is the amount of fun and enjoyment I'm getting out of DA2's demo.  Despite it being an old build, I enjoy DA2's demo more than some full games.   I'm not exaggerating.  I've replayed it about 5 times now, and if you've played the demo, it's LONG.

Based on the demo, I would rate Dragon Age 2 (PC version) -  9.8/10

This one deserves an alien face for SUPER COOL demo. :alien:

Might be more enjoyable on console actually. I will have to try it on the 360.
