games getting dumber every year. This demo just proves it. Action game with few rpg elements, mass effect or final fantasy style. Its hard a game really, more like interactive movie, it has nothing to do with great old school rpgs, like baldur gate, wizardry or drakensang.
Good I didnt preorder.
Now you can yell at me all you fanboys, its your money so if you like it buy it and have fun. I won't.

It is true that gamers are getting easier (If thats what you are stating with dumber if not that thats just a stupid statement since it makes no sense) but thats what the new gamer wants (I think) so we are going to have to just deal with it since there is no way you can stop the change.

Cons:
-  forcedly gruesome (every hit, a guts explosion...);

That only happens during the start (If your talking the exploding bodys when you kill them) if not and your talking about normal hits...I never noticed

4.8/5 and considering this was, supposedly, running on an older build of the game I can see myself giving it a perfect score when I play the fully game

2/5 games are not wat they used to bee...

It seemed that many of the RPG elements are gone... and that is what interests me the most. also the "gabs" in conversations is really annoying.

I am already tied of the combat after 2 playthrushs...

I can only hope that the full game is better:)

Please compare someone like Aveline to the first KOTOR screenshot. KOTOR graphics and character model would be better.

No, and it isn't even a little bit close.

I like the point of views some have when giving reasons for not lliking it. I thinks it valid but very different from mine. sorry if I sound sarcastic, not intending to.

Graphics - 4/5? I think people are expecting high-end standards, but the original DA:O was laggy on PS3. Graphics for DA2 (at least in the demo) was not as detailed, but the smooth frame rate is there.

Gameplay - 5/5, definitely. Its more action-based strategy now, with classes balanced out, with warriors and rogues dealing more damage than before. Skills trees no longer require you to add useless skills to get useful ones. I take it that the lack of Health Potions is a hint that you have to learn to conserve mana for healing and taunting ogre to attack warriors is crucial.

Story - ?/5, Hard to say really. Its only a demo. Plus its really a IMO thing. Voice-acting wise, I can't really tell from good or bad, but I don't fall asleep when characters talk, so I think its ok.

Overall: 4.5/5. Will get this game, definitely.

Note: I read many comments by people, posting about how this game is all-about button-mashing, and how they prefer DA:O. From how I see it:

DA:O Tactics: Spam spells, stun dangerous foes, whack weaker foes while waiting for skill/spell cooldown, heal tank and repeat.

DA2 Tactics: Essentially the same, just that you tap attack repeatedly to DPS.

EDIT: I just tried to play DA2 just by button-mashing and not using strategy, and I got wiped..

I'd say I agree with your conclusion, but hey...as it was in DA:O there were people who thought the start of it was boring...And true enough, The demo is just that, A demo...you can't really judge a book by reading 2 pages now can you?...I have no doubt it'll be a great game in my mind and opinion...Bioware hasn't failed yet...my bro hates most games that he's played and yet he loves DA2...so do I....anyway, I'll look forward to continueing my opinion of it being a 5/5 game when it's released...and Note: bioware's changed the game to make it a bit more complicated and less simple I personally think it'd be average if everything was the same as the original...hell, they changed a lot of features in mass effect 2 over the original and look at the difference in reviews? 6/10.

The main problem is that the dialogue and RPGing feels weakened compared to DA:O. Having non-combat skills taken out really hurts, as it added depth to both the dialogue and the out of game experience. It also feels jarring how small the dialogue responses are in the wheel, but that was something that was a deliberate choice.

Some combat glitches, such as the camera wheeling uncontrollably sometimes after using backstab.

Jarring loading screens into cutscenes and movies.

Tactics interface is a bit ugly, ability interface is a bit unclear.

4.5/5 on PC.

I like the new combat system. I wouldn't say it inherently superior to DA:Os but it's a nice change while still feeling familar. I liked the Dialogue wheel in ME, so I've no issues with that.

It's basically delivering what I was expecting, to be honest.

Ok character models are better but the background is almost as bad as in KOTOR.

:-/
Still not buyin it.
We haven't hardly seen any of the areas, first of all, but even so.

KoTOR in a ship.
KoTOR outdoors.

Compare that to this.
And, even desolate as it is, if you're talking simply about graphical quality even the first area looks better.

I mean, of course it should look better than KoTOR.  I'm not saying you have to like the game or something, but people are being WAY unrealistic about how DA2 compares to whatever old game they think it isn't better than.

I give it a solid 8 out of 10. I love the new voiced main characters and the voice acting in general. Unfortunately the conversation wheel makes me say things I don't want to however the combat is much, much tougher than in Dragon Age: Origins; can't wait to play on Hard difficulty and above.

I dont really see that much difference between DAO and DA2 Demo.

...

I'm not really sure how much more obvious the difference could be, but okay.  If you say so, boss.

I mean, the lighting across the face alone is vastly superior, and the polygon count is much higher so her cheeks are actually rounded instead of jagged and angular.  Her skin is realistically textured with more realistic coloration, rather than being relatively smooth with splotchyness and drawn-on age.  The creases by her nose, mouth, and chin, and her wrinkles and crows-feet are much more convincingly normal-mapped and lit, and the detail on the feathers and collar is superior to anything anyone in DAO ever wore.

I think the demo was to show of the new combat system and dialogue wheel. The RPG is still there and, at least to me, will be better then origins do to the more personal stoty BioWare is going for.

Also I would like to make the point that slow combat does not make an RPG. That is not necessarily directed at you but it seems that it is everyone's goal on this forum to whine about faster combat makeing this a hack n' slash rather than an RPG.

PC version

Cons:
- Graphics
- Movement animations
- Cutscene loading (even though it's short) during, or after combat
- Ridiculously lame display of blood (but can be turned off)

Pros:
+ VOs
+ Fast paced combat

So starting at 5/10:
-2 Graphics
-0.5 Animations
-1 Cutscene loading
+1 VOs
+3 Combat

5.5/10

This is just the demo though, full game is gonna get points for all the stuff that is missing in the demo, my estimation for DA2 is 7.5/10.

Wait, in the other thread you declared this game Runied Forever! How does that get a 6/10 (above average) score?

9.5/10 in my oppinion.

The only thing I didn't like was the camera and the fact you can't zoom out very much.
Other than that... can I have the full game now? :)

Dragon age origins score 5 out of 5
Dragon age 2, based on the demo, score 2 out of 5

Except for the cut scene animation I feel the whole thing is a step backward, and the combat in Dragon age 2 is plain awful.

If this thread had a meta score for everyones scores I'd say the game would be at 65%-70% so basically the general feeling is it's just average so far, nothing special.

I'll give my score tonight when I play it.

I'd probably give it a 4.5/5.

Obviously you can't judge it cause many major features were disabled, but based on combat/graphics/story so far, that's what I'd give it.

Pros:

- Combat is improved over DA:O

- Graphics are good, not great, but good (allows my PC to run it at max with no lag, so a huge +)

- All the characters minus.. um, the brother, starts with a C, were entertaining and interesting

- I love how flashy the mages/rogues are, the warriors.. well, the shield/sword warrior's flashy attacks and shield bashing looks cool, reminds me of someone like achilles in Troy

- Blood - I like blood in games where you murder things, just suits..well..murdering things.

Cons:

- Conversation wheel - I like it in ME, but it just deson't feel right here.. just feels out of place to me. It can get the job done for sure, just..yeah, I liked the way Origins had it better

- Warriors with 2H weapons just seem silly, as I stated above I liked the flashy animations, but 2H warrior isn't supposed to be so fast... just feels odd

The glitches (cutscenes skipping/loading constantly, for example) will all be ironed out in retail, so I'm not going to add any of that to the score.

Overall, I was waiting to play the demo before I pre-ordered it, and I did just that after playing it. You need to keep in mind, this demo was there just to show off the combat/gameplay, it didn't involve all the exploring, the story, all the quests/gear/gathering/gift finding/option bosses/blah blah blah blah. There's A LOT to the full game that we didn't even get a second to experience in the demo, but if it's ANYTHING like DA:O (the quests and exploring and stuff) then this game is very solid, and probably the best RPG I've played since the first one.

I definitely liked it and wanna see more. Combat is fun, although it feels really easy even on Normal. Withholding opinion on the new conversation wheel and the linearity of the game.

Seems way too fast -> makes it look silly and rushed job. Feels like the gravity just got lighter also.

Bioware needs to add a slider to the options for slowing it down like from 100% to 90% or even 80%.
