For crying out loud, yeah the demo wasn't perfect, but why the diatribe? In all honestly a game company is not realistically expecting a 10/10 game every time they make a product. I'll play a 6/10 if I dig the story/subject matter, but 7 or 8/10 is the majority of the gaming base. Do you only play games that you demand are better than 90% of the other games out there?
Your expectations are unrealistic. A 78-85% on metacritic is a solid product, and to be honest I expect DA2 to be around 88-92%. If you demand perfection from any entertainment, you'll never watch a movie, never play a game, never watch a Superbowl, etc. It's a video game, people.
Oh, and I didn't LOVE the demo either, but it was certainly enough for me to know that my decision to preorder was a good one, and that I will enjoy the game. It's 60 bucks... you aren't financing a house here.
EA thanks you. They want people to shell out money for shoddy products - especially $60.
The American Education system thanks you. Reading comprehension is only marginally important these days, right?
As stated... I expect the game to hit around 90% on metacritic. 90% isn't shoddy. If you think it is, do us all a favor and stop playing games altogether.
You actually care about any ratings in the video game world? They are all bought or bullied. No reviewing site will DARE to give a huge 'AAA' company a bad review. Look at Call of Duty Modern Warfare, the review sites fawned over it and the PC gaming public DESTROYED IT. It has an 86 from critics and 3.6 out of 10 from actual gamers. That said, Dragon Age 2 will not be a bad game. That isn't what people are upset about. What they are upset about is that it is NOT Dragon Age 2. It is something else.
Sure it exists in the same universe, but the game isn't the same. What hooked people into DA has been removed. While some people who liked DA:O will like DA:2 more many will not. The game has undergone a fundamental change. It is like comparing Batman with Jack Nicholson and Micheal Keaton to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, only in this case Begins and Dark Knight were first and replaced by the more campy version. There are going to be fans of both, some people will like one more than the other but the BRAND was established on the more gritty realistic version with more depth to the gameplay. Now we have the campy version and its not where Bioware should be heading.

Will have to wait for the full game to see what it's really like but at the moment the dialog choices feels very limited and I'm not a huge fan of the combat or the look of the new darkspawn. On the other hand I do like voice acting so who knows. The story concept seems more interesting then being a grey warden but have to wait and see.

I could go on and on.
OK I can't resist giving things numbers (although I still firmly believe what I said above.)
Story- 4/10 Hope it gets much better (this is where the above plays a major role)
Combat- 8/10 This is something we get a very good glimpse of (and is probably BioWares way to promote the new action style combat.) More fluid, and for the most part much more responsive than the Origins counterpart. The only thing that annoys me greatly is the cooldown on heal, and lack of cooldown thereof on backstab (1-hit kill please?)
Dialogue- 7/10 With the very limited options we have it isn't a very accurate portrayal.

Will I play it, yes. But will it grab me and make me want to replay it over and over? If using the demo for a guideline, no. It has potential, but does not have that special something to make it great like the original. Here's to hoping the full game delivers that special something. As of right now, there is nothing from the demo that gets me excited about the upcoming game.

I loved the combat, but the cut scenes and the dialogue wheel were very underwhelming. I felt very little emotional attachment to all of the characters, and the fact that now I'm just picking a general tone rather than the actual response that I want makes conversations less engaging than they were in Origins.

Regarding that point off, was I the only PC user who encountered frequent little loads around dialogue choices and cinematic sequences?

Just mind blowing fun from start to finnish! I could have played a friends BulletStorm if I wanted all night but I am here instead.
If Bioware takes this game and continues to polish it and tweak it more and more, as well as add future high quality updates, then I am sold. I would be shocked if even FPS shooter gamers didn't pick up this amazing game.

One of my main gripes would the animations are sometimes a bit jarring, especially between combat and cutscenes, and I still can't come to terms with the re-designed Darkspawn: the Hurlocks look ridiculous and the Ogre's look like they have Down Syndrome. Apart from that, I loved everything about it.

the gameplay is really not as bad as i feared. what concerns me the most besides the graphics and design is the dialogue system. i loved mass effect but its not what i want for a dialogue driven, deep rpg. sure, everything is possible, but i dont like the clear black/white dialogie options, it just seems superficial to me, in the demo.
but as i said, i think the final game can still be extremely kickass. for me everything depends on writing. dialogue, choices, consequentes, i dont care much for the rest.
oh yea, and huge MMO style encounters with tanking, healing, cc and some special events. MMO style.
and i really hope there will be a mod for a topdown perspective.

I rather like the changes to the character mechanics too.
Characters seemes ok, dialogue so-so, though I didn't feel that answers I picked really mattered, beyond maybe slightly changing the tone of the conversation.
But road "corridors"? Linearity takent to the extreme.
Waves of enemies all the time. Repetetive, same enemies.... Oh the horror....
I really hope that's not how the final game plays. Otherwise I may have to skip it.
