meh out of 5.
Is it just me, or do the boss battles remind you of old FF games? You know, where the boss had a gazillion HP and it took forever to take them down?
You know what this game plays like? Heavenly Sword. For any of you that may have played that game.
Remember when people complained on how easy boss fights were in DA:O :innocent:

Animations are laughable. My female Hawke walks swinging her arms around and bobbing her head like a zombie.
Being lectured by my "mother" 5 minutes in the game because the game forcibly left my "brother" die is a pathetic scenario twist.
Also, I can't make two steps without being interrupted by a cutscene, which is rather annoying.
Finally, we're back to tunnel crawling in a rather barren, shallow and boring environment.
Lothering, which was praised as a village of peasants in a lush countryside (according to the map and DA lore), suddenly has nothing to envy to the aridity of the Moon.
As expected, this is a huge let down.
I would rate it 2/5 at best. Any higher rate is just a scam.

i didn't get my hopes too high, but it wasn't disappointing in any fashion except maybe a lag here and there but that is my hardware and not BioWare.

The in medias res plot of the demo didn't really grab me; and the best thing about Dragon Age is the setting/story. I'll reserve judgement until I play the final product; but at least the combat is an improvement.

Yeah, nevermind. It only took forever because I first played as a Rogue. Went with a mage second time through, and I annihilated the bosses.
Rogues still suck.

Why is all the writing horrible? Did Bioware contribute anything to this game besides a label?
The writing wasn't Oscar-worthy but horrible? They were commenting on how to flee the country... How 'good' can it be?

I came in with low expectations and had them met with the same low expectations (granted I did the console version first, I'll give the PC demo a try later.). Combat is just a giant action mash fest "Mash X until ability comes off of cool down, use ability, mash X". Everything is so clustered together and screwey that I can't tell half of what's going on anymore. Most of the great spells from the Mage trees in Dragon Age: Origins are gone. Wanting to take a more controlling path with freezes, ground paralyzations and stuff seemed to be few and far between, everything being geared more towards blasting your enemies to smitherines, which is fine for some people, but I like options.
Also, locking out character customization and inventories? Really Bioware? Look, I already know you've pretty much jewed us on races for this time around, but at least give usa chance to mess around with appearances for gods sake.
And another thing, the dialogue wheel is completely unecessary, telling me the exact effect that my comment is going to have is not what I expect when coming from the great dialogue options from Dragon Age: Origins where it had a deeper line of dialogue options the farther down you went.
Look, the action elements and dialogue worked well for Mass Effect, but don't shove it in my CRPG's, it just doesn't work, the game didn't really have a lot of charm at all. A few of the characters made me smirk a bit, but I felt that the characters were a little empty for me. Fully voiced dialogue is cool, but again, back to the dialogue wheel, ruins the experience in the long run just to have an excuse to shove as much of Mass Effect 2 into Dragon Age as you can hoping to ride on your previous success.
Me? I'm not gonna buy it, it's been my stance since I've heard of the sequel and, although I was hopeful the demo would have changed my mind, it hasn't. I'll just wait for the next expansion for Dragon Age: Origins. And Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Like I said before, this is the kiddie pool version of Dragon Age, and well, I'll stick with the adults, thanks.
P.S. Yes I will try the PC demo, regardless it will probably not change my mind.

The writing really didn't seem to be on par with Mass Effect. With that said, it's still pretty decent and is still light years ahead of other RPG's such as Gothic or the Witcher.

Speaking of combat it takes some getting used to but I like it, especially playing as a rogue. I'll definitely be playing the full game as a dual wielding rogue.

Yeah I find that part quite lame to be honest! How his mindless charge followed by death was considered... ugh.. sacrifice to save them? Especially after hero and his allies spent 2 minutes fighting the damn thing and were alive and well! Hm.. sort of reminds me that thing with toronto cop who got totalled by snow plower. People are so quick to find meaning in totally dumb and meaningless "sacrifice". Oh well but I digress. We're talking about games after all

That alone makes it stand out as a game with a better dialog than DA2.
DA's dialogs were probably better than The Witcher's, but I still enjoyed both games very much.
Anyway, [/offtopic].

Combat is definitively improved, since origins was rather brainless. It was supposed to be tactical, but the game was broke and some overpowered spells just lowered the challenge or destroyed the act of planning. It it's not really tactical,it better be fun and DA2 will easily be more fun to play as you level up and gain plenty of abilities.
I think the game will perform and score well, but mostly with the console audience as the PC sales will definitively take a hit compared to origins.

Graphics (its on medium) 4.6/5: The art style may not be everyones cup of tea but for me it looks fantastic especially for being on medium settings and d11x turned off (Which as most of you know will provide that extra UMPH in graphics). Textures are a little bland in some places but overall everything looks great and is easy on the eyes.
Gameplay 4.7/5: The combat is fast and fluid and provides (at least for me) a sense of impact. Also moving between characters is simple and enjoyable.
Sound (5/5): As per biowares standard they deliver and excellent score of music and the overall voice acting is also top notch.
Presentation 5/5: Menus are easy to navigate and pleasing to use. Nowhere did I find myself wondering what I had to click or which menu I had to open in order to get to what I wanted.
OVERALL: 4.8/5 (96%)
Bioware, at least by what the demo unvails, has yet again produced a great product and I cannot wait to play the full version come march 8th.
