I am a huge BioWare fan, Mass Effect 1 is my favorite game of all time. But this demo did not impress me completely, combat was excellent (took a little while to get used to), story was excellent, voice acting was excellent.

But the graphics and art style sucked (this is only my opinion). It was too cartoony and bland, some characters looked straight out of a game from the mid 90s. Also, hated the frequent loading screens.  It almost felt like a console port. (Played on the PC)

I give it a 3.8/5.

I am sure the real game will be better.  Hopefully I get used to the graphics and art style.

The only thing I didn't like was the new animation for "Winter's Grasp".

3.5/5

Combat is a bit too fast and already tiresome. The odd flip is awesome but constant flips and twirls etc, at super-fast speeds just completely takes the awesomeness away.
I'd like to play as a 2 bladed rogue but there's just no way I could stomach 15 hours of that, let alone 30-60 hours. The thought of it alone makes me feel slightly nauseous.
It also verges on the comedic when you're doing 3 or 4 cartwheels in a row when you're stood right next to the guy you're fighting (or at least supposed to be)
I'm fine with combat being sped up over DA:O, I think it a good idea infact, but tone it down a tad, will ya? (or give us the option to do so at least)

Then there's the camera issues and the least said about the 5 star inventory system the better...

Hate to sound like a moaner since I enjoy pretty much everything else about it.

Well, the graphics are locked atm, so the graphics should considerably improve depending on your rig.

Anyways, I gave it a 4/5. My gripes were that combat seemed to fast paced and that some of the animations look awkward (Miasmic Flask and Shield Defense in particular).

5, if a 5 is "an rpg that is awesome" and not "the best game ever made." I'm using the Roger Ebert scale of criticism.

It is the whole art style for me.  Obviously a lot of people like it and BioWare can't please everyone, but I prefered DA:O artstyle.

Yeah it's a 4.5/5 for me.

I feel like most of the changes were good decisions.

I also like the abilities in DA2 much more then the abilities in DA:O.

Also man playing a rogue is awesome in DA2, I hated them in origins and in this demo I felt pretty badass as a rogue.

Edit: Critism is that the "snarky" comments could be a little more humorous.

Also I like the art decision. I always feel like going for to much "realism" in a video game is a mistake, take the new mortal kombat versus marvel versus capcom. The Mortal Kombat guys look choppy and uncanny, the marvel versus capcom 3 characters look amazing and don't look 'strange'.

Just my opinion.

I give the xbox 360 version a 5/5.The P.C. version gets a 2/5 because its obviously a console port.I guess console players get to have their turn at being the best for a change lml.

I think "sucked" might be a bit harsh, but I agree that the graphics are too cartoony for my tastes.  I'm also not terribly enamored by the fast and choppy combat animations.  I MUCH prefer the smoother, though slower, animations in DA:O.  Sometimes in the demo I felt like I was playing a Mortal Kombat RPG.  I also don't like how often enemies explode on the killing blow.  :?  I did, however, like it when I cut one dude in half.

I dunno, I'm sure I'll ultimately get used to it, and even if it's not as good as the original, I'm certain I'll still enjoy playing the game.  It just feels like there was an awful lot of fixing what wasn't broken.

Honestly, from the demo I was a little disappointed. Hawke's delivery of his lines is a bit weak, I always imagine it better in my head. Plus there doesn't seem to be as many options in terms of abilities but that could just be how it looks on the skill tree.

4/5 while not superb, it does seem to be a good game. I'm just a bit concerned with how many RPG elements were removed.

The demo was garbage.

0/5

Calling this an RPG is a joke. DragonEAge, it seems.

The P.C. version gets a 2/5 because its obviously a console port

2/5 is being way too kind. It's more apparent than ever BioWare concentrated on the console versions and left it to the Junior Varsity team to port it over to the PC. The graphics are ****** poor and only a drunk street hood in FUBU clothing jacked up on ecstacy will like the combat. What a half-assed pathetic excuse. The PC deserves better.

Oh, and console gamers are still physically and mentally inferior to PC gamers.

Virtually textureless bland wasteland background looks like Doom circa 1994

Immovable camera which is a genius (snicker) mage nerf

Too much clipping

Some other visual glitches

The cutscenes are a total mess, they go way too fast in some instances and there are major performance problems with them

Melee rogue is on LSD and an iso camera would help in this instance...instead of getting dizzy

There's no way that could be a fully considered logical arguement on his part.

I'm calling troll on that one.

But I will play along.

I liked that the combat didn't feel like a chess game, and yet the tactics are still there, but I hated how long it took to kill something unless you were a mage. I like the new rogue though, more to it than simple back stabs. The mage, once again, is overpowered, or the other classes are underpowered, whatever floats your boat.

Everything being locked was a bit of a pain, but it gave me a taste of DA2 and I liked it.
