I heartily agree with the above post that called it "...a stupid Action game with RPG elements"
I felt like this was a console game ported to PC. I don't play consoles, in fact I pretty much hate them, mostly because I really suck at that (generic) kind of game. DA2 appears to be WAY more action than RPG, and that doesn't work for me.
I had several other issues which start with the demo crashing repeatedly and having to start over. In no particular order:
1. No autosave (no save at all for that matter).
2. No inventory / management.
3. The Combat Tutorial (I know how to play the game, assuming they didn't just change everything).
4. Never-Ending Bad Guys (this was the biggest "console" vibe I got from the demo).
5. Pathing (still).
6. The "streamlined" interface (again, "consoley"(?) and too "modern" for a dark fantasy game).
6a.The skill trees don't have to actually look like branches, do they? I liked the grid from DA:O
7. Flemeth got a very weird makeover. What is the deal with horns? Ogres, now Qunari and Flemeth?
8. The Flemeth cutscene animation was dreadfully crude, way below the quality Bioware is capable of.
9. The conversation "cutscene" style was (for me) annoying. I want to play, not listen for five minutes.
10.The conversation "icons" dumb down the decision/consequence aspect that made DA:O replayable.
And lastly,
A first level mage blowing Darkspawn in half with what has to be Arcane Bolt??
I am obviously less than impressed. I LOVE DA:O, I've played through it and Awakenings, RtO, Leilana's Song, and Darkspawn Chronicles with eight different characters.
Sorry, 1.5 of 5 (a bit generous but it did look amazing most of the time).
Oh, and I cancelled my preorder.
