tried playing a healer....impossible with the cooldown of the healing spell. Does anyone else feel the cooldown is a bit too long?

Yes! I couldn't believe how long the cooldown was, I regretted wasting a point...

I'm thinking bioware is forcing you to spec spirit healer to actually be effective

Well that's great, but what do you do in the meantime when you're waiting to get those specialty points? You will run out of Health Potions eventually.

It's not a major issue when you've only the option of playing the game in normal as the Demo allows, yet with the main game release and the ability to play at an increased difficulty setting it seems somewhat extreme.

Yeah, I tried going with being a healer and it just was impossible. The cooldown was way too long. :( So that part kind of stinks. But the spells are looking wicked! ^.^

Just so you know, this font color on the dark gray background is impossible to read.

agreed. compared to DAO anyway. i could probably throw in 2 heals at most during an extended fight.

maybe they want us to use the potions more :?

The potion cool-down is also pretty long, I had to revert to kiting dark-spawn for my rogue during the ogre fight. I am guessing the potion cool-down is intentional so to stop the potion spam that you are able to do in DA:O.

But with a really long healing CD and the potion CD, some mob fights will be difficult, especially on hard or nightmare.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the potion cooldown too. :( That really is going to make the upper game levels harder. Well this is unfortunate but it will certainly give things a bit of a challenge now.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that the long CD is unreasonable before experiencing the more difficult fights, but having to kite enemies on normal because of potion cool down is a little extreme.

I would suggest to either decrease the cool down of both potion and heal, scrap cool down for potions all together, or have individual cool downs for each kind of potion.

I found the healing cooldown far to long as well, the fight was nearly over (one way or the other) before my healer could use it for a second time.

I gave up on making Bethany a healer after a while. The cool-down was just too long.
I hope something is done, or there is a better healing spell with faster cooldown later on.

I couldn't complete the last orge battle with a healer, i could get off 1 heal and my tank would die after his first potion

Agreed, the cooldown was a little insane, especially on Normal. I didn't exactly time it, but in the amount of time it took Heal to CD, I'd gone through Winter's Grasp three times. It just seems excessive, on Normal difficulty, to have that long of a CD for what's really a basic spell.

I did at first because I tried to heal multiple people.  It works fine if you're keeping the tank alive (after Carver went down in the fight against the ogre, my healer-mage had no trouble keeping just Aveline up).  Not so fine if you're trying to keep your entire party alive while they all freely pull aggro all over the place.

I also found that in order for heal to be effective, you need to take down the adds before you concentrate on the boss (the ogre, in the demo).  The adds do a LOT of damage to your tank while he/she is preoccupied keeping the ogre pinned down.  But you can run the ogre around while you dispatch the adds without taking nearly so much damage.

If you actually want to play a tactical game, heal is fine.

it seems in DA2 you are really gonna have to have your warrior hold most to all mobs and focus fire and pick off one at a time and work every character instead of just setting tactics and running in like a madman that you could do in DAO

Why is this in the tech support forum, though?

Not to sound rude, but why do you care if it is?

It will be a big problem if it doesn't change. On normal it's ok, but on Nightmare or even Hard it will be a whole different story.

If they scaled CD so on higher levels they are shorter would work for me, and keep a faster pace going in fights without my healer having to run in circles waiting for the CD to end.

There is now a greater emphasis on proactive defense. Healing is reactive defense; the damage has already been done and you are reacting to it. The Rogue's Evade ability would be proactive defense- you move out of the way and redistribute aggro, ideally before too much damage has been done.

That said, I do hope the Spirit Healer is a deep and engaging specialization with plenty of defensive options, both reactive and proactive.

I had to run around like a chicken with my head cut off in the Ogre fight with my mage. IT was something i would have expected from a MMO but not my beloved DA. I mean i finally got the ogre down, but it was a pain to run away so much so i could use a heal potion/spell to be albe to fling a fireball at the thing.

Heal/potion cd needs to be toned down IMHO.

Or you should use the other abilities available to you.  Yes, the cooldown is incredibly long compared to what it was in DA:O.  But there's a different philosophy behind combat now.  Stun the enemy and run.  Draw aggro to someone else.  You have options, even in the demo.
