Bugs I've notice on the PS3

If someone has already made this I'm sorry, but I didn't see it. These are the bugs I found on the PS3. I played male mage.

First, although not a bug, the text of the male and female mage and rogues do not match exactly. Nothing serious, just something I noticed.

Second, upon clearing the exagerated section and going to the character custimization the game take forever to load to the point where I actually thought it froze on me.

Third, the templar you meet has no voice when talking outside of dialog moments but his lips do move.

Forth, blood would flicker unto and off my clothing.

That's all I noticed on my first run that I'd call a bug. If I notice any more on my later runs I'll probably edit this post.

Oh, and it's a fun demo, can't wait for the game!

Edit: The forth bug didn't seem to happen with warrior or rogue. Or at least I didn't notice it, so it's less obvious.

This thread is for the PS3 take your crapbox problems to another thread please.

I am still dling the demo. I have crappy internet where i live, that and the volume of people hitting the PS store makes things real slow.

Yes I experienced many of the same issues: (snipped from your list)

Additionally, just as Flemeth is about to leave and the scene switches to the next part of the demo, it froze my system. I had to do a hard reset.

I have the 80GB version with all updates installed.

As said above, this is for PS3. But Hayzor's Edge should be unlocked in your promotinal items section on your account after beating the demo, it did it for me.

I have noticed a few issues as well. I have played the demo on both systems so I know that what I am about to put down are specific ps3 issues.

-Major slow down between transition of main menu's, customization and in game menu. Sometimes just a small pause and other times it hangs for a moment.
-The interrogation room is very clipped.
-Sound issue. I am not sure how to put it, but the sound between dialogue sounds very clipped. Even the transition between music is the same. Its like stop song/voice. Half a second delay and zero sound (voice and music pause) followed by new song/voice. I did not notice this on the other version.
-Blood coloring issue. This could simply be the difference between the two systems rendering.

I hope this stuff gets looked at. :) I am buying for the PS3 since I did Origins on that system and would like to carry my data over. The sound issue is the worst part, it takes away from the mood of the story and emotion portrayed when its all sad and there is a sudden silence of all sound before the next dialogue line starts. It should be seamless, like reading a book.

I have audio that stutters, or sounds like white noise-distortion when the game is loading, especially during cut-scenes. (PS3 version)

Really? Are we 12?

Anyways, of the people I have talked to, the PS3 version has some odd loading times. One playthrough, they will all go smooth, then the next they would get a random 30 sec. load time. It is odd, but hopefully something that has to do with the Hard Drive, and not the game itself.

The textures on the PS3 version are also extremely grainy in some places, causing them to look glittery from a distance. Some armors and clothing items (like Isabela's headrag) look really bad due to this.

This grainy stuff doesn't show up on the xbox360 version, so it is definitely isolated to the PS3 build of the demo...

The only issue I noticed was the long load times on the "create a customization/name screen" I thought the game froze lol

My post from the feedback thread...

SpezXVII wrote...

After playing all three versions I can say that this is a HUGE improvement in almost all areas. While I know some people are disappointed, I think the vast majority of changes and overhauls were for the better. That being said, I did notice:

  • The Xbox 360 demo had a glitch where it skipped a cutscene automatically.
  • The Xbox 360 had a conversation glitch where the characters spoke but were not animated. (This was on a separate playthrough.)
  • The Xbox 360 and PS3 demo's both experience choppy transitions between scenes.
  • The PS3 demo had a noticable difference in visual quality. Some cutscenes were blocky, blood would appear and disappear rapidly on clothes/armor, Bethany's chainmail would "shimmer." The PS3 however did seem to have better texture quality.
  • Loading times on PS3 were longer than the Xbox 360 by roughly 10-15 seconds.
  • The Xbox 360 and PS3 both experienced some choppy scenes and gameplay, with the more prevalent slowdowns found on the 360 but noticable on both.
  • The transition to the skill tree from the attributes page would freeze fro 1-2 seconds on the PS3.
Despite these flaws I will most certainly be purchasing the PS3 version on Day 1. (Possibly to include a copy for the Xbox 360 as well. I own ME2 on all 3 platforms, call me crazy.) These issues should be minor and easily patched. Overall I was pleased but I hope for just a tad bit more refinement for the PS3 since it seemed to be a bit behind in the pack.

Hawke just...stops responding to input sometimes, especially Mage Hawke after an AoE spell. I'll try to cast it (and won't always get the spell off), and then Hawke will just stand there, not moving, attacking or casting spells, for a few seconds. This got me killed once against the ogre in "real mode." Unspeakably frustrating. I really hope this is not a problem in the full game.

- Hawke and the companions' battle cries can't be heard
- Bethany's robes and Isabela's bandana looked grainy and glittery.
- Choppy cutscene transitions

I noticed the same things noted above on both the PS3 and XBox versions.  Transitions to and from cutscenes were abrupt and choppy, and I also noticed some of the texture flicker mentioned.  Also FWIW, I noticed after you finish the demo and it plays the short promo movie the "inquisitor" female talking to the dwarf had white hair, although she had black hair in the demo.  Not sure if that was a bug, or if the "white haired" version is supposed to represent her at some point in the future.

The jury's still out on the overall feel... don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both ME1 and ME2, but I'm just not sure the interface works for a swords-n-sorcery fantasy setting.  I will admit, I became rather attached to the versatility and elegance in the DA:O interface (played that on the PC tho.)  I still pre-ordered it, but hope we didn't move too far to the "action" genre of games.

I've never had that one. Are you sure your Hawke isn't just doing an animation? When you hit attack in battle and there isn't a target in range Hawke does an animation and the mage's is the longest. While Hawke does this animation you are pretty much stuck standing there.

And I didn't mention it above as I didn't consider it a bug, but people are mentioning textures and things so I'd like to say that the lighting in the area where Varric and Casandra are looked increadably blocky and drove me insane.

Edit: If memory serves the white haired Cassandra was the original design, but it has been changed. The video at the end of the demo is a little old, I think.

These two examples were the most jarring things to me in the PS3 demo. My eyes were just drawn to how horrible it looked. John Epler stated that the demo build is actually a few months older than the version we will be recieving at retail in this thread. Hopefully these issues have been fixed. Perhaps we can get an official word if this is known/fixed?

*ahem* Hint hint.

Came here to post about how my PS3 version froze before the character customization screen only to have it finally load after what was about 2 minutes.

Absolutely no loading whatsoever on the 360 version. :(

An update: I played 2 simultaneous playthroughs on my Xbox 360 and PS3 for a comparison. (Switched between the two and played the same section twice.) The Xbox 360 definitely looks better than the PS3 demo version. The PS3 has the weird, extra-sharp glittering armor and bandanna and it seems to have a bit more blurring. The Xbox did once again have quite a bit of choppiness in scenes when compared though.

Bioware, you've stated that this build is several months old and the retail product has since undergone several changes. Is there any way you could comment on whether these issues for PS3 were addressed/known and if any optimizations have been made?

(I ask because I have preordered it for PS3 but if it will still have these issues I want to swap my preorder to the Xbox 360 version. Thanks.)

EDIT: Also, if I purchase the PS3 version will the Fadeshear Sword and Lion of Orlais Shield be unlock only for that console or for all platforms?

Notice not a single response from Bioware about the audio issues I posted about in another thread as well. They're doing what they did with DA1. Keeping quiet about the bugs we're going to experience on the PS3 version.

I hope reviewers call them out on all of this.

Most companies don't outright say what bugs are and aren't going to be in the final version. But Bioware is a good company, I'm sure they handled what they could before gold and I'm sure they're dealing with having a patch on release day right now. I've yet to play a Bioware game even on release day that I'd consider buggy. Were there bugs? Yes. All minor tho and all fixed eventually. Except that Alister ignoring the mage ending >.> But if is buggy reviews will call them on it, they always do.

I don't know about that Fadeshear and Lion of Orlais Shield unlocked for all platforms thing, but I'd guess that it would work for everything.

I wouldn't expect them the say, "Hey guys, here's the flaws of our product!" It would be nice, however, if they just let us know it is known or if that is just the way the PS3 renders the game.

different roles, male/female....all crash on me. my ps3 is only 11 months old....

how are people who are experiencing this going to get their in-game item?
