Same bug here on both my husband and my pc.

Checksum is fine so no corrupted files.

Updated NVidia card - GE Force 7800 GT

Updated DirectX - DX11

Rebooted pc after a few times

And yeah nothing else of the demo was a problem but this ... is just annoying.

So far it seems everyone with this bug has a GeForce 7xxx series. Lets hope its not in the final game or at least a fix in the first patch.

What drivers are all our GeForce 7xxx using? The latest?

I'm having the same problem but I know I'm underpowered. I just assumed I need to buy a new video card...

Also happens with me ... I am below min spec but can still play the game on low graphics ... my card is GeForce Go 7400 ... I hope they can fix this, it seems so silly that the faces are present in the game itself but not in portraits etc.

Seems almost definite that its a card issue. Come on BioWare, is a fix possible?

I doubt they would bother fixing the demo.

I mean for the main game. They haven't stated to my knowledge if the black face bug is in the final game or not. If it is I hope they can fix it.

I'm running Forceware 197.54, which is the newest release that installs on my laptop.

Nvidia probably won't be fixing it if its a driver issue, I don't think they do driver updates for GeForce 7's anymore?

I don't know either. I hope BioWare can fix it with a patch or perhaps it's just a demo issue.

Didn't you say your chip ran the 7950GT driver?  It's at 266.58, which is the latest for all the Geforce cards.  Where are you getting your drivers from, the laptop vendor or Nvidia.

It can run the desktop 7950GT drivers (if i software-mod it into a GeForce), but the desktop drivers don't support going into standby, and they don't play nice with battery power. I get identical performance with the laptop drivers, so i use them instead.

197.54 Nvidia drivers are the most recent notebook drivers that install on my system.
As for the drivers on Dell's site... They have issues running Win7 Aero, let alone gaming.

If i can find where i put the softmodding program, i guess i'll try switching to the desktop side of things and reinstalling the 7950GT drivers, in case it solves any problems.

Bioware should be able to fix this for at least some of us - Desktop GeForce 7900 GS is supposedly compatible/supported, after all. Somehow i think Bioware will probably ignore those of us with weaker chipsets, or mobile variants.

That's what I'm thinking as that's what it seems like. I'd really love a response. This will let me know whether or not to buy it.

From the Demo's readme.txt:

Laptop or mobile versions of the above supported video cards
have not had extensive testing and may have driver or other
performance issues. As such, they are not officially
        supported in Dragon Age II.

You wouldn't be rolling a Dell Latitude D820, would you? I have the same issue with mine. Origins runs fine on it, though.

Heh - same issue, but I have a GForce 6800 (with latest drivers). Didn't bug me too much. Getting the signature edition on X360. Just wanted to check it out on both PC and X360 for the game feel.

Two people with Desktop 7900 GS's have had this issue so far - And those are the official minimum requirement, so they ought to get help. And the hardware everyone here is using is similar enough that what fixes this problem for one person, will probably fix it for all of us ;)
I can't see Nvidia fixing this, GeForce 7's are pretty old, and unimportant to them. Bioware will probably have to come up with a workaround, or up their requirements (Magicka did that, really pissed me off :P)

That disclaimer is pretty common, and i don't blame them for it. Finding up to date laptop drivers is a pain in the ass, especially for older and rarer chipsets.

No I've got a Sony Vaio laptop - Origins runs fine on it too even though it is also below min spec for DAO. It seems to be a Nvidia 7x00 thing? Please let them fix this in a first day patch if it's not already fixed :( it's such a glaringly obvious glitch ...
