I'm really not a big fan of toneless women spinning 2h weapons in one hand. So I could do without that. This isn't Final Fantasy and thank god for that, let's not go there now.

Morrigan's breasts are just as big Isabella's, and yet, she seems to be the ice queen that launched a thousand wanks. What's the difference?

And Isabella will launch a thousand more. Those of us who complain do not represent the majority.
I take less issue with Morrigan because A.) Her clothes were somewhat appropriate given her history and you could switch them out them anyway. B.) She didn't invite you come bang her after you spoke 2-3 times C.) The advertising paints Isabella as little more than a sex object and Bioware has done little to curtail this image, save showing that she's a sex object with attitude. D.) They really aren't as big as Isabella's.

Morrigan was a compelling character. So far, Isabella's more a a marketing strategy.

Yeah especially with her 'invitation'  ending the demo.

Yeah, that whole "slaves are people" exchange with Isabella and the cackling evil doers was pretty trite. I really hope the writing gets better than that, because that really bothered me about Origins. All the humans were wondering around being totally awful and evil and the moment someone does something semi-reasonable you are supposed to believe they have depth of character.

I'm disappointed with the direction Bioware took with his game, yes, but am I going to ****** and moan about yet ANOTHER sexually charged character in a fantasy game? No. Do I wish they had realistic women in these games? Yes. (and I could also sit here and cry that I can’t play as an elf but whatever…) DA:O was just graphically inferior, so Bio took the opportunity to try and use the high graphic appeal anyway they could. This is not new. Sad? Yes, but I'm still going to buy it and so is everyone else so why is it still an issue?

Why should men and women run differently?

Does "butch" mean that you don't fit into our society's warped definition of feminine? If that's the case, then I definitely want a butch Lady Hawke.

The hip movements are a bit exaggerated, but speaking as someone who runs regularly in body armor...a female's hips will still sway regardless.

Also, as for the boob thing...based on previous DA art, I think it's a safe bet to say that most of these pseudo-medieval women are wearing some kind of corset rather than bras. Those tend to exaggerate the boobs a bit and provide more prominent cleavage. Plus, it's a typical fantasy convention in video games that have humans and elves for the humans to be the busty, wide-hipped voluptuous types while the elves are more slender and modestly-proportioned. I guess it's to differentiate?

While the "sway" is a clear stylistic departure from the last Dragon Age, it is also true that men and women *do* run differently. A woman's pelvis is anatomically designed different from a man's because our bodies have to be set up to bear children. That's why women's hips sway slightly when they walk and men's generally don't.

Because it's extremely disappointing after the pleasant surprise of them NOT going there in DA:O.

I do not run/walk anything like Hawk - I guess I must be a "butch". I attempted to replicate Hawks walk - If I walked like that, I would need a hip replacement by now. All the respect DAO had for women went out the door with this sequel.

Please people do I really have to explain the reason(s) for the tagging of the word "butch" to the npc chicks in DAO?

To be honest, I don't think I know anyone (MAYBE 1 person) that has any appearance similar to those characters, especially not their thigh bones and breasts.

Probability dictates that there have to be human beings with that physiognomy....somewhere. Let's face it; they are meant to be physically appealing. Most video-game characters look like the archetype of their gender. Most male characters feature the v-shaped torso, most female characters have a hourglass-shaped figure.

I have a cousin and a little sister that could give some of those characters a run for their money, so such people do in fact exist, you just don't see them everywhere.  I tend to agree that I'd like to see more diversity in body types, but we haven't seen Merril yet and I get the impression she isn't the same top heavy model as the others.

I dunno, on the other hand there's some nice touches like Hawke's splintmail in non-exaggerated part of the demo (no more "loook, boobs!" armour) so it's more like take some, give some thing...

edit: as far as new walk/run and such goes, i don't think it's a bad thing they're separate now and matching the characters more (differences in build do cause difference when it comes to these) ... it just shouldn't really be a surprise that they wound up way exaggerated and over the top, when everything else is/was, both in DAO and DA2.

Awesome job on the female characters, their not only sexy and look kick ass swinging a two hander but they also  display the danty moves wether performing or just standing of a real female or should I say cyber female, Hehe and they dont run like the butches in DA1 anymore.. nice job..

Bottem Line....A very sexy, realistic but deadly presentation of the DA female species...very nicely done Bio...

You really think that? As a girl I can only say that they made me laugh the first time I saw the 'new' girls...
I play femHawke in the demo when I want to laugh a bit at the silliness of it,although I have grown to the walk by now (I had actually become used to the weird looking walk girls had in DA:O),the standing still looks ridiculous (....especially considered that femHawke isn't 15 and considering the circumstances)

Bottom Line:  Isabella's breasts are bigger than her head.

I just...can't look at that and spend any time doing anything other than laughing.  I know she will spend zero time in my party just because I couldn't stand to look at her.

I'm hoping somebody will release a mod that gives her an appearance that isn't such blatant fanservice.
In this kind of fantasy setting, I can't help but look at her and think "Wow. There is literally NO chance that you haven't been raped."

Wait, what? Are you serious?

Yeah, I just saw this too. If that other thread got locked, then this one certainly deserves to.

Yikes.:(

there is NOTHING wrong with what he said in CONTEXT to what he was talking about.

he said "In this kind of fantasy setting"

here's a clue, since you all don't have one, rape was very common in that kind of time-period...even in OUR world.

so yes, with her looks..she would be a target...he did NOT say it was just with her looks..it was NOT meant that just because she looks like that that she wouldn't have been raped in OUR time.

learn context..and the time period and setting the game is based off of before you jump, idiotically, on the bandwagon.

Yay,  rape is the fault of the victim.  This thread is absolutely awesome,  we go from ****ing about women's body types to using them as a justification for rape fantasys.  This is sick.

stating that in that time-period that she'd of been a target is not in any way blaming her or using ANYTHING for ANY kind of justification for any kind of rape "fantasy"

the only thing "sick" about the statement are the idiotic follow ups that are getting offended by it.

here's a clue, go educate yourself.  Even in the "real world" rape was common in the time-period DA is based off of...do you remember slavery? it was very common for the owners of slaves to rape the women...

no one has justified it....much less supported it...he simply said that looking and dressing the way she does she'd of been a target...

you're one of those politically correct winners that scream racist at everything too aren't ya?

go educate yourself.  come back later.

I once saw someone walk like the female DA2-characters. But it was a friend, he was in drag with exaggerated hip padding ( two shoulderpads sewn in under the dress on each side for the 'feminine' shape ), on heels and not completely sober.
