   Introduction:

   Hello Ladies and Gentleman I created this thread in response to the leaked "Arrival" DLC rumor that started early today. I recently formulated my own theory regarding the next DLC, you can see it here . As most of you know a very inquistive fellow gamer and ME fan Vamplosion recently found evidence of the next DLC pack for ME2.

First lets thank Mr. Vamplosion for being awesome!!!

Second
lets look at the facts;

   Some of the pictures of the "Arrival" DLC patch show three achievements/trophies;

-The Ultimate Sacrifice:
Complete the Arrival DLC
-Last Stand: Survive all five waves in the battle for Object Rho
-Covert Action: Rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention.

   Dr. Amanda Kenson, this name was recently mentioned in a Cerberus Daily News (CDN) posting, (01.24.11).

01/24/2011 - Paper Suggests Mass Relays Predate Protheans
“Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus. Her team claims that by testing the dust trapped in the gravity wells around a mass relay, and comparing its composition to that of dust clouds in the same system, scientists can create a timeline of when the relay passed through the dust. Her conclusion? "Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years," she writes, "The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans." Dr. Aurana T'Meles of the University of Serrice met the information with skepticism: "While Dr. Kenson's methods appear sound, the asari tried a similar procedure centuries ago and discounted it. What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?"

   Thompson Family  made an excellent post regarding some new star systems that were recently noticed in the Alternate Appearance Pack 2;

"There are data entries for a new star system in the Alternate Appearance Pack 2, at least in the PC version. The new system is: Viper Nebula, with the Bahak System in it. The Bahak system has five planets: Clogon, Aratoht, Yunaca, Urnola and Bastzuda. There is a goal marker for “Save Dr. Kenson,” but no indication of which planet. All planets are listed as under batarian surveillance and most are inhabited. SOURCE: Thanks to didymos1120 and charmingcharlie (plus any others I don’t know about.) for confirming this on this thread".

   Thompson Family also made an excellent summary regarding the relationship between Dr. Amanda Kenson and the other various CDN entries. i.e.

"KNOWN: The Bahak System is the same system where there was a testy situation between the Earth Systems Alliance and the Batarian Hegemony. The system’s in the Skyllian Verge. Cerberus Daily News (01.22.11 and 01.23.11.)

Summary:

A frigate from the batarian colony of Aratoht discovered an Alliance cruiser, the SSV Budapest, in the Bahak system. The Alliance claimed the Budapest chased pirates into batarian space.

The Budapest eventually left Batarian, averting a worse crisis. The Alliance refused to release the ship’s logbooks to support the pirate claim.

For every planet, EDI gives the same warning: “The Batarian Hegemony considers any presence of Alliance military vessels in batarian space as hostile. The Normandy SR2, while an independent vessel, strongly resembles the Normandy SR1, an Alliance ship. Use of stealth systems is highly recommended.”

Each of the planet descriptions let you know how intense its spy satellite surveillance is.

THEREFORE: Kenson is in batarian space and the Alliance can’t send in a rescue without risking a clash.

KNOWN: The Normandy is a Cerberus ship that’s fast and stealthy. Its chances of getting caught are lower than a normal vessel and the consequences of it being caught – as long as you’re not on it – aren’t as dire (diplomatically) as the capture and destruction of an alliance ship. It also has EDI, which betters its odds, and Joker
."

   I believe Thompson Family is right on the money with this post.

Third, the Alliance and the Virmire Survivor;

   As I mentioned in my previous theory the return of the VS has been a huge ME Fan request since before ME2 was out, this DLC creates an opportunity for the VS to re-appear as a temporaray squadmate and LI just like Liara did in LoTSB, I elaborate further on this in my previous DLC theory. This also creates an opportunity for Shepard to formally re-unite with the Alliance or stay with Cerberus, (another issue that's still up in the air).

i.e. Admiral Hackett requires Shepards help with yet another "situation" OR The Illusive Man requires that you look into a developing situation in the Verge... Depending on Shepard's relationship with Cerberus after the SM; base destroyed, Hackett calls, base kept The Illusive Man calls.

Fourth, Bioware input, GDC and the possible release date;

   Jesse Houston wrote in the original What is Arrival? thread, "More info as soon as I get a green light from PR and Marketing I promise!" (Post here). Chris Priestly the Bioware Community Coordinator stated that "You will learn more about these achievements in the coming weeks. Keep checking out the Mass Effect website for updates." (Here).
   Announcement, the GDC or Game Developers Conference is an industry wide conference where game developers, studios and publishers go to do whatever it is they do... there. More importantly it starts next week,  (Feb. 28 - Mar. 04), and considering the timing of this discovery, Mr. Houston's and Mr. Priestly's comments I believe that Bioware will be officially announcing the "Arrival" DLC at the GDC.
   I further speculate that the release date of this new DLC pack will be on April 11th, 2011 which would coincide with the Commander Shepard's actual birthday of April 11th, 2154

***New***

Fifth, Ultimate Sacrifice an opportunity? for an ME3 Profile Re-construction and New Player Intro;

   I believe there is a strong possibility, however unlikely that Shepard will be sacrificed in this DLC. If he/she is, it gives Bioware an opportunity to incorporate the Profile Re-construction from ME1 and ME2 into ME3. Name, Military Backround, Pre-Service History, etc... would once again all be customizable.

Conclusion:

  I apologize for the length of this thread and I commend you if you actually managed to read the entire piece. I as most of this is based on fact and speculation I'm confident in it. However I understand that as humans we naturally follow the clues that support our own theories so the possibility exists that I may be incorrect in some way or another but only time will tell... Image IPB

"400 posts in the first 4 hours... Another 900 by the end of the first day. These are well-coordinated replies, and so far they've been damn speculative. We don't know what it is, or when'll it arrive. Only one thing is certain: if BioWare doesn't announce it soon, there won't be a forum left to discuss at."
        I SURVIVED THE ARRIVAL DLC LEAK.

LOL, that signature is awesome!!!Image IPB

Edit 1.0 more coming soon...

Hah! So the Batarian standoff did have something to do with the new DLC. I remember being let down when nothing happened after that entry.

Yes, GDC plz. With a trailer. Me wants a nice, juicy trailer to drool over.

Oh yeah, and nice job, OP.  Seriously, it's rare to see this kind of effort put into a thread topic.

Thanks for the kind words, Hawkeye121. The people who deserve any credit are those mentioned in my post -- the ones who looked at the PS3 patch and who confirmed the PC AAP2 info: Vamplosion, didymos1120 and charmingcharlie. If others posted the same info, I apologize for not seeing it first.

After those forum members laid it out, all I had to do was type it up. If the DLC comes and I interpreted their info wrongly, that's all my fault.

I hope, for the sake of all the people waiting for a VS resolution and a Cerberus/Alliance resolution, I hope you're right.

Edited P.S.

To clarify,new star systems haven't appeared in the PC version -- yet. Data related to them has appeared in -- of all places -- the Alternate Apperance Pack 2.

PC players don't see any new systems on the screen.

Fantastic information gathering. Saves those of us, like myself, from spelunking through threads to find the nuggets of truth. lol. That being said, I'm really looking forward to a stand up fight with the Batarians again. I bet if you're covert about it you wont have issues with rallying the Batarians against the Reapers in ME3.

No problem sir, I just hate running through page after page of text looking for info. But you are correct the true credit goes to Vamplosion, didymos1120 and charmingcharlie for discovering this info in the first place.

Also, didn't EA have on mention that there would be something "far reaching" coming out for ME in the first quarter 2011. This would line up with that exactly.

Thanks for compiling the info Hawkeye. Interesting read, I missed that whole deal on the hidden info in the AAP2 so some of this is news to me.

And I know you were simply speculating about rejoining the Alliance or continuing to work with Cerberus, but I feel like I'm one of the few who sees the merrits of working with neither. Look at the ME3 trailer for one. Nigel Fishnchips says "If Shepard doesn't bring help soon." Not the Alliance, not Cerberus, Shepard. Shepard can't submit to an organization at this point. He/she needs to bring the rest of the Galaxy together to fight off the Reapers.

I think the whole point of ME2, and part of ME1, was to set up Shepard so that he/she is totally independant, and has the resources, tools, and influence and his/her disposal so that Shepard can ultimately save the universe.

There's a lot of specifics I'd like to go into, but since this is the no spoilers forum, I'll leave it at that, I think my point has been made.

I would like to see players who romanced the VS reunited with Ash/Kai though, (Hopefully I didn't imply otherwise) I just don't think rejoining the Alliance is the way to accomplish that or anything else.
