Anyways I'm glad to see the tidbits point to this DLC having to deal with the Batarians. It'd be especially awesome if this could be tied in with Balak from Bring Down the Sky, but that may be too optimistic. I'm really hoping that this involves a reunion with Ashley/Kaidan. Hopefully also as a Squadmate again like Liara was. Also would be nice to get a message from Hackett instead T.I.M. or Cerberus for a change.
If anything this sounds like a pretty big DLC in that it likely has at least 5 missions. Also sounds like there'll be some additional features like actually using the Normandy for stealth.

I'd love to see Balak make his return, so I can put him down finally

But there is reason that the batarians could be linked to the Reapers.
1/ I haven't read ascension, but as far as I am aware the batarian scientists were the ones that discovered Sovreign, or were at least linked to it's discovery.
2/ The mad prophet on Omega seems to know about the Reapers, and even predicts the events of ME2. He seems to emulate Manuel from Eden Prime, and therefore may have interacted with Reaper/ Prothean technology.
3/ The Levathian of Dis seems to have similarities with the Reapers, and was last seen in batarian hands.
On a side note, the batarian invasion has been forshadowed since BDtS, and it seems plausable for the batarians to attempt to manipulate Reaper technology in order to gain supremecy. With the orbital mirror system on their side they could end up being the antagonist species in ME3, playing a similiar role to the geth and collectors. The yahg and vorcha are also prime candidates.
The role of the batarians could be similiar to the turians and Saren in ME1, with the history between the two species initially seen as the motivation, where the Reapers are actually behind it all.
Also, whilst it would make sense for Hacket and the VS to be involved, with them being part of the allience, plus it would be awesome, I would have thought there may have been a reference to at least the VS in the achievements, like how Liara had an achievement in LoTSB... It doesn't mean it's ruled out but I'm not getting my hopes up.

hell IF me3 is set after the reapers arrive (and you have to deal with it) then something based on their original arrival would be quite unique, without subtracting anything from the main ME3 experience.

Same here, Jebel.
I really hope it will somehow be about the (coming) arrival of the Reapers. And not just about, cool as it may be, kicking Batarian arse to save the Dr. , sacrificing a few innocents along the way (a la BDtS)... that just wouldn't be epic enough for the final "bridging" DLC, imho.

The relays have a lot to do with the reapers and this scientist is researching the relays, even if it would be self-contained it still would involve the reapers, albeit in a second-hand kind of way.Fiery Phoenix wrote...
It's shaping up to be Bring Down the Sky 2.0, which is a good thing. Although, I still hope it involves the Reapers one way or another, since it's supposed to be a canonical part of the overarching story; that is to say, it can't be completely self-contained.
