So there for those saying the game will be short.
How can anyone complain about anything over 20 hours being "short" these days? Bioware is one of the few companies left that are releasing decent sized games.

This might be why I buy so few new games these days.

In my opinion DA:O was unnecessarily long. All the hours spent going aimlessly through the fade, the deep roads, and trying to gather enough store bought items from the stores interspersed throughout the world was grating on my patience.
This I agree with...the fade was pretty quick once you knew what you were doing, but the deep roads really got old pretty fast. The concept for the roads is fine and all, but without very much scenery and enemy variety it just didn't cut it for me. Not that there's much scenery in caves, but whatever
A lot of complaints about the Deep Roads, and while I hear them, I always loved that part of the game simply due to Hespith's little rhyme as you get closer to the Broodmother. Favorite part of the game. Whichever Bioware writer wrote that/came up with the Broodmother, they're the best!
Edit: As for why I don't listen to the fully voiced lines, in my defense, I read naturally really, really, really fast. I hate listening to people as opposed to reading text as voice is like slo-mo to me. It took a few playthroughs actually to realize there were a few places where pressing ESC skipped more than one portion of voice that the subtitles didn't cover (hence loosing some story) of text, which kind of sucked. And, while I did skip through most voiced dialogue, it's not like I skipped all of them. I loved Shale and Morrigan's voices, slow they may have been, and listend to them in all their glory.

Then again, people are dying to the ogre in this demo, so there's obviously a huge range in player skill (ok, I hate to use the word skill, but there it is).
Seriously. He wasn't even able to take me below 50% health and I was pecking at him with my rogue.
Aveline is such a boss.

They could have just cut out Caridin's Cross and it would have been much less tedious. The Dead Trenches/The Anvil of the Void were just fine as areas, and I enjoyed them. But Caridin's Cross and to a lesser degree Ortan Thaig were just not interesting.
At least Ortan Thaig had the spider boss and Ruck, if nothing else.

I love long games. But I don't like padding in my games. The reason why I sank over 150 hours into the Baldur's Gate series was because almost all the sidequests and non critical content were either fascinating or just plain challenging. 'Cept Firewine. The level design for that dungeon needs to burn and die.
I've played about 60 hours of the original DA, Origins and Awakening combined. And have no intention of playing more because parts of the game are long without being fun. Deep Roads, looking at you. Long = good. Overlong = bad.

I get bored watching the same stuff.Riloux wrote...
Obviously, if you only read subtitles, don't read codex entries and play on Easy, the game will be much much shorter. I like to fully experience games, so I listen to all the wonderful voice work, read the imaginative codex entries, and play tactically on Nightmare. Like you don't understand how people can take so long, I don't understand why people would want to rush through so quickly.
I get bored of the writing once i catch on to the mood of it all....or something like that.
When I can predict the writing well enough it becomes a bit stale. Its why i dont watch much TV anymore besides news.

100 hours of DAO went quick because i love that game. its my fave all time game.
and 50 hours of ME2 took a LONG time because i wasnt as interested in it as i was DAO. in fact i have only beat ME2 once and DAO 3 times, that says something right there...
(not to mention the other 20 games i have started in DAO and that on average lasted 35 hours, literally, no joke there...)

I really enjoyed ME, ME2 and DA, didn't matter to me how long it took me, as long as I was entertained along the way. Reason why I don't play MMOs, lots of hours, but those hours are mostly grind (which I abhor).
And if one really wanted to talk hours, it's replay value. In DA, I played through several times just because of the different Origins. Probably spent over 200 hours playing it. Same went for ME, less so for ME2 as it didn't really make a difference which companions you took along.
More important to me than the amount of time a single playthrough takes, is replay value. If it's only one I'd enjoy 50 hours is not good. If I'd enjoy it 3, 4 or more times even 20 hours would be fine.

I'm taking this from a game review in said magazine, not a quote from a developer. This is the time it took the reviewer to play it.eucatastrophe wrote...

Seems rather short to me :/ ... but then again they said origins would take 40 hrs with sidequests so its not that much of a difference when you compare it like that.

So there for those saying the game will be short.
You watch, someone will come in and say they beat the game in an hour. It always happens. Although I think the shortest was 5 for origins.
