Origins took me about 150 hours. I played through the beginning and Ostagar fairly quickly, but I got sidetracked in Denerim for roughly 80 hours trying to kill pedestrians with fireballs and staring at textures. Good game.

The first run always takes me a long time as I look through every area I can, so my first run could be at the 80 hour mark or longer. After the first run my time is usually cut in half. I just did a hard run of origins doing every sidequest and it took me 22 hours.

Wow 40min. As realistic as 40 min sounds, I'll probably beat the game in 25-30hrs, since it took me 35-40hrs to beat Origins.

The supposed 100+ hours in Origins were like 50 or less for a lot of people.

I don't really expect it to be upwards of 50 hours because it took about 40 to 50 hours for me to complete DAO (including all side quests). Dev confirmed that the game would be shorter than DAO many times. So I'm expecting it'd be around 30 hours or so for me. I think it's good, since I will end up in 10 play-throughs (every weapon styles in each gender).

Did a dev not say that it was longer than ME2 and shorter than Origins? I'm sure I read or heard that somewhere.

I've been rushing through another playthrough of origins (casual, few sidequests, still listen to some dialogue) for importing into DA2 and I'm about to go to the landsmeet at 22hours.

From experience, you can generally cut the claimed game hours down to at least 75% to get a more realistic figure. Many times 50%.

Though it will suck if DA2 is shorter than Origins. Origins was about the minimum length of a decent RPG according to established genre conventions. Ideally, they should be longer, but the notion of a 20 hour RPG is quite laughable.

If its longer then mass effect I'll be very happy, but DA:O wasn't long, so much as they jam packed it with a lot of trashy bits to beaf it up.

The point being?
Some people take longer to play through then others (Thank you Cpt. Obvious).

So it is actually pretty silly to argue wether DA2 will take upwards of 50 hours to complete (unless someone were to add something like "on the average").
I know I'll take longer then 50 hours to complete it if the statement that it's longer then ME2 is true. I also know (well, not really know, but I'm safe to assume) that there will be lots of people who will take a lot less then 50 hours to complete DA2 (just simply based on the statement that it will be shorther then DA:O).

So it's clear! Posted Image

DA2 will take more then 50 hours to complete AND it will take far less then 50 hours to complete. Posted Image

I'm sick of hearing about the minimum time it would take to complete a game. I wanna hear about the maximum time.

In most of my Bioware RPG's, I could get 40 hours minimum on my first playthrough. Which is perfect. I no longer expect the 100+ hour epics of the Infinity Engine.

I didn't think the ingame 'time played' took into account cutscenes and dialog?

What are you, like, doing all the sidequests or something? I can do an Origins runthrough in MINUS 15 minutes. Yeah that's right, you bunch of newbs, my playthroughs are so awesomely short that each one actually reduces the amount of time I've spent on this planet. True story.

Er, seriously? I'm expecting LOTS of hours. 40 or more.

It took me 60 for Origins, so perhaps 40 for DA2?

I like to fully experience everything in the game so it will likely take me around the 50 hours or so to complete. Mass Effect 2 took me about 45-47 hours so I think it will be pretty comparable.

i love it how the people that cry about the game being to short are also the same ones that race through the same skipping dialog/side quests/ etc and playing it on "give me" mode aka casual.

I finished my first playthrough in DAO in about 34 hours. I did all the side quests in that time, listened to every sentence chars said (so no esc), and paused every now and then, so I took my time. This was on easy though, so it would've taken me 35-40 on normal I think.

So there for those saying the game will be short.
