Considering the ME2-style tunnel level design featured in the demo I don't think exploring is going to add much time. How much time do you save in ME2 if you blaze through rather than "explore" the whole thing? Not much. There's not much exploring to be done in a tunnel.

clearly the intro level to a game always tell you how the level design will be. I mean every other game like fallout or oblivion clearly gave you much more complex levels..Oh wait...

Bottom line is that 100 hours or 50 hours, that's still a huge quantity of content and significantly more than most of my other favourite games. It's value.

I took 35 hours to beat Origins and 15 to beat ME2. I expect to take around 20 for this one.

I thought it would take ten years to complete! Darn it! I was misled somehow! ;)

(though, I don't understand how someone wouldn't want to explore the world and everything within it.) :)

They were more than likely playing WOW 12 hours a day with no meaning or imagination involved..

Are you serious? In Fallout there is a world to explore. In Mass Effect 2 there is only ever a tunnel to move backwards or forwards in. Granted that's exaggerating a bit because most of the time the option to move backwards is denied the player by some door or passage that only goes one way.

And I find it much better than strolling through a huge, boring area looking for quests while doing absolutely nothing.

I agree. Exploration is only fun if something happens. Something always happened when you moved forward in ME2.

his point is that the intros to games are ALWAYS very linear. even in super open worlded games like fallout and oblivion. fallout you got the vaults, oblivion you got the prison.

because a demo / intro is linear absolute means nothing when it comes to exploring the game.
the origins in DA:O are super super linear as well and they are set up to be basic tutorial areas. the demo was made simply to show off the combat and a coulpe other changes. why would they put exploration and unclear goals in a DEMO? makes absolutely no sense.

think first.

DA took me less than a week to complete-perhaps 30 hours or so on nightmare.

Considering how much padding Origins had (Deep Roads, Fade Dear God the Fade) 50 hours sounds like a perfect length for the game (assuming there is nothing like the Sloth Demon to trade you in the fade for days and days)

Agreed. 50 hours is more than reasonable is some of the DAO style padding has been removed.

Probably be something like ME2, ME1 had a lot of padding (damn you Mako!) ME2 was shorter but there was little padding and the levels where better designed.

Wha....hammerhead, planet scan....., granted there are some workarounds on PC

Hammerhead was optional, and they failed with that, though I don't know why they think it was good.

The scan was... tedious but not necessary for that much.

And the biggest problem was some of those useless "hidden" missions.

Reviewers tend to be on the faster end of the spectrum than I am, so seeing them say 50+ without doing all of the side quests is I think a good sign.

Is it Casino? My parents used to watch that movie all the time. I think the guy was Spider or something, anyhow, I remember something about a shine box being mentioned. :)

To be honest though, this is just the base game of DA2 thats supposedly around 50 hours. We don't know yet what DLC they have planned for the game. Besides Sebastian, I believe he's the only current piece of DLC we know about that has a quest attatched to it.
