(though, I don't understand how someone wouldn't want to explore the world and everything within it.)
They were more than likely playing WOW 12 hours a day with no meaning or imagination involved..

clearly the intro level to a game always tell you how the level design will be. I mean every other game like fallout or oblivion clearly gave you much more complex levels..Oh wait...
Are you serious? In Fallout there is a world to explore. In Mass Effect 2 there is only ever a tunnel to move backwards or forwards in. Granted that's exaggerating a bit because most of the time the option to move backwards is denied the player by some door or passage that only goes one way.

And I find it much better than strolling through a huge, boring area looking for quests while doing absolutely nothing.Eber wrote...

I agree. Exploration is only fun if something happens. Something always happened when you moved forward in ME2.

his point is that the intros to games are ALWAYS very linear. even in super open worlded games like fallout and oblivion. fallout you got the vaults, oblivion you got the prison.
because a demo / intro is linear absolute means nothing when it comes to exploring the game.
the origins in DA:O are super super linear as well and they are set up to be basic tutorial areas. the demo was made simply to show off the combat and a coulpe other changes. why would they put exploration and unclear goals in a DEMO? makes absolutely no sense.
think first.

Probably be something like ME2, ME1 had a lot of padding (damn you Mako!) ME2 was shorter but there was little padding and the levels where better designed.nicodeemus327 wrote...

Considering how much padding Origins had (Deep Roads, Fade Dear God the Fade) 50 hours sounds like a perfect length for the game (assuming there is nothing like the Sloth Demon to trade you in the fade for days and days)
Agreed. 50 hours is more than reasonable is some of the DAO style padding has been removed.

Wha....hammerhead, planet scan....., granted there are some workarounds on PC

The scan was... tedious but not necessary for that much.
And the biggest problem was some of those useless "hidden" missions.
