First, I appologize since I can't seem to find the PS3 section for DA2 (most likely because it does not exist yet). Second, I'm gonig to preface this by saying that I may be forced to cancel a Bioware Signature Edition preorder of DA2 because of this and a few other 'problems' (this isn't a review and complaining won't get it changed... so.. I'll get to the issue now. <.<)

I have an old SD CRT TV. The Demo is practically unplayable. I cannot read any of the text on the screen, not even standing 6 inches away from the screen (slight exageration, only a slight one). It really strains the eyes too read anything and the graphics get all funked up as well. I've played both the PC and the PS3 versions and the PS3 version looks like utter filth, mostly due to the screen scrunching/aspect ratio faults.

Problems I've noticed in the Demo:

- PS3 version graphics blurry.
- PS3 version text is nigh unreadable.
- PS3 version textures/landscapes/ground are flatter (the PC version looks pretty flat/uninteresting at times too but at least I can actually SEE them better >.>).

Question: Will the retail version actually support SD/CRT output? As in, will I actually be able to play the game?

Clarification: Presumably it will but I'm asking to make sure because some games I've played/have gotten as gifts are basically HD/Widescreen only. It is seriously frustrating to be unable to play a game due to being unable to afford a new TV and failure to Legacy Support. >.>

Edit:

Another problem I had was the demo "froze" at the Character Creation screen. The game stopped taking input from the controller and was greyed out/darkened. To fix this I had to turn off the Controller and turn it back on. While fixable, it was annoying and frustrating to spend 45 seconds wondering why none of the controls were working.

I have a HDTV and although I can read the text I sometimes have to get up from my couch and go closer to read it. It's annoying. Bioware, will the final game be the same? I preordered months ago so please answer.

I've got my PS3 hooked up to my WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD Flat-Screen (HDMI to DVI cable) running at 1080p. The text was perfectly readable but I wouldn't hold my breath for a SDTV-fix in the retail code.

If I remember correctly the same issue plagued both the 360 and PS3 versions of ME2 and hasn't been fixed (yet).

Get the PC version instead ^^

Either get PC version or a HDTV.

Text on my HDTV was fine.

I think the blurry graphics and text size issue is just because of your TV. I have my PS3 hooked up to a 1920x1080 monitor via HDMI and everything looked fine. You're either going to need to get the PC version or try using the PS3 on the monitor you're on now.

That's just not doable. I spent my Tax Return building a new computer, and I've had the PS3 version pre-ordered for months thinking that the game would be at least playable on the TV. That it is not is extremely frustrating when you have a limited edition pre-order.

The PS3 is a shared machine, which means it's in the living room, away from my computer, 360, and (most importantly) HDTV/Monitor (though a small/somewhat crappy one). Moving it in here is not an option, nor is buying an HDTV. Looks like I have to hear back from EB Games about a stupid question I know the answer to (it's gonna be No) before deciding to either cancel the game and pre-order a non-BSE version of the PC Version (probably through Steam) or just plain cancel the pre-order all together.

I have to agree, the text size is a little insane. This isn't the only topic about this. If you go back to the other topic, you'll see that even ppl with HD tvs had issues with the text size. I don't know, I mean it wouldn't hurt if there was an option to make the font bigger.

Yes! Yes! This! Seriously. This absolutely needs to be an adjustable setting. My eyes are already messed up from a childhood of reading text on the TV in video games. I don't know how easy a fix this would be, but if it's not too much to ask, this would save me so much grief!

Just because it CAN be easilly readable with a good enough TV, doesn't mean that it doesn't strain your eyes to do it for an hour (or likely more) at a time!

The worst part is that the small text is completely unnecessary as far as screen space is concerned. SO much of the screen and the interface is just empty.

I play mine on a 42inch Sony Bravia fullhd tv with a HDMI cable and the text is fine, the graphics look no different to xbox360 version(I don't know a bout PC because I Havnt played that version). The fact is these games are now made for HD so graphics and text will be blurry and basically look poor When used with scart leads or anything not hdmi.

Blurry or looking poor is not the biggest issue. Having it sharp and pretty is just gravy. The fact that the text is too small is the problem. Even if it's HD, if you have your TV room set up for kinect use, then your furniture is going to be really far away from the TV and the tiny tiny text will be hard to read.

Yes I know that it's not supposed to be played on SDTV, but as the person above me said even on HDTV (which I have) if your couch (or something else you sit or lay on during watching TV) is too far from your TV the text is hard to read. I cannot just move my couch to the middle of my living room every time I play DA2.

Accidentally started a new thread for PS3 issues because I haven't found this one here before.

Text size could be a bit bigger, on my 40 inch TV it is still okay though.

These are the issues I encountered with the demo on PS3:

1. Wesley's voice can't be heard (all others work fine)

2. In the "real story" the Ogre ran through until he reached the end of the battlefield and kept walking without attacking and also being defenseless

3. Voices in the chantry cut out, i.e. not really the voices but the big reverb is cut which is not sounding pretty

4. Automatical Consumation of health potions when health goes down to a certain level can't be defined in the tactics for party members (maybe this is a feature and not a bug? Or maybe it does not work the DA:O way? Pls help)

5. When running through Hightown with Isabella iI wasn't able to grab any loot because she ran way too fast forcing me to join her.

Anyone got the same?

No one else on the PS3 had frame rate issues besides me? The games fps dropped a lot and was very inconsistent in battles.

As far as text size, I don't know how big you're tv is. But mines is a 46 and the text size looks fine to me.

I finished the demo twice, but the problems you mentioned never happened. Everything was fine. Also I never noticed any frame rate drop. The only problem was the small text (although it was readable it could be bigger) and the opening scene when you see that lamp it looks like something taken out of early PS2 days.
