I've just recently decided to replay the NWN campaigns... I believe I recall that the original NWN and SoU both start at level 1 and the 3rd, HotU started at a higher level. IIRC, NWN & HotU used the same NPCs, or at least some of them, however, on Wikipedia the article stated that SoU and HotU were meant to be linked plot-wise. From a role-playing/game-playing experience, which is better, NWN to HotU or SoU to HotU??

Basic plot question - no spoiler...

OC to HotU creates a PC of a higher level (usually around 18) than what HotU was designed for. By default the auto-leveler in HotU creates a level 14 PC if starting it without a pre-made PC. Typical levels are listed in the respective readme's that installed on your PC.
Although there are some references to OC events in HotU, the main theme is a continuation of SoU. It assumes you have already played the OC as a distinct PC to glean the historical events and relationships when you start SoU and then progress to HotU.
So as far as RP goes, the story unfolds as: OC -- SoU -- HotU. (See this topic for bridge suggestions.)
