In running the demo with DX11 selected on my Vista 32-bit PC, I was finding the tactics setting menus very glitchy. The tactic slots, and the available triggers and actions, would only become highlighted and selectable if I moused over certain parts of the relevant image. For example only the far left side of the tactic or the far right side would trigger the highlighting, but if I moused over the center of the item, it could not properly be selected as a tactic.
This was a strange bug, which did not prevent me from using the menus, but made them user-hostile.
I was running the demo in DirectX 11 mode, because trying it at the DX9 setting was crashing. Resolution was set to my native resolution of 1680x1050. I had the video setting at medium with AA off.

Same issue, though ran DX9 on Win7-64 bit. I had it worse, because sometimes I couldn't access the "Use Abilities" menu at all (it wouldn't highlight). Attempting to click on it just selected the very first ability the characters learned.
I also had another issue where after repeatedly mousing over and finally being able to select the Condition, when trying to select the Action to correspond to it, the game would read something else and change the Condition on me (for example, "Enemy: Targeted by Hawke" would change to "Enemy: Targeted by Controlled Member")
I also had issues with Enemies Clustered, as I'd clearly see three or four darkspawn grouped up with another and yet no Fireball would be cast (and yes, I'd check and it would not be on cooldown).

yup .. I had this too .. made it very, very awkward to set-up tactics easily rather than stick with stock set-ups .. the ONLY downside to the demo imo

I guess that I should be glad that I am not the only one who experienced this. I hope that it is addressed before release.

Same issue as well and it was pretty frustrating. In some cases it was changing the trigger criteria when i was trying to change the action. I could get it to work somewhat reliably when clicking on the very edge of the tactics drop-downs.

I came across this too and I had difficulty with changing the criteria. The "clear" option didn't work for me.

I had this too. And I found tactics menu to be much more annoying to use than in da:o in every other way too. Well, I count myself lucky, this is the only thing I want to rant about in demo.

I also have seen this problem... It makes tactics unusable in the demo. There may also be some related problems with the keybinding menu.

it's not only the tactics menu - the whole gui is glitchy. sometimes the click zones are not across the whole gui button. you have to hover the mouse cursor to the far left or right side of the button...

had this too. I hope it gets fixed for release, cannot imagine playing a DA without a fine tuned strategy.

Same here. How many of you are using a Microsoft Laser Mouse? I am, and just like in DA:O, scrolling doesn't work with it. I wouldn't be surprised to hear it's screwing up the tactics menu too.
Either way: you've left this mouse unsupported AGAIN Bioware. Every other developer supports it, since it IS a popular mouse series. Sort it out this time around please.

Hey guys,
Unfortunately we will not be able to correct this issue for the demo but it appears to be fixed in the main game.

Just a heads up. Even though you can see and choose DirectX 11 on the video menu. It is not enabled. I changed to DirectX 9 and Medium graphics setting and everything worked fine. My PC runs Windows 7 64bit and has 2 GTX 460 in SLI Mode. Origins runs great and once I made the change in the demo (I also tried to run it in DirectX 11 with horrible results) everything went smoothly.

Although Bioware's statement that it "appears to be fixed" in the retail version is a tad too uncertain for my liking, I do appreciate that Bioware is looking at these issues. It probably would have been more appropriate had Bioware caledl this an open beta, however. As a beta this is very cool, but as a demo it is sadly buggy.

Seems to affect a variety of PC configurations.
For the record my system:
i7, 12 GB of ram,
2 x 5750 Sapphire VaporX HD cards in crossfire mode.
Microsoft ergo keyboard
Razer Lachesis mouse.
Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I got this issue as well. I could click around and eventually get the tactic right but there are definite glitches. I'm running it on W7 Pro 64 bit

Same problem with you guys, though I can still select tactics by hovering my mouse over the boxes until they highlight, though it seems to change the target as well.
Also, I don't remember AOE spells becoming unclickable when directly used on a single enemy. I had to click the ground for the spell to activate.
SPECS:
Windows XP
Pentium D (1.6 GHz)
2.5 GB RAM
Inno3D NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT
(I can run Origins on High with these settings)

Same here guys. Tactics menu issue as everyone has described in addition to an issue with leveling up a character. Clicking on a portrait to level up from the main UI sometimes brings up the wrong character and when in the level up UI clicking on a different character's portrait sometimes kicks me out to the main UI..
Hopefully we won't get this in the full game because that would be a game-breaker no joke.
I have to say I prefer the Origins main interface (portraits, health bars etc.). This interface is more consoley.
If these bugs get ironed out it still looks like a great game though.

Well I don't know if that's intentional or not but - clicking the levelup arrow on the portrait of a character brings the levelup screen of the character you currently have selected instead of the one whose levelup arrow you clicked. And furthermore when you're switching characters in the levelup window by clicking on their portrait it closes the window if you click on the portion of the portrait with the levelup arrow. It's a bit counter-intuitive.
And yeah, it would be nice also if when targeting AoE spells the pointer would ignore creatures/characters underneath it, thus making it easier to click on the ground under a group of enemies.
Oh and while I don't have this problem myself I've noticed some people have issues with certain resolutions. The active area of some buttons is smaller than it should be (similar to tactics screen issues), for example the "confirm" and "back" buttons.
The tactics screen issues you said are fixed already so those I'll ignore.
