Bioware, Guilty as charged.

Writing was goddamn awefull and remedial.Who wrote this ? cannot have been DG.

Paraphrase wheel repeatedly removed you from the game, choice and dialogue was unrealistic tosh.
"Is that you Rebecca...it's me Chris". " I seem to be trapped...wait there "
Coupled with an almost feminine voiced Protaganist made the character very weak.Varrics Voice would have at least made the hero more plausible.

Fighting was a whole lot of sillyness.

Dragon Age 2 is so far removed from the original tactical rpg as to be not an rpg at all ..I was fully expecting Sonic to join in one of those attacks. On the subject of attacks a few simple strategic choices rendered any further interaction from you unwarranted. You could simply sit back , twiddle your thumbs and wait till for all the silly slashing and unrealistic prancing about to end .Then highlight another victim.

Overall the demo was a huge let down and can only assume it's intention was to present a hack n slash game to a 12 yr old audience.Though I think even they will quickly lose interest.

Quiet incredible considering how enthralling and well made Origins was.The worst game Bioware have ever presented to it's fans.I considered the Demo to be a chore rather than an experience. It was so weak and uninteresting.

Saying that DAII was meant for a 12 year old audience has no meaning.I'm older than that but still enjoyed the hack n'slasher gameplay of the game.I found the combat in the first to be very dull and boring after a while so it was a great improvement in the second.Another thing is that gameplay does not determine what an RPG is...it's the role-playingness(not a real word,I know) of the game which wasn't shown in the demo.

There wasn't exactly a lot of material to judge the writing and acting on but I had not problem with it.

As for the combat... You do realize the biggest difference is quicker more action filled animations, right? The combat is basically the same as DAO...

I agree with you, if it isn's broke, don't fix it, DA sure needed some fixing though...

first, the combat is completely different, maybe not in the user interface side, but what's whith all the flips? feels like i'm playing soul calibur. second, i heavily agree, if it ain't broke, etc... i really miss being able to choose my race though. granted, it's a demo, but even so, why just let players be a human in a demo? bravo on creating this thread, spread the discontent

Yeah, you could totally air back during the fight with the ogre in the real combat section - not.

Thing is that saying does not apply to media and it shouldn't...ever.

Yes, I can see how you're vastly superior to these proverbial teenagers when you come in hordes to blight the first ten pages with your unfoundedly arrogant posts.

Mostly the same as DAO. I thought it was fine.

Not me it didn't.

Fighting was fantastic and more tactical than DAO.

It felt pretty much like the original with tweaks to me. You don't do much role playing but its a 45 minute demo what do you expect.

Or you could take an active tactical role even though you may not need to.

I respect your opinion.

But in my humble opinion Bioware have taken a huge step back.

Graphically inferior and as rubbish as Dynasty Warriors. Not good.Unless you like those type of games which Dragon Age Origins wasn't.

Very annoyed at how garbage DA2 is.

Why would they cut that which was so good about the first one? The multiple story lines. Most of us got into DA:O because of the story, not because of the combat. Lets face it, the combat was terrible. So, they cut that which people found good about the first one but improved upon that which people didn't care about. I don't wan't to play a hack-n-slash game, there are allot of other games to choose from for that. DA:O was original, and they took away the originality. I never thought I would say this about a Bioware game, but I am honestly not looking forward to this game's release.

I might be able to live with the combat intensity. (not the speed/animations, mind you. A big sword is slow, like in DAO, not something you hack about with like a fly swatter.)

But the way they done away with the old style and ambiance is a real shame. I seen no reason to change a wonderful gameworld into a hack and slash fest with no finesse and style. Not to mention the new ui style, which would have fit just as well in a first person shooter (as a weapon selector) and shows no user-friendliness at all for an rpg.

I also say, Guilty!

Same could be said to you since there's tons of topics complaining about the demo a new one isn't really needed.

well, i do agree that you didn't really need to apply any tactical thinking during the demo. But it was only normal difficulty. I fully expect nightmare to change that.

I don't think i have ever seen a demo that actually challenged the player.

as for the graphic: The demo is an early build, the devs already pointed out at least one improvement in the final build. And with only medium Texture Files, you can't expect too much.

keep in mind we had a difficultly locked demo that didn't provide tons of insight into the characters.

im sure the harder difficulties are more tactical,
i find it strange how everyone loses faith in bioware before they release a new game. Posted Image

Agreed.

ps.I wish people would actually contribute to the thread rather than hijack it with useless spam & insults. One has to ask was this Biowares target audience.
