Thankyou for your post.Few remarks to be made here without btw telling you that your reasoning is weak.

Firstly , a silent protaganist and  text to make choices as to exactly what you want to say is very immersive. We know this as books tend to be more popular than their cassette versions . I have no objections to being told a story or viewing a film. But as the main attraction of a good well written  rpg is that YOU are rollplaying a character..essentially YOU are that character.
Wouldn't you agree that having a voiced protaganist that you don't like (as you say) is of detriment to your experience .When it is unnecersary .If you like attending soccer matches and are forced to wear a headset and listen to classical music.Would you not object and think this is ruining my experience.

Please accept other peoples opinion.I respect yours...even though I find your claims of more immersive a nonsense. You are listening to a load of noise from a voice that is not your own,it can only ever be a distraction.it's a scientific consensus that is easily demonstrated.

Try reading in a library whilst listening to a drag racing..or playing chess at a soccer match.

You say that you respect other people's opinion but then immediately discount that person's opinion as nonsense. That isn't respecting someone's opinion.

I am not sure that because books are more popular than books on tape means that books are clearly more immersive.

In DA:O we don't get to have the warden say exactly what we want. We are limited to generally 3-5 choices.   If you are playing "yourself" and hearing a different voice is distracting, why isn't it distracting to see "yourself" in a different body?

Immersion means different things to different people. Personally I sometimes didn't like it in DA:O when the warden just stood there like a stone while others were talking. I am not sugesting that having a voiced main character is perfect. There were times in the demo where it seemed off to me. And if BW used VO for the main character that I hated, I wouldn't buy the game.

So purely opinions as I thought.

A verdict is something that is factual not yours or anyone else's opinion.

The world works by majority opinions, so much so that you gain a large enough majority and opinions become facts.

And a verdict is a decision reached by a majority of people, wether they came by it through facts or not.

But if we go by what you said, then we can dismiss your "verdict" as merely one opinion, and it will be the majority's rule which decides if this game will be good or not, and it will be written into history as such, or not.

At the end of the day, this isn't a game aimed at DAO fans.

It's a game aimed at console players who said 'I might buy a sequel if there was more anime combat and less boring stuff like conversations and choices'.

So they made a half-assed hybrid instead of a proper RPG or action game. It's aimed squarely at a specific audience, and those of us who liked BG, IWD, P:T or DAO simply have to accept that audience is not us.

Its' a shame BW lost faith in the very things that made ME1 and DAO so great. I don't like to see every single game homogenised.

if you say so mate. but people are entitled to their own opinions and despite that the OP and this guy are completely wrong (i believe they are playing the wrong game ) in my opinion, i can only say that is just that : an opinion and i cannot change it.

The combat so far is better  then in DAO as it requires you to do more just auto attacking and use the occasional sweep or fireball. dialogue so far i liked . However i cannot judge the whole game on few tidbits of dialogue

You liking it is also opinion. Hard to fathom, I know, but you liking it makes you no more right than they are for not liking it.

I honestly hope I'm misinterpreting this statement. I mean, Nicholas Boulton, feminine? Say what?

Yes, I wouldn't insult him personally as he is a half decent shakespearian actor...but his voice is rather meak and mild compared to a say a Gerard Butler.

His voice for my protaganist was weak and  distracting that is all.Surely we can have this discussion without it being implied he is a crappy actor which he isn't.

In my mind they have replaced realistic fighting action with comic style kung fu moves replacing all the movement which were true to life with ridiculously over the top animations for the hack and slash merchants - totally not impressed on first look although got too bored to make it through til the end so will give it another go later - given I have pre ordered I may as well get used to it, but had I seen this demo before paying I would NOT have purchased it as I am not into hack and slash combat games which is what it has become.

Unfortunately, the PC demo was a complete disappointment for me. It felt nothing like DA:O, the characters and environment were artificial, the UI is painfully masseffectized, the great RPG atmosphere from DA:O is gone, the graphics are significantly better, but too cartoony, too DA:O-alienated, the animations ridiculous, no top-down view and the confusing camera makes the combat chaotic, the combat itself is a gigantic step backwards and a really bad joke. Plus, the environments seem a lot tighter and confined, Bioware has obviously taken a fancy to long corridors. ME2 all the way. The conversation system is a clear ME2 make-over and has no place in the DA universe IMO. The amount of choices was limited and I had a hard time immersing myself in the story via such a system.

What are you trying to imitate with this Bioware? You have turned DA2 into a console ninja cartoony hack 'n' slash rubbish with a strong ME2 flavour. I absolutely loved DA:O, having done four various playthroughs - each with a unique gameplay experience. Bioware is doing really well in alienating DA:O fans and RPG fans in general. Maybe they even revel in losing old fans and drawing new action-oriented ones.

The bottom line is obvious from my standpoint: DA2 has diverted too much from its acclaimed predecessor and I've had little fun playing it. This should never have happened. If ME3 walks the same path then I am afraid the days of our "old good" Bioware are sealed forever.

I've only been playing PC games since the 1980's. Have over a dozen RPGs installed on my computer right now and I love the demo. I certainly don't claim to represent "true" fans.

Good, knowing this you can now appreciate that  individuals comments either good/bad are relevant and justified .We can garner a consensus later. In the meantime people shouting down criticism we can agree is quite ridiculus.

Bioware smartened up and realized that us Console gamers can give them the money needed to be a break out all star company.Dragon Age 2 was made more flashy to thank all of the console gamers that made mass effect such a success.Op you are nothing but a P.C. extremist that is selfish and wants bioware to cater to you and your computer.Go back and play world of war craft if you hate dragon age 2 so much brotha.B)

DO:O combat was horrible. Dull, slow, boring. This looks way more intresting. Cant say anything about the story as the game havent been realeased yet. This looks like a big improvment yust like Mass Effect 2 showed to be.

Sad thing about forums. People almost only come there to whine. Probably loads of people loving the demo but never go to the forums saying so.

Indeed. I'm just wondering who likes a half-assed hybrid game really? Is there really an audience for a game that tries to be something for everyone but fails to be great in anything?

Well Eshaye, what do you expect?

Sounds to me that people are only stating their opinion on the combat and voiced characters in the demo. Nothing wrong with stating an opinion on a forum dedicated to the demo and the game the demo is for. From the sounds of it many of these opinions are negative, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Let people vent their frustrations, let them confirm via this forum what aspects of the upcoming game Dragon Age 2 they dislike or even full on hate.

Personally I shall await judgement for when I obtain the demo on next Tuesday (Microsoft is annoying at times).

Can we please..PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD give up on this pointless crap about consol players.

I was a PC player, now im a consol player, does that suddenly mean i have regressed to the mentality of a 12 year old who is only interested in hack and slash?

To any PC player who holds a 'grudge' against consol players, let me help you here, the consol market OWNS the PC market, PCs are a marginal market at best, you probly represent 15% of the total gaming market if even that. Stop trying to blame everything you dont like on the MAJORITY of gamers who own consols.

This game will be awesom, I can bet my last dollar all you haters will buy the game also. The only FACT about this whole thing, is that any game that gets released gets moaned about on the official forums by nerds who expect somthing that makes no sense for a business to go and make.

If you think you can do better, go do it....o wait.. thats right, that would involve actual talent, not just professional ****ing .

One thing I will miss is the cool finishing moves - I know they're still there but when you're flipping around 24/7 it kind of takes away the impact of an awesome finisher.

This is what I meant by combat lacking dynamics. Combat so cluttered with flips, spins, teleports, explosions etc. etc. that it's impossible to see anything. Everything is so 'super cool hot rod' all the time that nothing stands out.

It's just a mess. One of those cases where less is more.

With rouge I PWNED the ogre by spamming two skills. Backstab and shattering swings or something. I was -_- as I watched the rouge teleporting back and forth back and front of the ogre.

To the waves of trash mob I used new rouge warrior-like OP tackle. Tossed everyone near the target on the ground and almost killed them all too. I was again -_-

I asked why? I heard masses cheering "yay this cool" :D

Luckily I did not have to play more since the game crashed. The comp had some mercy on me!

It isn't my opinion books ARE more popular than audio for it's immersive qualities. You should know that the appeal for audiobooks is not choice rather necesity.

The dialogue was awesome! What are you talkign about? Maybe you just picked boring choices. The sarcastic/comedy choices with Flemeth were especially entertaining.

then GTFO of these forums instead of trolling in every thread. Is your life that bad and boring that you have to come onto a forum to say how bad a game is. Go to a games forum you are looking forward to and get more info on it and GTFO of these forums with your whining. Or is it that you want someone to pay you some attention little boy?

Don't get angry.

I do not understand people that do not like games and then turn up on their forums moaning moaning moaning and more moaning. I am here to get as much info as i can on a game i am really looking forward too. If i did not like the look of this game i wouldn't waste my time complaining about it. I guess i must just have a more interesting life then people on here complaining.

... So our complaints are heard while they are working on the sequel?

"Silences gives consent". I don't like aspects of the game, and you better believe that they are damn well going to hear about it.

I don't see how that is less useful than a bunch of boot-lickers constantly fawning over them and praising their every action.

Indeed, it's more productive (when given correctly).
