Your availabilty page says that silver memberships don't get to download until March 1st. I assume this is some sort of deal with Microsoft, but that makes no sense to me. Why should a devoted RPG player have to buy a Gold membership with Microsoft's X-box Live just to be treated like a PC customer? I got your promotions the same as someone with a Gold membership, and nowhere there does it say "Silver membership need not apply." Is there some odd hardware or software program I'm missing here, or is it just Microsoft being greedy again?

Also, is there any Mac demo in the works / on the way / available? When I heard that Dragon Age 2 was being released for mac at the same time as PC (FINALLY) I assumed that meant we'd be getting the demo too . . .

microsoft wants your money.

This is their way of saying

Wanna pay up now that you gotta wait?

They even dont offer multiplayer for a game i bought unless your gold.

Microsoft may you rot.

The majority of new demos (may be all of them, even) are only available to Gold members for the first week of release - its a policy that Microsoft have used for well over a year now.

I got the 360 for Mass Effect, and becasue I didn't want to wait years for the Mac releases of Bioware games. I regret it more every day. Well, back to Mass Effect 2 I guess . . .

Just create a new profile with a different E-mail then the current one you're using, get your 1 free month of gold, download the demo.

You'll be able to play it off of any profile on that harddrive. Then simply sign into EA network with your account to get the sword promo.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

And before people jump in with the inevitable "Herp Derp y u no have goldz u r noob lol". I did have Gold membership. For a full 6 months. Plus another 3 months as compensation for 2 RRoDs. Wanna know how often I used Gold services?

Never.

I simply have no interest in the kind of online play that Xbox games provide. Even AC:B didn't sway me. Why should I be shelling out $15 a month on the offchance I might want to try a demo possibly sometime in the future? This nerfing the free user to provide a false sense of benefit to subscribers is a downright stupid business model. It has not persuaded me to sign up with gold, in fact (and I realise this may sound childish) I will be making every effort to avoid making purchases through XBL marketplace in the future.
