Why Mass Effect 3 is going to suck

1 : An argument from history.  Mass Effect 1 established a franchise.  Mass Effect 2 established a trajectory of "growth."  Mass Effect 3 will most likely follow it.  As Mass Effect 2 was inferior to Mass Effect 1 in all significant ways--and here I mean that Mass Effect 2 had better graphics than the original, but those are insignificant--Mass Effect 3 will also be inferior.  (An abreviated exposition: smaller and fewer environments, restrictive story structure, no meaningful customization options, heat sinks....)

2 : An argument from analogy.  The Trailer sucked, and if it is indicitatie then the game will as well.  Let me unpack this.  In Mass Effect 3 the Reapers are attacking earth.  They're not ABOUT to attack; they are attacking.  First, we see that they are ineffectual; time has apparently taken away their civilization destruction skills so that they can be effectively hindered by a sniper.  Second, we realize that one of two things must happen: either the entire third game must occupy an incredibly compressed time frame, or the Reapers are not a serious threat.  If it is the former, then the third game will be even smaller and more restrictive than the second.  If it is the latter, then it is anticlimactic and ultimately irrelevant.

To judge a game on the trailer is crazy. Trailers don't need to show actual game content, just capture the spirit of the game. I think the trailer was awesome, the game will probably be awesome too. ME2 made me like playing ME1 even more. Starting a new Shep with the whole trilogy out will be.....i'm searching for the word.....awesome.

There's been one trailer. And very little other information. How do you expect to make an accurate prediction about the rest of the game?

I agree:  ME1 has the best story so far and introduced the fear of what was to come. ME2 introduced more characters and attracted a more diverse gaming audience.  These nerd arguments are pointless btw. This feels like Xbox is better than Playstation which is so immature.

By treating opinions as facts and all sorts of faulty logic apparently

A sniper shoots a husk and you think that is hindering the Reapers?

Your deduction skillz are awesome.

We know that trailers always lie, and we don't have any hard information about ME3 at all, yet you found out everything.

Dude:
1) Saying Mass effect 2 is inferior to the original is purely opinion
2) Debut trailers hardly say ANYTHING about a game. That's like believing that a teaser trailer fully represents a movie, when the actual thing ends up having different music and a bunch of cut scenes.
3) So what if it takes the Reapers take a while to wipe us out? Last I  checked, it took ages just to annihilate the protheans. The Reapers are not as omnipotent as everyone wants to believe, Soverign was just trying to sound superior (if you ask me).
4) Chill out! Bioware's done good so far. If you don't like ME3 when it comes out, play a different game. These forums are for sharing knowledge, fixing problems, and loving the game--- not complaining.

Peace out.

I literally stopped reading right after I read this. ME2 is a better game according to the majority of ME fans. You lost.

Let me put this in perspective...

I just got out of the hospital because my appendix ruptured because I'm a stupid idiot who can't tell the difference between a flu and a rupturing organ.

The pain was the worst I've ever felt... And I would much rather go through it once more than waste my life reading that original post again.

trailer doesnt mean ****. remember this?

me2 is a middle part of a trilogy, thats why it didn't do much in terms of a main story. me3 will bring back me1 epicness. Ilos VI discussion level of epicness, cause there's a lot of unexplained stuff they're keeping for a big reveal in me3.

Exactly. I remember Vigil in ME1 mentioning how it took decades for the Reapers to destroy everyone, and how the Protheans were kept in stasis pods for centuries.
