Hello fellow gamers, this is the first time I post in these forums. I have been a long time Bioware gamer, I have enjoyed BG2, Mass Effect, NWM, KotOR and now Dragon Age. Im very excited about the mods the community is making and will continue to make. I have never made mods myself, but I have used mods for games and I love it, it makes games even more interesting and fun. The last game I used mods for was Fallout 3 and the mods for that game were and continue to be pretty awesome.
The reason Im posting is because I am concerned about this site. As I understand it, this forum will be the source of all things mod related, from downloading, to discussions and troubleshooting. To me this seems highly unorganized. Having come from using a lot of mods for Fallout 3, and from an awesome mod site like Nexus, wading through pages and pages of posts or using the "search" function to find what Im looking for is very unnerving.
I hope that a good fansite not unlike Nexus comes up soon. If it does not I woud sugest this site be renovated.
What I think is needed:
- Categories: Weapons, models, animations, etc.
- Tutorial sections: a place to discuss how to make mods and how to install them.
- Ratings: a way to rate mods and their makers.
Thanks for reading.
Request for better modding support.

I agree, compared to sites like Fallout 3 Nexus and Planet Elder Scrolls, the categorising ability of this site seems woefully lacking. There should definately be categories and ratings.

I cringe at the thought of going through every mod one by one to find a simple texture replacer, so yes. It needs to be improved

I think it's still in beta mode this site, i'm not sure, because they took out the "BETA" that was in the title bar but the site looks the same.

I have it on good authority that there is a Dragon Age Nexus due for launch any day now...

I saw over on the nexus forums that they have placed a new Dragon Age forum up. There is also a link to what I would guess is a future mod repository? http://www.dragonagenexus.com
I loved this resource for Oblivion and Fallout 3.

I am also working on a tool that will help out in this area. It will allow you to download, install, and uninstall mods via a nice easy to read listing.
Right now we are focused on getting it out for people to use. But down the road we do plan to expand upon it and have already the foundation for it to be a very powerful tool for mod authors and end users. (Rating System, Built-In Bug forums for each mod, Comments, Fast Download via our dedicated servers, and lots of other planned features for the future)
The Dragon Age Mod Manager program itself is fairly small and easy to use (Not to mention entirely open source). But its the backend web servers that serv the content that will be the real workhorse of the tool.

I am quite hopeful that BioWare will fix the issues that theis site currently has - They do not consider it finished yet, and I know they are aware of the issues that builders have been complaining aboaut.
In other words, I urge people not to give up on the site and move elsewhere just yet - give them a couple of weeks to fix the worst problems.
I have trying to keep a thread active for suggestions on how to make the social site more useful for builders - so if you have any specific suggestion, please add them there as well.
