well the title pretty much sums it up but i dont have live but i do have an internet connection so is there any way that i could download the demo without getting live?

If you do not have an Xbox Live gold account, you will have to wait until next week until you can download it for the Xbox 360. If you don't even have an Xbox Live silver account, you will never be able to download it for the Xbox 360. Unless by some odd miracle demo discs come back in style.
If you are on the PC, Windows Live is unnecessary. If you're using a Playstation 3, Playstation Live does not exist.
